Sunroof mechanism failure in may 2025. Had sunroof repaired and paid out of pocket at kia dealership. The sunroof was off track therefore the roof was exposed to elements. March 2026 sunroof mechanism has broken again. Sunroof has not been operated since repair in may 2025 for fear of getting stuck open again.

The trim around the back driver side window fell off at some point. Safety was not put at risk. The product has not been inspected or confirmed and no warnings about the issue. I do know that other models have recalls for the same issue, but my car is not covered under that recall.

I have the white pearl paint on my 2020 Telluride. It’s chipping in chunks on the roof and in smaller batches across the body. I paid extra for this paint and from recent research, I’m reading this is a common issue. I’d like this to be repaired. I only have 37,000 miles on the vehicle. I first noticed it as small chips and now it’s present in more locations and expanding in width and length.
The pearl white paint used on kia and Hyundai models does not adhere to the primer coat underneath causing bubbling and eventual paint peeling issues overtime that is premature in nature. This has been reported in numerous locations across the internet as found by a basic search for the issue. Consumers are left to foot the bill on a improper manufacturing issue that should be taken care of by the manufacturer.
The trim on my passenger door is coming off! the adhesive is obviously defective. The piece flops when driving and is a risk to others as it may pop off. I’ve read that thousands of 2024 Telluride models have this problem! it is dangerous problem that kia needs to fix!.

Car was parked in the driveway when a large piece of the roof paint fell off. The car is the white/pearl color. Color is reportedly known to have defect.
Driver side power folding mirror is malfunctioning. It will sometimes get stuck in one position and won’t retract unless manually repositioned. It has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer. No warning lamps have appeared. A google search of the issue suggests this may be a common issue with the vehicle make and model.
My vehicle has 300 miles on it and I owned it for 5 days. I was driving when the front sunroof glass exploded and blew glass up and out of the vehicle. It scratched my roof, panoramic glass and multiple other panels. Kia of chattanooga was very unprofessional when I brought this to their attention. The sales manager, kevin williams, told me my claim with kia was denied before I had even reported a claim to kia. When I asked him about this, he would not provide me with any information of who he spoke to within kia and told me to report a fraudulent claim to my insurance stating an object hit my sunroof. Luckily, the car behind me that was peppered with glass and pulled over behind me had a gopro video running and captured the entire incident. The video clearly shows the glass exploding up and out from inside my vehicle and then covers the entire front of his vehicle. Kia would not admit liability and said it’s impossible for the sunroof to break without anything hitting it. When I spoke to the general manager, he told me the same thing until I showed him the class action suit against kia for this issue. At that point, he told me kia is choosing to deny the claims and not admit any product defect and he seemed to know a lot of information for a topic he just previously said he had never heard of. Kia corporate has not made a decision but it is clear they are setting themselves up for denial. If denied, my next step is to file suit as I have over $6k in damages on a 5 day old vehicle with 300 miles on it. If anybody would like to see the video for their own claim, let me know.

The sunroof deflector assembly spring broke and caused the sunroof to hang up on the passenger side. I have opened the sunroof less than ten times. With the sunroof hung up on the passenger side it attempted to open and caused damage to the whole assembly. Now the dealership is wanting $5,000 to fix due to a faulty part.
The snow white pearl paint on my 2020 kia Telluride is rapidly peeling directly above my front windshield. It started as a small 2 inch area first and quickly turned into multiple large areas where the paint is pealing. The largest portion is now roughly 5-6 inches in width. I believe the entire care needs to be repainted as fixing one spot is not the solution. I have not contacted the kia dealership or any local repair shops but I could get a quote as needed. Please let me know how to proceed.
Window trim flew off on expressway. This is a known issue with kia.
Went to the carwash and the sunroof exploded.
While driving at interstate speeds the sunroof window shattered outward. This was not the result of a rock or flying ice event as no other cars where near by at the time. I have found that many others have experienced this issue and kia refuses to cover the repairs even though it appears to be an issue with kia Telluride sunroofs. If the sun shade had been open at the time both me and my 12 year old son would have been covered with glass and this could have caused a high speed accident from the glass and the sound of the explosion. Kia needs to address this issue but our request for compensation has been denied. Also kia refused to provide documentation of this denial as it was in an email from the local dealer to kia.
I was notified of a recall on my vehicle related to door trim. I contacted my authorized kia dealership to have the recall repaired and was told the required parts are unavailable, with no estimated timeline for resolution. I have been on a waitlist for over one year with no update. The unrepaired defect causes excessive noise that makes the vehicle unsafe and unsuitable for highway travel. I have submitted a formal demand letter to kia America requesting either expedited repair, a vehicle buyback, or compensation for damages — and have received no response after 17 days.
The white paint on our Telluride peeled and feel off for not apparent reason.
The window trim on all four of my windows has come or is coming apart. There is a hazard to having these items fly off my car. I went into kia reported the issue and they stated the parts are in back order. The existing trim has been taped down as this can impact other vehicles on the road. I am supposed to get a call with the parts like many others on this forum and have heard nothing back. Fyi it’s not just the plastic of the trim that has come loose but the whole trim panel under the windows.
Paint is peeling above the windshield.
The body trim is starting to fall off. I have at least 2 trims that are barely hanging on. This has been a problem on my vehicle since December 2024. A recall was issued August 2025 but no remedy is available and still not available even after letters have been sent out to owners. I am afraid to drive my vehicle and it seems like kia doesn't care. I don't understand why they can't fix this problem.
Sunroof has got jammed in open position. You have issued a statement on this now kia will not manufacture the parts to the roof (backorder really) and wants to charge you $5000 to put a whole new roof on -.
I have trim pieces around side windows falling off my new vehicle or in process of falling off my vehicle. This seems to be possible safety hazard to other vehicles on the road.
Vehicle sunroof has become stuck in it’s tilted open position. The spoiler at the front has detached. Since the sunroof cannot close, if there is a wind, hitting the car, the sunroof can’t detach from the car at this point, and fly into another car. This issue has been reported with the numerous kia Telluride’s as seen on the internet. It is not nearly anesthetic problem. It is a safety issue.
In November 2024, the sunroof mechanism failed in a crooked, partially open position and would no longer move. The motor operated, but there was a grinding noise and no movement of the sunroof. I had to return from north carolina to alabama in the rain with a partially open sunroof. The service department at bramlett kia in decatur, alabama, confirmed the sunroof mechanism has to be replaced. The service technician said the electrical cable to the sunroof was caught in the mechanism. Parts were ordered and took several weeks to be shipped. The sunroof is to be repaired next week. This is obviously a defective design and could lead to safety issues if the sunroof were to become detached while the vehicle is moving. My sunroof has stayed in place but the mechanism is bent on both sides and loose in one corner. I don't know if the sunroof is still being held safely by the mechanism. Parts invoice ($2907) is attached. Labor is estimated at $1000 but I do not yet have the invoice.
This 2020 kia Telluride has paint peeling in between the windshield and sun roof. I have seen tons of post of this happening to people. Kia should be held responsible for this.
Vehicle has pearl white paint that is peeling off the entire hood where the letters "telluride" are. Concern is future rust and issues. If vehicle rusts it can cause other issues and further rust throughout the vehicle. Appeared 11/10/2024.
Paint is delaminating from top and hood of vehicle.
Sunroof is stuck in an open position unable to be closed. Upon attempting to open the sunroof, the deflector snapped off the assembly and the sunroof track broke. Took car to dealership (raceway kia, 4044 us-9, freehold, NJ 07728) for service. Dealership indicated the sunroof is beyond repair and requires installation of an entirely brand new sunroof assembly at a cost of $5730 because it occurred outside the warranty (warranty expired at 60,000 miles and the car had 70,463 miles when sunroof broke). They were unable to manually close the sunroof as a temporary solution. Therefore, the sunroof remains open due to the broken track and is covered with plastic to avoid the elements. There were no prior symptoms indicating that the sunroof would break in this way. In fact, in three years of ownership, the sunroof was rarely used and only opened a handful of times before breaking. At this time of this writing, the sunroof is available for inspection while I look for more economical means of repair versus the dealership's plan to replace the entire assembly.
Was opening the sunroof and heard a popping sound. Wind deflector arm broke and now the sunroof will not close all the way leaving the risk of interior of car getting wet and creating mold since I live in an already humid climate.
The sunroof broke while being opened which required immediate repair since it was propped open. The only fix according to the dealer was to replace the entire unit which cost more than $5k with parts and labor.
Sunroof/moonroof will no longer close. It is stuck in the open position and this will cause water to enter the cabin if it rains. The vehicle was examined by the dealer and they confirmed that a component is fault and will need to be replaced. No warning lamps or additional symptoms were noticed prior to the sunroof malfunctioning. The vehicle only has 44,100 miles.
The roof paint is delaminating . The problem has only gotten worst. The color is pearl white. Multiple calls to kia consumer service and dealer- no action and response.
Sunroof started to open and came off track and bent the tracking system beyond repair. Sunroof stuck in half open position and tilted or wedged in open position. Concern that it would fly off when driving and could not shut it to protect the interior in case of rain. There has already been a recall on the kia sorento sunroof moving tracking system in the recent past. This should be taken into consideration to have this be a recall on the kia Telluride.
The sunroof came off the track on the passenger side as I was trying to open it fully.
Wind deflecters on sunroof have broken off which is making it inoperable.
