Lexus ES350 owners have reported 8 problems related to carrier/rack (under the equipment category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Thin windshield. Windshield must be extremely thin. I bought a certified Lexus oct 2016. Windshield cracked starting from left black border around windshield. Safelite replaced it. 6 days later, driving down the highway and it cracked in the same place starting from the black border. No rocks hit it. I have been driving 35 years and never replaced a windshield. Now 2 in 6 days. Something isn't right Lexus.

Lexus ES 350 2007 dashboard is melting and compromised. Due to the sticky mess the airbags will not deploy properly and death will likely occur. Very concerned about the toxicity of the dashboard as well. It's melting, changing color from black to white and cracking. This carcinogenic material is now poisoning all who ride in the vehicle. Included photo does not convey the glossy melting ,sticky reality of it all. The glossy melting reflection causes lots of glare and impairs visibility on sunny days. This issue must be resolved before a life is taken needlessly. Lexus refuses to replace the dashboard even though they admit that its a compromised part and have deceptively allocated this safety issue as a warranty problem that has expired. Because my vehicle is seldom driven and garaged (69,717k miles) problem did not surface until now.

I have own two Lexus's a 2014 and 2016 and it appeared that the windshields are extremely thin because I have had rocks crack them on the interstate, on both of the different cars. I am certain that others have had this troubles as well. I was traveling on a major highway.
After starting engine we began to hear crackling noises similar to electrical sounds. This persisted for about 30 minutes. We visited our dealer and were told that it is normal. We do not believe this. The crackling noises would only be evident for a short time after this. Now we are hearing these noises louder and more often throughout the day. We have no idea whether we have a safety issue or not, however we feel unsafe. We notified Lexus and are waiting for a response.

I was driving and pulled up next to another car as I pulled off the highway, when the driver motioned to me for directions I immediately tried to rolled the window down to speak to rge person. The passenger side window makes a popping sound and sounds like it jumps out of the track. This prevent opening and closing the window. I just purchased the car from jm Lexus and now told. Have to pay over $800 to repair it. I had a bad experience with the salesman when we made the purchase which made me swear off purchasing another vehicle through them or even recommendibg them. This is my third purchase through them I should have listened to my instinct. . I parked my car in parking garage or on the street. When I return I noticed the interior dash melts and peels when the temperature raises.
Dashboard is very sticky and shiny. A voluntary warranty service recall was issued. The condition produces a glare on the windshield which is very dangerous. Warranty extension reimbursement offer expired in may 2017. My car has been garaged for 2 1/2 years. Received service note and just set it aside as car was garaged. Recently relicensed vehicle and immediately on first bright day was reminded of the issue. Lexus says offer expired, period. I can certainly pay for the replacement ($1500). I contend this is an ongoing safety issue and should have been a recall. I contend Lexus/Toyota avoided a safety recall by preemptively issuing a service/warranty notice. How many Es350's are out there with dangerous glare on the windshield? this is not a cosmetic issue. It's a safety issue. Number pol14-03 replacement bulletin number: 12-17 NHTSA item number 10091863 date 2015-12-17 component structure date added 2017-02-15 summary wpb: background: Lexus has received reports where some vehicles may exhibit cracked and/ or sticky/ melting dashboards as a result of heat or humidity. In April of 2013, I noticed that the dashboard of our Lexus had small tears or cracks on it. It looked like someone had stuck their fingernails into the dashboard. I thought it was odd since neither my husband nor myself had done such a thing. Over the next several months, as the weather became hotter in florida, our dashboard (for lack of a better word) began to melt. It became very sticky and began to cause visual problems on the windshield due to the reflection/glare from the melting dash. My husband called Lexus in July 2013 to explain the issue and the safety hazard it was creating. He asked for the dashboard to be replaced, citing there had to be a defect. We had never experienced this issue with any other car we have owned and we have owned 9 cars over the years, all in florida's hot sun. For a couple of months we got the run around from Lexus. The final decision was that Lexus would replace our dash at a reduced cost because our car was out of warranty and our issue was an isolated problem that they had never seen before. It was their opinion that we had done something to our dash to cause this. We of course knew we did not! we refused to pay for a new dash, so we have dealt with the inconvenience for almost a year. Recently, I saw a segment on our local news about other cars having this same issue. The news organization urged consumers to follow the link to your website and issue a complaint, so this issue can be recalled and fixed. Please issue a recall for all vehicle make and models that have this issue. It is a safety issue because the reflection blocks my field of vision when I drive the car on a bright sunny day. I have pictures that were sent to Lexus with our original complaint. They not only show the stickiness but the viability issue. Please contact me if you need to see them.
Driver's front window made a clunk noise when going down and the window popped out and was off track. Dealer replaced under warranty. Twenty-two months later, same window made a clicking noise going up and down and at that time, dealer removed door panel and found loose bolt which they tightened. Jan. 4, 2013, the right front window made a similar clunking noise and popped out of its track. Window had to be replaced. Dealer covered labor, but not parts, which amounted to $500 including tinting. Fortunately these incidents occured when the car was not in motion.
