On my way home from picking up my grandchild there was some vibrating on the passenger side of the automobile. Than a loud explosion followed by rubber burning smell and lost of control of car. Managed to pull over car would not rolling had to engage parking brake. Had car towed home. Drive shaft seperated and destroyed transmission pan. Broke pieces off of tansmission. Change rotors and brake and car still will not come to a complete stop without sliding a bit. Abs lights come on every time this happens. Both incidents happen while im driving streets or highway.

2 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2000 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 05/13/2009

The contact owns a 2000 Land Rover Discovery. While driving 40 mph up an on ramp, the accelerator pedal became stuck to the floor. As a result, the speed increased to 120 mph. The contact was unable to stop the vehicle for approximately five minutes. She experienced several unrelated issues with the vehicle prior to this incident. The abs warning lights illuminated when the vehicle was purchased and remain lit until the vehicle is serviced. After the repair, the light would illuminate again. Land rover commended the contact for dealing with the situation, but have not offered to assist. Land rover stated that they would consider assisting according to the lemon law, but have not gotten back to the contact. The dealer replaced the missing part, provided a loaner vehicle, and gave the contact a list of defects with the vehicle. The current and failure mileages were 90,000.

4 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 1999 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 08/01/2005

The consumer complained about an abs brake problem. , there was a faulty right wheel sensor which caused the hill descendent control, traction control light, and the abs light to come on . Contact started noticing this problem on August 1, 2005. Contact took the vehicle to the dealer, and they confirmed this was a safety issue, but have not issued a recall. The dealer was going to fix the vehicle at consumer's expense. These lights stayed on all the time.

5 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2001 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 03/07/2005

Contact stated the abs module was defective. The abs warning light illuminated. The service dealer stated there was documentation that the brake pads were placed on corroded rotors, causing the module to become defective. One rotor was replaced. The dealership refused to replace the abs module. Contact stated she was deceived when she purchased the vehicle. Dealer did not inform her that there was a problem with the vehicle.

6 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 1996 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 01/03/2005

Abs light is on. Brakes appear to work normal. Occasional, for no appearant reason abs kicks on and causes brakes vibrate/pulse and make it extremely difficult to stop. After that for a short period the abs light is off. Closest dealer is 3 hours away and I can't find anyone aroud to look at it.
