1 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 02/03/2026

The metal gas tank shroud (cover) on the bottom of the car is completed rotted away and there is no longer anything protecting the gas tank from rupture. This was brought to my attention by an automotive service center as well as my own visual inspection. My understanding this shroud not only protects the tank but also helps support it to the car.

2 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 01/26/2026

Driving down the road and the vehicle lost all fuel pressure and engine shut off in the middle of the road. Turns out to be a catastrophic bosch cp4 failure. Thankfully I was not on the highway otherwise this likely would've caused an accident because besides steering and brakes I had no way to get the car out of the road and probably wouldn't have made it to the shoulder on the 5 lane highway. My safety was put at risk by having to sit on a busy road unable to move the car hoping no one came up and hit me. The issue has been confirmed by my independent service center. The component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance or anyone else besides my mechanic. The battery light and check engine light came on approximately 2 seconds before the car died in the road. Other than than that no symptoms.

5 Other Fuel System problem of the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 11/26/2025

While driving on the highway, a strong burning smell began inside the vehicle, similar to a brush or forest fire. At first it was unclear whether the smell was coming from outside, but when traffic slowed, smoke was seen coming from the driver-side wheel well and from under the front hood. No warning lights, alerts, temperature warnings, or malfunction messages appeared before or during the smoke. The vehicle was moved off the highway to a side road. Upon opening the hood, light but steady smoke continued from the engine area. The coolant reservoir was full and there were no visible leaks. The vehicle continued to smoke consistently for approximately 50 minutes while waiting for a tow truck. After the vehicle was loaded onto the flatbed and transported back toward the highway, an orange glow became visible inside the cabin, indicating an active fire had started inside the interior. The tow truck driver immediately pulled over, used a fire extinguisher, and unloaded the vehicle from the flatbed for safety. Smoke increased significantly from the cabin and wheels. Both white and black smoke were present. Police and fire department personnel responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. The vehicle was a nearly new plug-in hybrid with low mileage, and there were no dashboard warnings or prior symptoms of failure. The cause of the fire is unknown, but it appears related to a malfunction involving the electrical, battery, thermal-management, or propulsion systems. The event presented a significant safety hazard to occupants, the tow operator, and other motorists.

6 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 11/25/2025

I am filing this complaint regarding my 2020 Range Rover full size plug-in hybrid, which has been inoperable for over three months due to ongoing fault codes and software-related issues. The vehicle has been at an authorized Land Rover dealer for an extended period. The dealer has confirmed they are unable to proceed without direction or software updates from Jaguar Land Rover corporate engineering. For the last 60+ days, the issue has been repeatedly escalated between the dealer and corporate engineering with no actionable resolution, no repair authorization, and no clear timeline provided. I have even reached out customer relationship center file customer compliant which has not been responded to by lrna/hq. My case number is case:[xxx] vehicle background: •vehicle would not charge beyond 80%. I scheduled an appointment with the local dealers to inspect. Identified a coolant issue within the high voltage system. Orepair: we were able to get covered by lr per a service bulletin; however, the repair process took over a month. •November subsequent issue: check engine light appeared along with a “rotten egg” smell after charging. I returned the vehicle to the dealership. Orepair: lr identified power distribution box resistor out of target range with resistance causing over-charging. This took a month and believe a software issue may have caused this as well as cannot happen on non-plug in. Oreplacement of both the power distribution box and battery cost $1,471. •December: picked up the car and parked it for a week while out of town. The first week back I drove to work and the check engine light came on again. I have not yet received the vehicle back and it continues to throw powertrain codes. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

7 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 11/11/2025

Dealership reported at last service that the metal guard plate protecting the fuel tank is rusting and poses a safety hazard. This is a known defect with this model/vehicle.

8 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 11/03/2025

Upon having my tires balanced and aligned I was informed that my fuel tank is rusting out. I have included pictues below for reference, I have attempted to have the dealer and Land Rover replace the fuel tank but they refuse to do so even though there is a 6-year corrosive warranty in place.

9 Other Fuel System problem of the 2024 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 09/11/2025

Subject: urgent: global safety defect report – Jaguar Land Rover (jlr) powertrain control module (pcm) and fuel pump driver module (fpdm) failure. Description of defect: I am writing to formally report a critical safety defect affecting Jaguar Land Rover (jlr) vehicles involving the powertrain control module (pcm) and the fuel pump driver module (fpdm). These modules are experiencing spontaneous "reset" or "reboot" events during vehicle operation, leading to a sudden and total loss of propulsion. Safety hazard: affected vehicles are experiencing power loss at highway speeds, often resulting in the vehicle stopping abruptly in live lanes of traffic. This defect has directly led to near-misses and reported accidents. The loss of power frequently occurs without warning, rendering the vehicle a "sitting duck" on high-speed roads, creating an extreme risk of rear-end collisions and multi-vehicle pileups. Manufacturer inaction: despite internal technical bulletins (e. G. , NHTSA TSB mc-10218879-0001) and mounting consumer complaints, jlr has failed to issue a global safety recall or provide a permanent hardware/software resolution. While the chinese state administration for market regulation (samr) has reportedly summoned jlr officials regarding these stalling issues, the manufacturer has yet to implement a verified fix or acknowledge the systemic nature of the failure. Demand for action: we request that your agency launch an immediate investigation into the frequency and severity of these stalling events to compel Jaguar Land Rover to initiate a safety recall and protect the motoring public.

10 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 07/04/2025

This era of Land Rover products used an inferior metal for the fuel tank shield where they corrode prematurely. The shield has almost completely disintegrated where it no longer will support the fuel tank. If the fuel tank falls, it will come in direct contact with the driveshaft and destroy the tank leading to a massive fuel leak and subsequent fire. My tank is currently held up with ratchet straps to avoid this happening. With the exception of the fuel tank shield, every other undercarriage component is rust/corrosion free.

11 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 05/23/2025

My Land Rover is experiencing rusted fuel tank shields. The reason this problem occurs is because of a process called galvanic corrosion. The fuel tank shield is bolted onto an aluminum heat shield, and the pairing of these two different metals accelerates the corrosion. Land rover has acknowledged this problem.

12 Other Fuel System problem of the 2024 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 03/30/2025

Subject: urgent: investigation request – systemic loss of propulsion in Jaguar Land Rover (jlr) vehicles (2017–2026). 1. Description of defect I am formally reporting a critical, life-threatening safety defect involving the powertrain control module (pcm) and the fuel pump driver module (fpdm) in Jaguar Land Rover (jlr) vehicles. These modules suffer from spontaneous software "resets" or "reboot" loops during operation. When the pcm resets, it severs communication with the fuel system, causing an immediate and total loss of propulsion (motive power). 2. Safety hazard and real-world impact this defect triggers without warning at highway speeds, resulting in vehicles stopping abruptly in high-speed lanes. This creates a "sitting duck" scenario, rendering the vehicle unable to move to a shoulder and significantly increasing the risk of catastrophic rear-end collisions and multi-vehicle pileups. Reported incidents include near-misses and accidents directly attributed to this sudden stalling. 3. Timeline of manufacturer awareness (2017 – present) jlr has been aware of this specific pcm/fpdm communication failure since at least 2017. Internal documentation, such as NHTSA technical bulletin sb-10095121-1020, identified short circuits in the pcm/fpdm line for 2017 f-pace and xe models. Subsequent bulletins, including mc-10218879-0001, admit that software "flashing" is ineffective and that fpdm hardware replacement is often required. Despite nearly a decade of internal knowledge, jlr has failed to initiate a comprehensive global safety recall for all affected vins, opting instead for localized "service actions" that do not permanently resolve the hardware instability. 4. International context and manufacturer inaction the chinese state administration for market regulation (samr) has already summoned jlr officials regarding these stalling failures. However, jlr has not provided a verified, permanent solution. 5. Demand for action we demand an immediate, multi-agency.

14 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 10/11/2023

Vehicle indicator states no more starts in 249 miles due to quality of diesel exhaust fluid. Car has been to dealership 3times and continues light/indicator comes on. Only owner of car and always new highest quality blue def used for vehicle. Car stopped while I was on a trip and would not restart while I was in a remote area. Dangerous situation stuck in middle of nowhere as female alone. Reviewing literature/blogs related to this issue and unbelievable amount of consumers with same issue. Thousands of dollars spent by reports and no resolution. This is not an issue of a part wearing and not working. It is obviously more involved as faulty equipment. One of the mechanics even advised me to sell the car because it is not “fixable”. We paid over $120,000 for this vehicle to have an issue that locks our car down and is not fixable. We have contacted Range Rover direct more than 3 times with no success. I asked about recalls because so many people are having this issue and they told me I had to report my concern to you. Any assistance with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

15 Other Fuel System problem of the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 04/10/2023

We purchased the vehicle new January 2023 and we drove for a couple of months without any issue, suddenly after filling the gas tank on Monday 4/10/2023 we noticed that the gas gauge dropped significantly after about an hour of drive time, later that evening the garage began smelling like gas through out the night without any leaks. The next day taking kids to school the smell was very bad in the car that we were all light headed during the 30 minutes drive time and had to pull over to inspect the vehicle for fuel leaks and could not observe any leaks. We rolled the windows down in cold weather and proceeded with the drive. We took it to landrover denver in littleton colorado on 04/13/23, since then they have been struggling as well to find why it is smelling as bad as it is and they contacted landrover USA without any luck, I contacted landrover USA multiple times and they claim they aren’t aware of any of such issues with their vehicles and couldn’t be of help. I emphasized the safety concerns especially with all of our health, they insisted that they are not aware of any of such issues with the vehicles.

20 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 03/17/2017

I am writing to alert you to a serious potential safety design problem that caused a slow leak in the fuel line system with my 2008 Range Rover hse and to ask for your help for further potential fire hazard investigation. The aluminum metal design of the fuel rail developed a seal leak in the damper that caused a slow fuel leak that I only noticed recently as I was watching my wife back the vehicle down the driveway. I walked over, touched the liquid and smelled it to verify in fact that it was a fuel leak. It was clear that the leak had been there for quite a while but went undetected due to lack of fuel vapor entering the interior of the car or detection by any of the vehicles safety/warning systems. Apparently, the vehicle was not designed to detect or alert for small but steady fuel system leaks. I took the vehicle to a Land Rover dealership where it was diagnosed with a fuel rail damper seal failure. Vehicle was repaired but what's more troubling is that they replaced the part in kind with no design improvement.

21 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 07/08/2015

The catalytic converter on my car has a known defect which was covered under Land Rover extended warrant program q058. On my specific car, the warranty period expired on may 11, 2015. An independent mechanic diagnosed a bad catalytic converter on my car in Feb 04, 2014 and told me about the extended warrant program covering this known issue. I made several attempts to schedule an appointment with Land Rover manhattan dealership but wasn't successful in getting an appointment until after the warranty expired. Land rover is refusing to cover the repair and I have been tossed back and forth between the Land Rover dealer and corporate office. I think Land Rover waited until after the warranty expired so they can avoid paying for the repair.
