1 Equipment problem of the 2019 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 12/19/2025

This vehicle is mostly garaged when not on the road and has approximately 33,800 miles on it. On 12/19/2025 I parked the car in a lot while I went to an appointment in allendale, NJ. It rained fairly heavily. About an hour later I returned to my vehicle and found water dripping down the inside of the left side of the front windshield and mirror over and onto the steering wheel and housing, and onto the dashboard. I immediately wiped the water up and drove to my Land Rover dealer in paramus, NJ where the car had been purchased new in 2019. An appointment was made for 2 weeks later. I was told there were other incidents of windshield leaks in the model (and possibly other lr products) and they said they couldn't do temporary fixes and either windshield had to be replaced or possible fix w/o replacement. I recently found on line various incidents reported of windshield leaks some of which damaged electrical connections that caused driving and safety hazards. Also found lemon law case advertisement (2024?) about this type of damage. Significantly, found online 3/23/2020 lr “service action n221 windshield water” re 2018 Discovery & 2015-2018 evoque, see attached. My local auto body shop put on temporary tape to mitigate leak until fixed. Have been driving for many years & owned numerous cars over that time. I never saw or heard of such a leak. For this to happen out of the blue in my view in a well maintained car that looks brand new is a manufacturing defect that the manufacturer should be responsible for beyond any warranty without the need for litigation, as well as a safety and driving hazard that should not occur.

Had koch 33 perform assessment and they reproduced water and air leak and determined windshield is loose and not adhered. Erie insurance says not covered and it is "wear and tear. " no warning lamps or other symptoms prior to failure. Fearful of windshield coming loose/off if involved in crash and fearful that the water may be affecting the electrical system of internal lights and sunroof/moonroof. Available for inspection upon request.

4 Equipment problem of the 2020 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 11/24/2025

3 years ago my wife got in her car after a rain storm and center console was soaked in water. Leak coming from top of the windshield. Send it in for repairs. Fast forward 3 years later and it's still doing the same thing. Dealer said since it was repaired under a recall the first time that they wont repair it again. If its still leaking they obviously didn't repair the issue. Its only 5 years old.

5 Equipment problem of the 2019 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 10/07/2025

The Land Rover Discovery was in "reverse". Not aware that the vehicle was in reverse, the car door was opened and the driver started to step out of the car. At a high rate of speed (approximately 5-7 mph), the vehicle automatically accelerated in reverse, the open car door hit the garage track and ripped the driver side door off. The vehicle continued in reverse and slammed into an neighbor's structure. With the car door opened, like many other cars, the car should not have moved. With the driver not sitting in the seat, the car should not have moved. The high rate of acceleration was an additional issue, whether that waas software related or not is unknown. The driver side door was hanging by the electronics and the vehicle is still being accessed but the "a" frame is suspected to be bent.

6 Equipment problem of the 2019 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 10/07/2025

The vehicle was left in reverse. The driver started to exit the car, the vehicle went in reverse, ripped off teh car door on the garage siding, bent teh "a" frame and continue in reverse slamming into a neighbors structure.

8 Equipment problem of the 2018 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 04/14/2025

Vehicle is leaking water from a pillars and it is damaging the vehicles electrical systems. Humidity build up and mildew from the entry of water after a down pour caused mold to build up throughout the entire floor board. Dealer ship needs to address these issues and have a complementary inspection/service to resolve this matter. This can lead to electrical problems and airbag inoperative issues. To conclude this can total the owners vehicle since the fuses sit by the a pillar. Water entry will also cause corrosion to vehicle cause damage and jeopardizing the integrity of the vehicle structure.

9 Equipment problem of the 2019 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 01/24/2025

The door latch on the rear right of the car failed while driving, door wouldn't close, my 8 year old son sits on that side for school runs. This was replaced under the recall but it failed again. Also I've had 2 window regulators go in this vehicle apparently it's a common problem window would not go up or down.

10 Equipment problem of the 2024 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 12/30/2024

Driving down the highway at night in the rain and car died completely. . . All electronics shut off, car shut off and had no power to steering or breaks or anything. Would not start once it was pulled over and had to be towed to dealer. At the dealership I was told the leaking windshield had eroded the wiring throughout. They could not start or power the car at all. They removed the complete interior and have had the car for 45 days with no estimate of when it is drivable again.

11 Equipment problem of the 2018 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 12/30/2024

Water leaking from roof, thought it was from the surround sunroof. Could hear air coming from roof. On December 30, 2024, after three weeks of heavy rain, found cup holders filled with water. Car started up, but the round button would not lift up from console next to cup holders. Could not put the car in drive, reverse, or neutral. Had to call for tow truck and take to dealership. Was told that the water damage was not from the sunroof, but in fact, from the front windshield coming detached from the glue. This was a great concern for me, because of the safety issue of not knowing that there was a problem with the 2018 models having this issue. We had done our research in looking up any issues with this car before we bought it. We did not find anything describing this issue. The windshield could have come unattached while driving down the highway at 60-70 mph.

12 Equipment problem of the 2020 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 07/20/2024

Driving with my children, right rear door all of a sudden opened without warning. Doors were all locked. Pulled over, closed the door but latch was not catching with door. It's as if nothing was holding the door in place. I had to have my 14 year old daughter hold the car door while we canceled our vacation and drove three hours back home.

13 Equipment problem of the 2024 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 04/26/2024

My car caught on fire while driving only 5 days, and 210 miles, after being purchased brand new. I first smelled melted plastic, few seconds after that saw smoke rising up under the driver seat and then felt the seat getting hot and saw flames shooting under my seat. All along there were no warning messages or light displayed on the car. The car burned completely and was deemed totaled by my insurance. Insurance investigation, along with Land Rover representatives and local law enforcement detectives that were assigned to the case, determined it to be a manufacturing issue.

14 Equipment problem of the 2019 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 04/29/2023

Windshield is leaking and during heavy rain it floods the cup holders and damages the electronics. Exactly like previous recall https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/tsbs/2020/mc-10173517-0001. Pdf windshield has never been replaced and the vehicle has never been in an accident.

15 Equipment problem of the 2020 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 04/24/2023

Rear hatch has opened while driving. Pulled to side of road and closed the hatch. Another time it opened while in parking lot. First time April 24, 2023. Second occurrence June 27, 2023.

16 Equipment problem of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 12/01/2022

I am reporting this issue because after contacting Land Rover headquarters and was told that they do not recognize this issue as a problem. To add to my complaint is the fact that a lawsuit was brought to the tennessee district court for this very matter. There is an apparent defect on the windshield, mainly on the passenger side. I just confirmed that the windshield is slightly loose on the passenger side, which leads to water leakage. The vehicle is a 2017 Land Rover Discovery 5 (l462), this problem presents a clear danger as any accident that the car is involved in could lead the vehicle's airbag, on the passenger side, ejecting the windshield - not to mention what would occur on a rollover. I have tried to reach management at both the us and uk offices and they are not available from what I am told. I would mention that these vehicles are a danger and we are told that the brand sells quality. However, it appears to be quite the opposite. I provided a service action (n221) detailing the matter in question but they have excluded the 2017 Land Rover from this service action. I also attached the lawsuit brought in the courts of tennessee which mentioned that windshield subpar seal, which causes water leakage. If there is a rollover on Land Rovers l462 years 2017 to present, the windshield will not perform as designed and people may day.

17 Equipment problem of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 11/29/2022

Front windshield has a leak for the second time. The first time it was replaced a year ago, and now the leak is in the top of the windshield frame causing water to leak onto the dash and also on to infotainment screen from the rear view mirror above. Loss and failure of electrical components is a real consternation in regard to this issue. Apparently this is an ongoing manufacturer production failure, with many complaints from owners of this vehicle across the internet. The service mgr. At the dealership informed me that I need to pay $650 to have the windshield replaced. I feel that this issue is the responsibility of Land Rover and has to be resolved with a recall. Please let me know if there is any help available in this regard. Thank you jack fromberg.

18 Equipment problem of the 2019 Land Rover Discovery

21 Equipment problem of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 01/08/2022

There is a leak from the windshield. A lot of landrover Discovery’s owners having the same issue and the manufacturer is not fixing it if the vehicle is not on warranty. I called my dealer in orlando and they told me that I should take it to my insurance but it was not caused by an accident. It is a problem with most discoveries from 2020 and under. Please help! thanks!.

22 Equipment problem of the 2020 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 12/11/2021

After the recent rain we had in CT and the northeast we got in the car and water was dripping out of screw holes in the lighting and from the headliner just below the area where the windshield meets the body of the vehicle. The water was dripping into the drive selector and other electronics and the headliner was saturated with water. After calling multiple Land Rover dealers I was informed that failure of the seals on the windshield on the Land Rover Discovery and some other models is a "known issue". The company has recalled a few of these models but not nearly enough. The vehicle now has to be assessed for water damage, cleaning, mold an the wind shield has to be replaced as well as any other compromised components. To top it all off, Land Rover has no loaner vehicles and won't pay for rental cars for affected owners, despite their long knowledge of this issue and failure to do anything to rectify it. Further, they are short of parts so their current solution is to dry out the car, "reseal" the windshield and give the car back to you until all of the replacement parts arrive, which could take months. So people have to be without their vehicle or driving a potentially compromised vehicle, since we won't know the extent of the water damage for some time, and they are just letting this issue continue while doing nothing. Land rover should be forced to fix all existing cars, inform all potential buyers of a new car of this issue and redesign the car to fix this problem for good. It is not only a nuisance but can certainly be a major safety hazard if the water penetration goes unnoticed for some time and damages electronics and drive components.

23 Equipment problem of the 2018 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 11/19/2021

Leaking front windshield at the center and right. Known issue with this car and series, but somehow this specific VIN is not in the group for the recall. This occurred exactly like the others and it should be covered. I had to argue with aristocrat motors in miriam and they decided (for now, hasn't been completed) to cover it. This should be covered for the other vins that aren't included in the recall.

24 Equipment problem of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 10/25/2021

I have a 2017 Land Rover Discovery with multiple episodes of significant water leakage problems due to a known windshield seal issue on the model as identified by the dealer. During the warranty the windshield and seal were replaced and would then fail twice, on the 2nd occurrence I instructed to the dealer to notate my account with concerns about electrical issues due to the amount of water that entered the dashboard, center console, and overhead electrical. Reviewing my own service records I can see electrical problems occurred on the vehicle with notes to "let it dry out". The final time this happened was just outside of manufacturer's warranty still within the cpo period, we were told it was no longer covered even though this has never been solved. Dealer stated they've never seen this much water come in, we have significant staining and electrical concerns for which lrna show no concern or remorse. I am uncomfortable being put in a position to sell this car knowing what happened and the potential repair costs (10k+ for significant electrical work) plus the safety concerns of failure. My car has been at the dealer for almost 20 days now with no loaner and no activity on my case. I have spoken to my case worker only twice, once when I opened it and once when she finally answered one of my calls 10 days later. I call every day to ask for updates, the dealer reaches out on my behalf and still no progress has been made. No loaners have been offered, 10 days in I was told I would need to wait another 10 days, plus the dealer indicated at least 3 days to order the windshield (at least 23 days total at the dealership). I believe water entering a vehicle like it did and coming into contact with electrical systems poses a significant threat to the operability and safety of the vehicle with lrna showing no regard for the situation, happily letting myself or someone else get "stuck" with this problem and the potential failure assocaited with it.

25 Equipment problem of the 2021 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 10/18/2021

This is an update to complaint number 11436854, submitted on 10/14/2021, 5:53:21 pm additional service has been performed on the vehicle to identify and correct random electrical faults interrupting the safe operations of this vehicle. Service record generated by Land Rover boise, id (ro number 520844) is attached as an uploaded file. This ro indicates the third repair by Land Rover dealers that have serviced this vehicle (lynnwood, wa; flatirons, CO and boise, id) regarding the ground stud update, and now provides the documentation of another ground fault in the locking actuator (door locks are randomly actuating w/driving).

26 Equipment problem of the 2021 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 09/13/2021

This vehicle should be considered as a "drive at your own risk" vehicle. Engine randomly fails to start using push button start in coordination with pressing on the brake pedal. Dash and gages indicated all electrical systems were on and no warning symbols were displayed. Repeated attempts by owner to start vehicle failed. Attempts using remote start app erroneously indicated that the vehicle was already in operation. Fail-to-start generally existed for 2-4 hours before the vehicle would randomly start. Failure to start and stranding owner repeated 4 times over the next 8 days, including while the vehicle was in service shop of dealer. Dealer service could not identify source of the problem and produced records that the safety recall for the battery ground stud issue had already been performed. Dealer service records (attached) recommended against driving vehicle due to "what seems to be intermittent high speed power train communications fault". Owner has requested dealer by back due to this repetitive and unresolved safety problem. Refusal from Land Rover to buy the vehicle back places this consumer safety issue back into owners hands which triggered the moral obligation to submit this information to the NHTSA as a safety problem.

27 Equipment problem of the 2021 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 08/17/2021

After 2000 miles of driving, I received a warning that I had reduced traction and needed to drive with caution. When I took vehicle to dealer they determined the “initial configuration was not complete”.

28 Equipment problem of the 2021 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 05/21/2021

Received an error message stating reduced traction only 2 wheel drive and to drive with caution. Took it to the dealer to discover the software was not programmed for the 4wd modules.

29 Equipment problem of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 03/29/2021

Your website does not recognize the existence of a 2017 Discovery. Instead it lists only Discovery sport, and entirely different vehicle with an entirely different engine and other components. Therefore, I cannot trust your listing of recalls, etc. Please look into this and correct both the search function and the results page to show correct info.

30 Equipment problem of the 2018 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 02/22/2021

Vehicle rolled back when in the park position. Vehicle had no occupants. Vehicle parked on an incline. Roll back occurred several minutes after shifter was placed in the park position and minutes after I exited the vehicle. Extremely worrisome. 2018 Land Rover Discovery.

31 Equipment problem of the 2019 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 11/26/2020

I purchased a 2019 Land Rover on October 3,2020. I noticed entire dashboard including seats windshield rear view mirror is filled with water. I have a dual sunroof, I do not see or feel any leaks. Carmax neither landrover have assisi or found problem. The vehicle was stationary.

32 Equipment problem of the 2019 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 04/15/2020

There's a water-proofing defect with the Discovery Land Rover (at least 2017-2019). I previously purchased new a 2017 Discovery new, and water entered from the roof and windshield and the dealer replaced it with a 2019. Same issue is occurring - with rain water entering from windshield and roof and flooding interior of car. Appears to be a defect in manufacturing that causes safety issues as water is literally dripping on the driver and front interior while I drive the car.

33 Equipment problem of the 2018 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 08/22/2019

Let me start, by saying this happened 2 months ago, in monterrey n. L mexico. I was pulling out of my driveway the car felt like it turned off and it pulled to the right and I crashed hitting two cars. Sent it to range rover and they stated the power steering box was damaged and I asked them about any recall the said no thier hadn't been. I need my car fixed can you help please. Mexico doesn't want to do this under warranty. Claim that warranty is only for canada and us. I could have killed people and this would have been on your company I need my problem look at.

34 Equipment problem of the 2019 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 06/12/2019

Bought car last may, 2019, and within four months was back and forth to the dealership for repairs. Water got inside my vehicle from the front windshield with water everywhere inside, including the dashboard, screen and main console. Dealership said it was from the window recalls, but mine never was recalled. They said the seals where faulty. Faulty engine O2 sensor (three faulty codes) right when I was driving back from my windshield repair. Turned around and dropped car back off. Camera system fault message was on the screen. They claim nothing was wrong. This was after water got into my car. Basically, I'm just waiting for the next thing to happen with my car with so much water getting inside the cabin and main console area. Dealership said they can do nothing about it as everything is working now. Vehicle was sitting outside when water got inside. When other items happened, I was driving. These happened on June of 2019, September of 2019 and November 0f 2019.

35 Equipment problem of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery

Failure Date: 05/24/2019

I was driving on main road at the speed limit (45 mph). I had slowed down as I observed a car pulling out ahead of me onto the road. As I gave my vehicle gas in order to get back up to speed, I felt a pause in the engine and then the car completely lost power- the engine stopped, the red battery icon appeared on the dash, and message appeared on the screen with the heading "special program suspended" or something to that effect-- I had no time to read that message as I had to steer my car as far to the right as I was able to. I tried to restart the vehicle, it would not start and the message disappeared-- I had no chance to read it as I was on a busy and heavy traveled road and had to ensure I was safely pulled over. Unknown at this time as to what caused this malfunction. This created an unsafe condition as the car lost power with no forewarning. I am lucky that it did not happen on the highway on which I travel most of the time. I contacted Land Rover roadside assistance and the car was put on a flatbed and brought to the dealer.
