Cruise Control Problems of Kia Motor Sportage

Engine overheated lights on dash hecu abs adas cruise control tire sensor window did not work correctly auto dimmer radio blanks out water pump went out tow truck damaged my car. I was not aware of any damages until I was accused by dealership I hit something as I did not. I have witnesses n pictures.

The contact owns a 2010 kia Sportage. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the cruise control failed to deactivate while depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that the electronic stability control warning light was illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to be diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

The contact owns a 2007 kia Sportage. While driving 60 mph, the cruise control did not disengage when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact had to manually push the button in order to deactivate the cruise control. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 132,163.

Brake lights inoperable, esc inoperable, cruise control inoperable, transmission stuck in park. Upon starting the vehicle I noticed 2 warning lights remain lighted. I looked in the manual of the vehicle and learned the warning lights for the esc. I continued to attempt to operate the vehicle by shifting the transmission interlockl lever into the "reverse" position. However, I was unable to move the transmission interlock lever. Upon researching that issue I learned I could utilize a manual override to switch into gear. I did this and upon driving the car home I realized the cruise control no longer worked and that the brake lights were not working via other drivers.

Right after christmas and before new year's eve I received a phone call from a lady stating she was a kia representative. My vehicle was part of the recall for the brake switch. About ten days after the call my brake lights would no longer go out even when the vehicle had been sitting still overnight. Than about 3-5 days later my esc off light came on and now always stay on when the car is being driven. This past weekend I sent a service request online for the brake switch issue to be fixed. I did bunch of research and found out that the brake switch was the one causing the other issues and still can cause more. On 2/1/16 a kia service employee called and left a message stating that the recall didn't apply to may car. Later on that same day my cruise control stopped working. From all the research I did the brake switch is the cause for all three problems I'm having now. What I don't understand is how can other 2006 kia Sportages who have had the same issue like me is covered but my car is not.

As of Saturday my brake lights would not shut off, then I noticed while driving the electronic stability control light kept flashing on and off by itself. And the cruise control was not working properly as well. So I got online to investigate this and found there was a recall for this exact problem with my year and model car. But when I called kia they stated that my car was not part of the recall and that I would have to pay out of pocket for the repairs, even though my make model was recalled and my car was doing the same thing that was recalled.

I was driving at 55 mph behind several other cars approaching a redlight. The cuise control was set and as the cars ahead of me began to brake, I did as well. The cruise control failed to disengage and I had to stomp on the brake pedal as I manually disengaged the cruise control to get the car to stop. The esc light was also illuminated. The car had the stop lamp recall done in November 2009.

2006 kia Sportage. Consumer writes in regards to malfunction of airbag light. The consumer was informed the connections were bad, which caused the air bag light to illuminated. The cruise control stopped working, the esc light illuminated, and the radiator cover was broken.

As of yet there has been no incident other than being notified that there is a safety recall on my vehicle and for over two months now the dealer and the manufacturer who I have also contacted claim that they can not get the necessary parts to replace the defective one. This safety recall is for a defective brake switch which can cause failure of the brakes lights, the car not to move out of park and the cruise control to not shut off when the brakes are applied.

Upon being at a stop engine revved, and vehicle accelerated, landing in an intersection; which caused a collision. Consumer's vehicle hit a semi truck. Upon impact, the air bags did not deploy. Due to a previous incident vehicle was in cruise control mode. However, vehicle accelerated, and took off on its own. Consumer had to slam on brakes to stop the vehicle.

2001 kia Sportage, stopped dead in the middle of a major highway. The consumer was unable to get a full alignment because the idler was defective, on 2 occasions the vehicle would not start and it had to be jump started, which was due to defective battery terminals, the radio, font brakes exhaust system, air condition valve cover gasket, front wheel bearing, cruise control were all inoperative, the vehicle has had 2 engine replacements, and the drive belts were out of tension.

2001 kia Sportage suffered two complete engine failures. Along with the engine failures, there were problems with the radio, battery and the terminals, front brakes, a sensor knock, exhaust system, air condition, valve cover gasket, front wheel bearings, front pads and rotors, cruise control, and a defective idler arm.

While driving. And upon putting the vehicle into cruise control vehicle accelerated up to 80 mph. Then, vehicle pulled to the right. Contacted the dealer, and was told there was nothing they could do because the vehicle was out of warranty.

The srs air bag light appeared on the dashboard and remained on. The cruise control failed to come on its own. The clock spring needed to be replaced. The air bag light had been on for a year. The consumer was informed that the front seat belts needed to be replaced.

Vehicle's engine and a/c failed. The consumer had to replace two engines within a 40000 mile usage. The vehicle stopped dead on a very busy us route 1 hwy. The sudden stop caused a traffic tie up and the vehicle was nearly rear ended by a air conditioning, the vehicle needed a complete engine replacement, valve cover gasket, front wheel bearings, drive belts out of tension, cruise control, v belts replaced, brakes and rotors, exhaust system.

Continuation of complaint. . . . I then checked the NHTSA website for recalls or service campaigns and found 3 recalls that fit in my VIN range. I immediately called kia's 800 number and asked if my vehicle was included and was promptly told no. I believed this response since it was coming directly from the manufacturer and not the dealer. About 2 months later, I received a disturbing call from a representative from kia consumer affairs telling me to immediately stop driving the vehicle because the same 3 recalls I saw on the NHTSA website and called to inquire about included my vehicle. The recalls were: brake line recall-the steering intermediate shaft coupling can contact a hydraulic brake pipe causing fluid leakage. This condition can cause a loss of rear brake increasing the risk of a crash. Electrical wiring- the wires connected to the c123 and c124 connectors can be put under tension by movement of the engine, thus pulling the wires and connectors, loosening them and resulting in a loss of circuit continuity. This condition can cause engine stalling, increasing the risk of a crash. The third recall was an obd label. I could not believe that kia put my family and me in so much danger by telling me that my vehicle was not involved. The kia representative told me that kia would provide me with a loaner vehicle. Since I knew that I could possible die by continuing to drive this vehicle, I took a day off of work and took the vehicle back to the dlr. By this time, I had kept a timetable and log of everything that had gone wrong with the vehicle and presented it to the dealer. The list included, of course, the check engine light on, hesitation on acceleration, vehicle shakes severely when the wheel is turned, the idle surges when the vehicle is stopped, the rear window defogger had come off of the vehicle, the radio had started to static and turn on loud even when it was turned off, the volume knobs on the radio worked intermittently, the windows rolled up and down.

Seat belt would continuously chime. The air bag light stays on after starting vehicle. Vehicle would start erratically. Door frame would leak. Convertible top did not stay closed. Vehicle would idle at 2000rpms when slowing down & almost stall out. Will be taking vehicle to dealer.

Engine check light kept coming on. Idle stays high at stop lights or stop signs. Has been happening at least 3 times a week. Took to dealer & was informed problem caused by going over bumps, but would repair problem. Picked vehicle up & light came back on again.

Vacuum reservoir failed causing the cruise control to not hold speed. Nlm.

Cruise control speed dropped 10mph on slight slope.

While driving ve on cruise control without warning cruise control will get stuck, causing vehicle to accelerate. Dealer has been notified, problem occurs intermittently.

Rough idle problems, not able to be rectified.
