Driver's side door stays ajar. Took vehicle to dealer, and was told that door was not off line, yet door will not close properly.

Door stays ajar. Mechanic told consumer that door is not off line, yet door does not close properly. Now horn has failed, security alarm system acts erraticly, the right side hood if offline and is bent causing the hood to intrude outward towards the front fender, and the driver side back window will not move up or down.

On several occasions, passenger door won't open, and door handle won't open from inside.

All four windows get stuck, doors lock and unlock by themselves, vehicle is trying to shift into 4x4 while vehicle is in motion, air conditioner works 1 out of 4 times, latch opens on back of vehicle while in motion. Black tarry dust on front tires.

Passenger door is not align properly, it casuses water leakages when washing and will not close properly; dealer replace the weather stripping and the door still will not close properly, been in /out of dealer body shop on four occasion and the door still will not close properly, not unless you slam the door close. Power locks would operate erratically, locking / unlocking by itself while vehicle was running/driving. Dealer notified, and problem stilloccurs. Feel free to provide any further information .

Front driverside door won't open and all doors lock without warnings with slightest movement of car. Car failed first vt saftey inspection Nov. 00 because severe defect with wheel bearings - brakes pads and rotors replaced with adjustments neccesary to wheel bearing as very loose. Four wheel drive checked in November by kia due to possible hub failure, found no problem. First time using 4wh dr, failed had to be towed to dealership (Dec 00) all 4wh dr equipment replaced.

The striker plate is out of adjustment causing the drivers side rear door to be out of alignment. Nlm.

Car at dealer 3 days, problem fixing locks, dealer paid for car rental.

Seat belt would continuously chime. The air bag light stays on after starting vehicle. Vehicle would start erratically. Door frame would leak. Convertible top did not stay closed. Vehicle would idle at 2000rpms when slowing down & almost stall out. Will be taking vehicle to dealer.

Help!! I have tried for 6 weeks now to contact kia with little success, after a month of trying a factory tech finally came out to look at my car and did confirm some of the problems, including the random accelration, he promised to contact me within 4 days and it has now been 3 weeks, I have left messages and faxes with their consumer affairs dept and as of yet have received no response. These are some of the problems I have had: transmission replaced 3 times, 4 trans has problems, rear shocks broken - manuf. Refuses to repair, seatbelt randomly disengaged, front right door continually jammed, catalytic converter came loose, engine randomly reves and accelerates, engine would not idle at all, engine idles roughly, motor fan broke loose and embedded in radiator, power mirrors switch defective, dome light inoperative, left rear door very stiff, hub caps falling off, wind shield motor defective, antilock brake sensor defective, right rear window defective, ect. . . .

Windshield wiper motor continuously has internal electrical short/abs indicator continually comes loose and "backs out of relay block/ power windows/mirrors switch contacts backing off, causing "open circuits".

Main concern is 4 wheel drive, could cause an accident if indicator lamp is on and 4 wheel drive is not engaging. Causing a false sense of security on hazardous roadways, causing loss of vehicle control.

We have an antifreeze problem still to this day; our brakes still are squealing now; it didn't start twice; ice builds up where the door and the car come together-damaging door; has iced over inside the car; windows would never clear off-couldn't see anything while driving; didn't idle properly-and still doesn't.

Engine check light is on, the car is stalling, the air bag lights are on. I am afraid that they will deploy at any given time. Almost killed myself and my daughter on the queenboro bridge, I was going 40 and all of a sudden the car accelerated on it's own, I applied the brakes, but they had turned hard, I had no brakes, put emergency brakes, but nothing, when it was nearing an accident because I had to stop I threw the car in neutral which slowed it down enough for me to safely put it in park in the middle of a bridge. The cars engine roared when I put in park I couldn't move or fear of killing myself. The locks on the car keep opening and closing by themself. It needs 2 quarts of engine oil every month. I am totally dissatisfied with this car.

Water runs off my windshild into the door and forms ice in the hinges which results in having a hard time getting in or out of my vehicle. The manufacturer states there is nothing that can be done for this, and I have to accept it and live with it all for $17,000. 00.

The entire car should be recalled. Kia does little to assist with cars that have cronic problems. No safety defect listed within summary.

Auto leaking fluid near engine. In addition, intermittent stalling/electrical door and window switch failed, and engine check light comes on/off.

Front two doors leak in heavy rain on the top of the door frame, dealer can't find problem.

The door structure allowed water to get into the edges. This resulted in the doors being frozen shut when this occurred in cold weather. The dealership/manufacturer are aware of the problem but have not provided a fix for it. The kia dealer informed the consumer that the weren't going to do anything about the problem due to snow and slush were normal weather conditions that would get into the doors.

Consumer stated that water and airflow was entering inside the vehicle, dealer replaced weather strip, which caused passenger door to adjar, adjusted striker and door still is not closing properly.

Fuel tank sensor went out in vehicle 7 different times. Door handle on passenger's side had came off twice. 4-wheel drive did not work when using it. Taken vehicle to dealership for repairs. Was informed that fuel tank should not be filled completely. Will be looking at the other problems for repairs.

The rear latch has been replaced three times, also there is extreme wind noise in coming from the front door.

I've had continuous problems with my car since purchasing it, it has been taken into the shop for the engine check light coming on 2 times, the first time they said it was a sensor, but the problem reoccurred 2 days later , they then said it was a harness, that was replaced then I've taken it in for two recalls on the brakes and a hub problem, I'm currently having problems with the door handles sticking so it makes it impossible to open the doors with the key from the outside, dealer states that they can't get it to happen when I take it to the shop but it occures continually when the vehicle is in my possession, back hatch door does not close completely unless you slam it several times, dealer says nothing wrong, engine always smells like it is burning and now the car will only start when it wants to, dealer said it was the battery but the car is only 1 year old, I've talked to several other Sportage owners who all have the same problems, I feel the manufacterer needs to buy all these cars back, I've tried to trade this car and none of the dealers want it they tell me that it is not worth what I've paid for it so I'm stuck with is piece of junk, I'm at my witts end. . . I'm afraid to drive the car because I'm afraid to get stuck somewhere. The car is litteraly falling apart in my hands and theres nothing I can do about it, I've talked to a lawyer in regard to the lemon law but they say that it has to be a reoccuring problem of the same origin but theres apparently help for the comsumers that are stuck with awful products like these SUV's. There were 166 complaints on this site and almost every person had the same problems I'm having with my vehicle. I am personally telling as many people as I can about these junkie kia's. The manufacterer should be held responsible for this. If I or anybody in my car should be hurt in an accident due to these problems, kia will see a law suit that will make their head spin.
