2 Suspension problem of the 2007 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 04/29/2022

As electrical harness issue as described in NHTSA reference #10056417, the suspension fails and dash reports suspension fault, leading to a suspension that is extremely unstable and could cause vehicle to roll over even at low speeds less than 30 mph. My safety and the safety of nearby drivers was at risk while driving in a construction area near my home. I had to make an emergency erratic stop, once the suspension started bucking wildly after hitting a minor bump on the street, almost damaging the referenced car as well as those cars around me that were skidding to a stop. Yes, the problem is well documented in the above NHTSA reference and technical bulletin (https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/tsbs/2014/sb-10056417-1282. Pdf) has been published that does not solve the safety issue once the damage has occurred. Not only has it been confirmed by multiple sources, but the manufacturer has published the technical bulletin with recommendations that don't solve the issue; rather, they put a band aid on it, that only helps if you find the issue prior to it occurring. Vehicle state has been well documented by dealer recommended Land Rover service center. Warning lamps, messages, appeared on dash immediately prior to the unresponsive suspension issue. All previous service and recalls were performed by dealership; however, no recommendation for performing the technical bulletin above was every mentioned which could have feasibly avoided the potentially life threating issue.

3 Suspension problem of the 2006 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 11/19/2019

Suspension fault light comes on when driving. Vehicle moves up and down. I have seen more than numerous complaints on the air compressor and faulty sensors. Why aren't they being repaired by Land Rover. A vehicle of this type and cost should not have this problem. Are they waiting for time to run out?.

4 Suspension problem of the 2008 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 05/17/2019

Stationary - one of the electronic control module is not communicating with some of the parts. Not sure if this is software upgrade required or what the issue might be.

5 Suspension problem of the 2005 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 03/09/2016

The air ride suspension is totally dead. There was a recall years ago but I didnt get it done. Now when I search recalls its not there, because someone thinks the work was completed. That is simply false. I can barely drive this vehicle now because the left side dropped due to air suspension. The service guy told me the suspension was built improperly.

6 Suspension problem of the 2008 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 03/11/2014

On 3/11/14 the suspension warning light came on the dash. I took it to a local auto repair shop who had the diagnostic equipment for Land Rover (the closest dealer is 3 hrs away). The diagnostic indicated that the compressor for level control was faulty. The diagnostic indicated "recommend compressor replacement with updated compressor". The repair ship indicated that they have had to replace several of these. I then contacted the dealer in jacksonville to determine if there had been a recall. They replied no that they also have had to replace this with the "updated compressor" as the original factory installed ones had a design flaw. The replacement part was changed so that the problem would not occur again. I then contacted Land Rover north american to determine if they would reimburse me for the repair. They refused. I had the compressor replaced by my local auto repair shop for $1, 200. I do believe this problem is a safety issue and not a normal defect that would be covered by warranty. My vehicle is out of warranty, but this should not make a difference for a factory installed defective designed part. I was told by the repair shop that the system could fail completely while driving , which would then be a safety issue. I noticed another complaint has been filed on NHTSA id#10564234 where this occurred. As my 17 year old daughter is the main driver of this vehicle, I was very concerned for her safety should this occur while she was driving. I would hope that ntsb will investigate this issue and determine from Land Rovers records, how many of these have had to be replaced, what their internal engineering/quality control records show about this defectively designed part, and why they did not recall all the vehicles which used the original part that was later changed.

7 Suspension problem of the 2008 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 02/03/2014

While operating my Land Rover Lr3 at normal highway speed, approximately 55-65 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost all power to the eas (electronic air supspension). When this happened the vehicle lost all pressure in air system which maintained a safe ride height and stable handling. Once the vehicle lowers itself onto the bump stops it is literally riding on the frame. I followed the direction given by the in-dash warning system and slowed the vehicle to a stop, turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle regained it's proper ride height momentarily and again lost pressure to the suspension system. The safety issue at question is if this should happen to a young or inexperienced driver or the in dash warning system fail simultaneously an individual could find themselves in a very dangerous or possibly life threatening position. If the vehicle drops onto the frame it is traveling without suspension and can quickly produce an out of control vehicle at a normal rate of speed one could expect on the nations freeways. After further research I have learned this is a common occurrence and has until now been a safety issue simply over looked by ntsb, I hope with this notification and consumer concern ntsb will take action and hold Land Rover accountable for this safety issue traveling the roads of America today. An immediate recall should be executed on all Land Rover vehicles equiped with the electronic air suspension and repairs/replacement should be levied onto Land Rover north America until all of these vehicles have been effectively repaired. Failure to do so at this point is clearly irresponsible on the behalf of the ntsb.

8 Suspension problem of the 2006 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 01/13/2014

Suspension fault light came on, dealer says the compressor needs to be replaced, $1600 for a part that seems to be a very popular problem with Lr3. Why there hasn't been a recall, or a service bulletin on this is beyond me.

9 Suspension problem of the 2006 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 11/29/2013

Driving, then default suspension light turns on. Then hydraulics completely stop working . Back seat seatbelt not working properly. Passenger airbag light turns on. Transmission pulls improperly. Electrical system, radio, clock, cd player stops working.

10 Suspension problem of the 2005 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 02/13/2013

Air suspension fault cant go over 35 miles per hour bad compressor dealer says. Now I'm hearing this the number 1 problem and complaint of my model.

11 Suspension problem of the 2006 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 09/03/2010

I bought a 2006 Lr3 about a year ago from a dealer in south florida. The vehicle only has 39k miles on it and last week the suspension fault indicator came on. I took the truck to the dealer to have a diagnostic and they told me that the suspension compressor is not working. To replace the part is $1200 because the car is no longer under warranty. If the compressor fails, the suspension fails and the truck can end up riding on the tires at any time until the compressor is fixed. I spoke with Land Rover north America and they will not pay to replace the defective part. So now I am stuck with a $1200 repair on a vehicle that only has 39k miles.

12 Suspension problem of the 2006 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 09/19/2009

Vehicle has approximately 65k miles and have been notified that the suspension air compressor must be replaced. This appears to be a very common problem. The dealer is unable to repair the vehicle at this time due to the part being on back order due to the number of vehicles needing this same repair. The compressors are obviously not the best quality with the elevated level of failures. Hopefully the part comes in before a complete failure of the compressor.

13 Suspension problem of the 2006 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 02/20/2008

I had my landrover Lr3 vehicle serviced at the alexandria, va while at this dealership I requested to have service which I discovered was issued through a landrover manufactures bulletin completed also. On October 23, 2007, my vehicle was brought into the bethesda, MD landrover dealership for servicing, including the maintenance work, repair of the brake lights and repair of the sunroof. The dealership stated that I needed replacement tires and an alignment I questioned the logic of the tires prematurely wearing. I decided to research the matter further. These conditions existed when the vehicle was at the bethesda, MD location, but were not taken care of which was part of the service warranty. Daniels promised to me that he would take care of the directives costs, I received a phone call from the person who identified himself as denise matiupa, a supervisor. Denise started the conversation off by yelling that he had reviewed the notes associated with the decision to deny me coverage and want to know what I wanted. Denise stated that it had not been serviced when it was in bethesda, MD. I told denise that I requested it. Denise stated that he had no record of my request. I told denise, he also doesn't have any record of my not requesting it. I reminded denise that if landrover puts out a directive, the dealerships receive them, not the customer. The service ticket on the day that I had my vehicle in bethesda, MD clearly notes that the tires, hence, the suspension system was prematurely malfunctioning and it is the dealership duty under the warranty to execute all required routine services. Denise stated that he was sticking by the decision. Please assist me as you can in obtaining a reversal of this denial decision.

14 Suspension problem of the 2005 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 01/10/2008

The contact owns a 2005 Land Rover Lr3. While driving less than 60 mph, the vehicle veered to the right. The dealer made the necessary repairs, but the failure occurred three additional times. The vehicle was returned to the dealer and a four wheel alignment was performed. After the fourth failure, the contact became suspicious that the repairs would only provide a temporary remedy indefinitely. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 26,000 and current mileage was 44,000. Updated 10/16/08 updated 10/17/08.

15 Suspension problem of the 2005 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 01/10/2008

Comments: we currently own a 2005 landrover Lr3, in 2006 the company issued a technical service bulletin regarding their suspension which causes dangerous uneven tire wear. The company acknowledged the issue and at the factory changed the suspension of subsequent models, however they allowed current owner such as ourselves and our three children to drive unsafe vehicle without notification. We have had severely uneven and potentially deadly tire wear twice with this SUV. I don't know how many other vehicles are being driven with this unsafe issue. Landrover north America refuses to take responsibility. Someone is going to rollover these SUV's or have a high speed blow out. Does someone have to die before landrover takes notice? we thought you should know to try and save some lives.

16 Suspension problem of the 2005 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 10/11/2007

The tires are wearing excessively. The problem was corrected at 18,000 miles service interval with an alignment and reappeared at 30,000 service. The dealer suggest changing the tires more often. They can not explain the cause.

17 Suspension problem of the 2006 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 07/28/2007

Shortly after purchasing my new 2006 Lr3 I started noticing uneven tire wear and requested that the tires be rotated and for the service department to check the front end for proper alignment. On the following maintenance service the dealer said that the warranty had expired for front end alignments and there was nothing they could do unless I paid for it. Now at about 35,000 miles I'm noticing exposed plys on the inner part of the rear tires and am concerned to drive it. This model definitely has a problem(s) causing premature tire wear which I fear may cause blowouts at high speeds thus causing serious injury or death. I understand that Land Rover issued a technical service bulletin la 204-005 in the us in October 2006, which covers vins from 5a000360 to 6a403382 that states that uneven tire wear may be caused by a degree of "bush settle" that affects the geometry of the tires increasing tire wear. The law firm of kabob in California has filed a class action suit and the case is now pending in the superior court of santa clara county.

18 Suspension problem of the 2005 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 05/14/2007

Tires on the Lr3 2005 Land Rover had excessive wear & tear , I. E. Premature and uneven tire wear that could potentially lead to failure, accident, injury, fire, property damage, crash as a result of tire failure. Ar has been maintained per warranty. Em tires were pretty much no good after 13,555 miles on the car on a personal level. Service bulletin swa06-10 revision 2, was out there for this alignment issue back in October 23, 2006 timeline that was causing the tires to wear out excessively. Subject title: Lr3 and range rover sport premature/uneven tire wear guidance manufacturerwas simply not taking any proactive steps to correct the situation. If this issue was discovered in 2006 or earlier why wasn't the manufacturer taking immediate actions on the issue ? where was the accountability from managment from Land Rover ? riskwas simply not acceptable to the passengers in the car.

19 Suspension problem of the 2006 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 08/15/2006

My wife owns a 2006 Land Rover Lr3. The vehicle is less than 1 year old, and the rear tires are bald. They have approximately 16,000 miles of use. This is clearly a problem with either the car or the tires, and the dealership acknowledged that it was a problem with the alignment of the vehicle. I am concerned because my vehicle was in for a regular service a month ago, and Land Rover neither mentioned the problem nor took any action to correct the defect. Now that the tires are gone, Land Rover is fixing the problem and replacing the tires. My concern comes from the fact that the tires were worn enough to expose the material under the tread. The wear takes place on the insides of the rear tires, and so is not visible to a casual glance. If we had not noticed the damage when we did, I feel fairly certain that a blowout would have occurred. This is the kind of thing that needs to be prevented and can be prevented if the manufacturer is proactive.

20 Suspension problem of the 2005 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 06/03/2006

All four tires had to be replaced because of excessive wearing and cupping on the inside of the tires. All four tires were worn to the wear bars, with less than 16,000 miles on the vehicle. If this was not personally noticed, a failure of a tire could have lead to a roll over of the vehicle. The tires were replaced by the dealer with myself paying for them, and to pay for a wheel alignment. The wheels are always in a negative camber, by design, which causes the tires to wear on the inside. I have heard of others having this problem, while in for service I looked at other vehicles in for service, and they all had tire wear on the inside. Please investigate this before some soccer mom rolls over and children are injured.

21 Suspension problem of the 2005 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 11/16/2005

The contact owns a 2005 Land Rover Lr3. The contact stated that air compressors that raised the vehicle up and down were defective. The air suspension light illuminated which indicated a problem with the suspension. The compressors were first replaced in 2005. The contact noticed that the air compressors related to the air suspension failed again October 2010. The contact scheduled an appointment with the dealer for mid October 2010. The vehicle had not been repaired again. The manufacturer had not been notified. The VIN was unavailable. The current mileage was approximately 80,000. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000. Updated 2/28/11 updated 04/25/11.

22 Suspension problem of the 2005 Land Rover LR3

Failure Date: 09/14/2005

1). Disconnected plug to generator which resulted in electric failure in navigation system and stereo - fixed. 2). Vehicle continues to veer to the right while driving, however after each complaint and servicing to Land Rover we are told there is no alignment problem when they drive the car. 3). Repeat of the same problem, approximately three weeks later - dealer stated there was a recall on the stereo/navigation system, which is what initially caused the problem - fixed 3). 9-14-2005 vehicle stalled while driving downhill in heavy traffic in a canyon, leaving me with no brakes or power steering, almost veering off the mountain. Started engine again and it stalled again only 30 feet further - called Land Rover and was informed there is a recall that is supposed to start October 14 - it is a fuel ignition problem - very dangerous - and needs a new fuel tank. Recall # 05v37600.
