Land Rover Range Rover owners have reported 6 problems related to software (under the electrical system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
My door locks are failing and Land Rover / Range Rover is telling me it has nothing to do with your prior investigation, recall or other. First, I couldn't get my passenger door to lock, then it suddenly started working again. Now, I can't get my driver side to lock, and my passenger is fine. Land rover claims they already updated my "software" but I think it's something much more detailed than that, as there are literally 1000's of people asking on the internet about the exact same problem. Not sure if this will result in my doors flying open suddenly, as has been documented in prior cases with NHTSA for my year Range Rover - but I truly feel as if they know about a problem with their door actuators, software and locks but are unwilling to fix them in their dealership under recall or warranty. Several dealers have noted for my VIN, they've developed new actuators because of flaws in previous versions and want me to spend upwards of $2k to have replacements.

I have the 2014 Range Rover with the v6 supercharged gas engine. During a rolling start, such as rolling start to perform a u-turn or merging into a highway, the acceleration is delayed by at least 2 seconds, which is very dangerous. Especially during merging on to the freeway the 2 seconds acceleration lag could send false information to the other cars and made me almost crash for a few times. It should be a transmission or engine management software update to address this issue.
After only five days of ownership, major components of the electrical system failed, particularly the displays on all of the driver information systems, including assistive services such as lane detection. The service center first stated that the problem eas serious and related to faulty wiring from the factory. They now contend that there is faulty software causing the system to fail.

While driving home yesterday my driver door flew open while going down hwy 167 south. ( I know the door was shut! it was locked when I got in the car) while driving the rest of the way home holding the driver door shut ! because it wouldn't close!( not even the soft shut door close) I got home and research for recalls or safety issues. . . There is a recall but, says it was done a year ago! but, apparently the recall part or software didn't work! I almost fell out of the SUV yesterday while driving!.
My car has been in 4 times with the same issue, the vehicle will randomly shut itself off, I. E. The car shuts off, the transmission moves to park. It is not ecostart or from my unbuckling the seatbelt. This happens when I am turning into parking spaces and immediately after the vehicle stops, occurrence is 20+ times now. The fault will not save in the computer and Land Rovers engineers have admitted its probably a software glitch but cannot fix if it doesn't show in computer. I have attempted buyback process with Land Rover with them admitting my car has "inherent defects" they will not buy the vehicle back, are unable to fix this and other issues with the vehicle. Land rover claims the issue does not affect driveability.
