The driver seatbelt buckle does not stay buckled in. It is not attaching correctly. I have to push in the red button and then put the buckle in. Sometimes this will secure, other times I have to repeat the steps or it will come out while I am driving. I am concerned that if there was an accident the accident would not work correctly. I called to schedule an appointment and the dealership was also concerned. They checked recalls and there are none. They are unable to get my vehicle looked at until the end of June which is almost a month away.

This is a new car purchased in August 2022. A few months after I bought the car the rear, left passenger seat belt stopped working. I brought it into kia. They stated that they could find nothing wrong with it. A month later I brought it back and they agreed with me that it was not working correctly. This was April 10, 2023. I was told that a part would be ordered. It is now June 8th and kia has not yet replaced the seat belt. I contacted kia customer affairs and was given case number #15485151. I am still waiting.
The continued to over heat smoke and has burning smell and seat belt stop tracting and retracting.

I hit the side of a car I didn't see while pulling out of a car park onto the road, so I was moving slowly forward. A car had appeared from behind 2 turning cars and I hit the side of it. Neither the air bag or the seat belt in my car stopped my head from making contact with the windshield. I was very shaken at the time as anyone would be. The following day I needed to rest, and 2 days later went to er where I had a scan and was diagnosed with a concussion. Over 2 weeks later, I am much better but not yet fully recovered. I received a citation from the attending police officer for careless driving. I have contacted corporate kia to ask why both the airbag and seat belt failed to help me avoid injury. I attach a photo of the front of my car and the police report.

Automatic transmission intermittently, slipping gears but seems to resolve on it's own while driving on city streets and highway. Now also intermittently its not shifting gears at all also while driving on city street. Automatic tranny stuck in 4th and unable to manually shift into another gear. The instrument display shows esp on (electronic stability program) indicator and dbc on (downhill brake control) indicators when stuck in gear. Safety issue as unable to move with normal acceleration, but slow crawl to get out of roadway. Rear seatbelt wont latch when car is stationary.
2 months ago my daughters kia died at a stop sign, it would start but not idle or drive. Had it towed to midtown kia here in tulsa where all, and lots of problems, have been repaired. Gave them the issues and paid them to diagnose the problem. We bought the car new from a dealer in colorado but all repairs were done at local dealer. Took a week and my calling them to be told the starter was bad and it would take $424 to replace it to diagnose the problem the starter worked fine when we brought it in and the starter doesn`t need to be working to plug in the obd reader to check for fault codes! had the car towed back home, I am mechanically inclined and have proper tools. I borrowed an obd reader and it returned fault code for camshaft position sensors, I replaced those and still wouldn`t run. Cleared the codes and got faulty crankshaft sensor code, replaced that and still no success. Cleared codes and got faulty valve timing solenoid code, replaced those, car started and ran 2 days before engine locked up. Replace oil and filter regularly with mobil 1 synthetic, took proper care of vehicle as required. Vehicle has 180,000 miles.

My daughter, was involved in an accident on 1/29/19 at 7:45am. She was stopped and a truck hit her from behind and she hit the vehicle in front of her. The air bags did not go off and she hit her head on wheel, and windshield. Her son who was in back in his car seat, also hit his head. They both sustained severe concussions, black eyes, head aches, whip lash. The seat belt did not hold either of them in place nor did the air bags go off.

Air bag came out but did not inflate in head on collision seat belt did not restrain 40 mph head on in motion.
I filed a complaint before kia called and said they would replace seat belt as a courtesy but I would have to pay labor, dealer said a mouse chewed it, I had 2 people look at it and it is frayed, only one, no other seat belt, coat, towels, walmart totes nothing not even the papers that came with car and I am the only one that drives it except for dealership mechanics. I am not paying for something that they know is their fault. I filed in September, and they just called a week ago and today, if you can't help me I will take the matter to the state police for the seatbelt frayed is right across my chest . Nothing happened yet but if I am in a accident I will be hurt.

Inside rider seatbelt is frayed bad, when on it is across chest when not used frayed part is down inside, the kia garage is blaming a mouse chewed, no way could a mouse get in that tiny place that is only size of a thin paper plate, kia when I called he hung up on me,if I am in a accident injured or die from this they will be sued, I drove Friday,Saturday and Monday with air on no smell, Tuesday driver said as soon as he got in he couldn't stand the smell ,they said on my copy of service paper they found 2 mice living none dead, but person at garage said he found 1dead, one living, my paper I got from garage says 2 living none dead, this is beside the point for I know and so does garage and kia mfg. Know there is no way a mouse could get in there and chew, it is fraying like it is catching on very thin space where you get it out. I don't know how to get kia to listen after kia service said mice problem, what is really bad is kia mfg. Hanging up on me , garage saying what they said, and seat belt will not protect me in a accident.

Thankfully nothing broke just alot of bruising. Cannot figure out why brakes didnt work ended up using emergency brake to try slowing down impact.

We really do not know what went wrong, we were on route 19 n. At hico,wv and we turned onto a side road, the car sled on the gravel we hit the bank and turned on our side. The air bags did not go off and we couldn't get the seat belts to release so we were trapped in the car. The car was a total loss.

Bought this vehicle with only 11k miles from an elderly couple that hardly drove it. Now at 21k miles, there is a gas smell coming inside the vehicle and also outside of the vehicle. Has a rough idle and gas spews out of tank while I'm pumping gas. The front passenger tire sounds like it's about to fall off. Had to replace spark plugs twice already. Also, the driverside seatbelt will not retract. I bought this vehicle with only 11k miles thinking it will last for awhile, but I've had so many issues with it.

Driver side and front passenger shoulder belts are frayed which makes them unable to stay secure. It won't stop upper body movement when brakes are applied quickly. Driver side rear passenger window won't go down and motor in door still makes the noise like its wants to work but does not. Unable to pump more than a couple dollars of gas before it spits gas back out. While driving I smell electrical burning and wires under hood are burnt by the fan. Making the car hot due to fan not working properly.

My airbag light went on July 16 2016. I took the car to sussman kia in jenkintown PA. To check light. I was told it is a faulty seat belt . The air bag may not deploy properly. I was told to replace the seat bely assembly $715. 25. The work order invoice #52875--20 July 2016. Should this not be a recall item for safety by Kia Motors?.
I own a 2012 kia Sportage that I purchased from riverhead auto mall, that experience was wonderful. I originally purchased a kia for a few reasons, the affordability but mainly the 5 year/10 year warranty. Since I have purchased this vehicle, I have had a few issues that I have visited various service departments to rectify which have still not been resolved. These are safety related issues, which I spoke to customer service department regarding and cannot believe that kia would not stand behind their vehicles. I can guarantee you one thing, after my recent experiences with kia I will never purchase another kia or related vehicle again. For years, I have been trying to have two issues resolved, again both safety issues. First, the seatbelts on the driver side and passenger side do not fully retract. They end up getting stuck in the door, also more recently there are times when wearing a seatbelt and stepping on the brakes, the seatbelt is not restraining the person. Second, the driver side door lock will not open with either key you need to manually open the door. When the car is put into drive, the door will not lock. All other doors will lock, not the drivers door. I have brought the car to multiple service locations over the past few years trying to get these issues resolved. All while under warranty, and was told time after time this was an intermittent problem and my complaints were not showing at that time. In may I brought the car in again for service and was told that there would be a diagnostic fee for both issues of approximately $200 each to simply look at the issues. There is a great deal of details and paperwork that I have supplied to kia to support this. I went back and forth with multiple dealerships in between multiple surgeries since last summer.
Air bag light came on and passenger air bag light was blinking on and off. I took my car to the dealership and was told that there was a material defect in the seat belt tensioner connected to the wiring harness. They said that if I were to get into an accident that my airbags may not deploy. I have the best extended warranty that you can buy and they will not cover the replacement of the wiring harness because it has to do with the safety restraint system. This is absolutely ridiculous and unsafe!!! how is this not a recall when it is a material defect and is directly related to the safety of the vehicle? I have researched online and found that many other people are having the issue of their air bag light being on and little do they know that it's linked to this whole problem. This is not an isolated issue and from what I found there are many cases of the airbags not deploying in the case of an accident which is probably due to the same material defect.
The contact owns a 2007 kia Sportage. The contact stated that the front driver and passenger side seat belts continuously retracted while latched and failed to remain in place. The seat belts failed to hold the occupant in place. In addition, the contact noticed that the air bag warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 165,000.
This is my 82 year old mother in law car she says the air bag light keeps coming on and staying on so she took it to the dealer they charged her $150. 00 to look at it. This was on Nov 4 2014 the car had only 57047 miles on it. So in March it started doing it again so on March 27 2015 she goes to the dealer this time they didn't charge her but told her it would cost $2,600. 00 dollars to fix. The car only has 59312 miles on it. She is freaked out scared to drive her car and is on fixed income. The two codes they found were (b1489 OCS matt defect) and (b1495 belt tension sensor). My son says he thinks that the kia rio had the same problem and got recalled. I will give my info not my mothers thank you.
Just getting in vehicle ready to put on my seat belt it would not tighten nor retract back in so I could try again now the seat belt will not tighten at all it is very unsafe I will get tickted. I bought the vehicle as is.
The contact owns a 2002 kia Sportage. The contact stated that after leaning forward, the front passenger seat belt failed to retract. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000 and the current mileage was 134,000.
We were on our way to the hospital going 30mph, I reached down to pick up something off the passenger side floor( I was the passenger), when I heard a sound like breaking glass. We thought we had run over a glass object but when I turned to look back there was nothing there. I did notice that my seatbelt was no longer restraining me. The part that should have kept me safe, the seatbelt, had come completely out of its compartment. I know that if we had been in a wreck I would have gone through the windshield.
The contact owns a 2010 kia Sportage. The contact stated that the passenger's side air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that the passenger occupant seat sensor and the driver's side seat belt tension sensor were both defective. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 83,000.

I cannot fasten my seatbelt because it will not extend. I went to power kia in salem, or and they will not repair it unless I pay for repairs. Seeing how this is a product defect causing a safety issue, I feel the manufacture should be responsible for this, especially because it is the law to fasten the seat belts. Please let me know what to do.

The seat belt sensor for the air bags has gone out 3 times. The first time happened about 2500k miles and was under warranty, the second time was after 60k miles and we had to pay for it about $100, the third time it went out was about 80k miles. I was quoted $300 to have it replaced again but when I complained they offered to do it for $100. I think this is a safety issue and it appears to need a recall on the part. I do not think that we should have to pay to have this part replaced and in the mean time we are driving around without the sensor working for the air bag. Good job kia!.
The contact owns a 2006 kia Sportage. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who performed a diagnostic that located the failure at the seat belt module. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 68,289 and the current mileage 68,308.
