Power Window Problems of Kia Motor Sportage - part 1

All the windows have just randomly failed down. The last one was my passenger back window on my way to work with it pouring down rain this morning. The first incident was about a year and a half ago, the driver's side window fell, and the window shattered. Took to glass shop and they said regulator needed to be replaced and they put in when they installed new glass. I went to texarkana kia dealer ship were bought car and bought a regulator and thought problem was solved. Several months later the window did not work so took back to glass shop that fixed they said regulator not working again. The glass shop took off and I got a replacement one at kia and talked to several people of how my windows were acting but no one said a word about my certain model did had a problem with the regulators.

Power locks go on and off by themselves. Power windows don't work , then suddenly works. Computer failure with brakes.

Tires became bald three months after I bought the car, brake pads and rotor needed replacing. The gas lever has been and is broke again. Hubs were replaced the first time, seals were replaced second time. The heat shield needs to be replaced right now. Passenger side window moves very slow. Timing belt replaced early. Brake light comes on whenever I applied the brakes. I went to an auto dealer and had them check out the brakes. They told me that the master brake cylinder was leaking badly.

I have a 2000 kia Sportage ex and I have had trouble with the power windows since I purchased the car in 2000. I took it to the dealership while it was under warranty and they claim the windows were working and they could not locate any problem, I then had the window to stop working again and took it back this time it was not under warrranty and they said that the rear right window needed new motor and it would not work without this being done and the other three windows the wiring was loose I had the three windows fixed and paid for them. I got the vehicle home and noticed the air bag light flashing and called the dealership and told them that the light had never been on and could I bring it back in because it happened while at dealership. I took the vehicle in and they told me the air bag was defective and it would cost 2000. 00 to fix it I could not afford this and told them not to fix it. The windows stopped working a month later I called dealership to tell them that I had just had them fixed the month before and the windows should still be under warranty and told them the rear right window did work after they told me it wouldn't and they looked at the windows and told me they had fixed th problem of a wiring harness had come loose and I should not have any more problems with them. Well now it has been over a year and they have stopped working again. I have had nothing but problems with the power windows.

While rolling up the front driver side power window, the window fell back down with great force without warning. As a result the window was inoperative.

The left back window fell down then 6 months later the right one fell.

The last driver side window on the corner of the truck separated while driving and fell onto the highway.

Rattle/vibratin coming from under car. Convertor replaced with no results. Told convertors are defective. The rattle /vibration happens every time I shift from low gear to high gear or visa-versa. They will not do transmission diagnostics. I was told that it was the resonance(sp?) in the exhaust system, this noise is normal.

The vehicles front power windows failed intermittently. Dealer notified.

Been having air condition issues since 12/02 the problem is still not corrected. The ac problem has been long and on going. There is like a fog coming out of it once it has been on and then you hit the ac button off and some white flakes come out of it. The blower motor has been replaced in it. It was making moisture under my dashbroad on the passenger side. Still waiting for that to be done. Apparently they put the car up on racks uped the rpms and say that where the pressure should be at is not. It exceeds where it should be. Waiting for those parts to come in. Had issues with exhaust had entire new exhaust put on the car through out the month of August 03. Was done in pieces because instead of checking the entire system they saw one problem fixed that and told me it was complete. Well the noise continued took it back and under the heat manafold there was another probelm. Needless to say once a week for the month of August expect for the week I was on vacation. Have had power window issues with two windows not rolling down, was unable to duplicate the first time so sent me on my way and had to bring it back when they could witness the problem. Cup holder has broken, dome light, latch on back seat replaced. Fan cracked in 3 spots. Belts have had to be replaced after a 30000 mile checkup and power flush turn on the car and loud noise coming from engine. Was told that belts were loose. They should have been checked twice one wiht each service that was done. $600 service. They took it back and tightened them so they said. Next day noise again from them. Took it back into the dealer they had to be completely replaced.

We had the transmission replaced in April of 2003 and the clutch replaced in April 2003. The clutch was not covered under warranty. We paid total cost $366. 76. The transmission has now gone out again. The transmission is only 2 months old. This will be the 6th problem we have had with this car since October of 2002: (1) clutch switch oct 2002 (2) exhaust manifold cracked Apr 2003 (3) passenger side front window would not go up Apr 2003 (4) transmission failure April 2003 (5) clutch failure April 2003 (6) transmission failure June 2003.

Driver's rear power window motor failed.

Have had brakes worked on 5 times in past year, air conditioner smells musty every time you turn it on, gas warning light doesn't work, right rear window didn't work for over a year.

Fuse for power windows and a/c blower kept blowing out. Vehicle been to dealer on two occasions, and problem reoccurred. Feel free to provide any further information.

Rear passenger's side power window has stopped working. Window has been repaired 3 times.

Back power widows will not go down when botton is pushed.

First time I brought the car back was because the engine light went on and I had a oil leakage in the engine. Car started to shake even after it was hot and made a weird noise in the engine. The motor rr window was not working and the brakes were making some weird noise. Brought to the dealer to fix and he sent it to kia for repair, the kia crew found the front caliper frozen, but the customer denied to fix it. So I brought it to a specialist to check double check the car. They found the following defects and found the car unsafe (caliper rgt worn, frozen, caliper hardware worn, wheel cyl rgt- new/kit leaky, shoe hardware worn, c. V. Boot/joint rfo/rfi/lfo/lfi worn, coil springs front broken rr broken, ball joints/lower l worn). I spoke with the dealer because I still had warranty and told him I didn't want the car it was giving me hard times already and only having it at that time for not even a month. Speedometer malfuctioned/jumped at approx. 30mph to 40 mph then back down to 20 took back 3x. SUV shimmied at 60+ mph 3x's took back to dealer dealer replaced tires, electric back windows 3x's to dealer replaced twice, wiring assy-engine, coil ignition, conv. Assy-cat. Replaced (may have caused speedometer , windows etc to operate improperly. R/r main wire harness, r/r both cat convertors, r/r coil and spark plugs, repaired fuel injector wire harness. Vehicle idled at high rpm (SUV power surged to 80 mph, the slowest I could get the vehicle to go was 40mph and had to use the emergency brake. (throttle cable in wrong poss. At this time transmission is still slipping vehicle at dealership plus I am going through the lemon law and bbautoline. This is the 10 day limit. Kia has not been very hospitable about this situation, I do not feel safe in their vehicle.

Left rear window stopped functioning within 2 months of purchasing car (november2001). Dealer replaced regulator/motor. Right window functions most of the time, but when I get ready to take to dealer it functions correctly. Both rear windows stopped functioning summer of 2003. Took to dealer & both regulators/motors were replaced. Gear shift is slipping between gear by itself. Took to dealer and was adjusted June 2003.

Power window motor keeps going out. Had them replaced.

Power windows in rear on both left and right have stop working from time to time.

The right rear and left rear power windows fell down and were replaced.

Continual problems with 2001 kia Sportage convertible. Replacement of brakes 5 times, replacement of belts 6 times and 14 other problems. The cup holder, convertible top, and belts were replaced. The alarm wires were re-adjusted, the ac compressor, ignition coil pack, cd player right rear axle, right front strut, catalytic converter, center console, rear window fuse, spark plug and engine harness were all replaced numerous times.

The steering wheel is peeling, I have had it replaced but the new one is doing the same thing. The window strips are all twisted up and make a roaring sound when I drive. I have had them replaced but they still roar. The dash rattles, but they didn't fix it. The rear windows do not roll down. The radio has static most of the time. It doesn't seem to want to go when I accelerate. It kind of sputters and then goes. The bands squeal bad. They have been replaced but they still squeal.

All four windows get stuck, doors lock and unlock by themselves, vehicle is trying to shift into 4x4 while vehicle is in motion, air conditioner works 1 out of 4 times, latch opens on back of vehicle while in motion. Black tarry dust on front tires.

Motor powered regulator windows have been replaced in vehicle 6 times since April 2001.

While traveling on highway rear window fell down. Electrical motor isn't working. Dealership is aware of problem.

4-wheel drive does not always engage, both front hubs were replaced and pass operation cable adjusted, dealer claims the problems is fixed, however consumer states there is no difference once vehicle is repaired. Check engine light illuminated. Power window inoperable, dealer replaced window motor.

Power windows failed to operate properly, and caused electrical shocks to passengers whenever they touched metal of door. Vehicle has been at dealer's shop on several occasions before correction was made. Feel free to provide any further information.

Continual failure of battery , replaced 5 times and replaced alternator but contiues to have battery failure also windows and door lcks go on and off by themselves.

Windshielwipers would go so fast at times they flew off windshield, or so slow that they wouldn't hardly move, the driver side power window controls would not put down the back p[assenger side window, vehicle had a tendency to loose all power at 55 - 60 mph, vehicle caught fire on 9/06/200 due to electrical reasons vehicle is totaled most likely, all interior wiring , dash assemlby shifter and radio comp needs replace ment as well as all the interior windshiel headliner etc.

Vehicle has a shock problem when getting inside of vehicle. When turning vehicle on consumer gets a shock. Also, driver's side window doesn't go all the way down.

Im not happy that I bought a new car and it averages going into the shop every 6-8 weeks. I cant afford this. Im to arrange my own transportation while my car is in the shop, its been towed 3 times for the engine lite, when work is done they don't call and tell us what was wrong and it can be picked up, last time the car was in the shop they didnt call for over a week to tell me to come get it, I asked to speak with a manager and left several messages and they still havent called. I wil never buy a kia again or buy from any rizza. I feel like I bought junk, I want my money back, take the car. There is a class action lawsuit in the process at website 100% I hate kia. Thank youl.
