1 Speed Control Cable problem of the 2011 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 08/07/2020

Recall no. 13v114 has still not been resolved. With no predicable frequency, my daughter's car will suddenly be difficult to shift out of park and the steering will become more difficult, the stability control light will illuminate, the cruise control will be inoperative, the anti-lock brakes will become inoperative, because the stop lamp switch connected to the brake pedal is malfunctioning. I believe this can be repaired by a replacement stop lamp switch, at least temporarily. I do not know if kia has an alternate switch available to install. It has been almost eight years since this recall started. Please put pressure on kia to resolve this problem. I want to get this problem fixed on my daughter's car but I'd rather not pay for it myself, but I want to get it repaired this year. Thank you!.

2 Speed Control Cable problem of the 2009 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 10/24/2016

2009 kia Sportage lx complaint. We have recently been experiencing intermittent acceleration surging. The occurrences are random; hot or cold in d-gear at a stop-light or in park position. I¿ve taken the car to the kia dealer two times. On the second time, I was told that after a test-drive on the second day, the mechanic did notice the surging of the tachometer and the ¿fix¿ was to re-route/loosen the cruise control cable. Two days later, the engine surging re-appeared. This is a dangerous safety concern that can result in injury to pedestrians, and other drivers. When the engine surge/racing occurs the tachometer goes up and down from under 1,000 to 5,000 rpm¿s. It has happened with my foot on the brake and while in park and in gear. During the latest event, we have a video taken with our I-phone showing the tachometer going up and down in the ¿park¿ position. We are scared to drive this car because this safety defect can cause bodily danger as it lunges forward due to engine racing. I¿ve also posted this safety defect on ¿carcomplaints. Com¿ to warn others. Goggling this issue on yahoo. Com reveals others having similar problems. Can we get some help on this?.

The contact owns a 2007 kia Sportage. While driving 60 mph, the accelerator pedal locked up and would not release. As a result, the vehicle would not decelerate. The contact slammed on the brakes and slowed the vehicle down to 25 mph through a red light. The vehicle rolled into a parking lot and was still moving when the contact shifted the gear into park. She applied the emergency brake in order to stop the vehicle. The dealer stated that a piece of plastic from the accelerator cable failed and caused the accelerator pedal to lock.
