4 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 09/06/2021

I always use cruise control whenever I drive because this would always makes me put on a safety automatic brake whenever I get close to the car next to me. But it seems like my automatic emergency brake is defective which Lexus dealership denies on the inspection when I complain. A lot of times the automatic emergency brake does not work when I use it even when im backing up it suppose to stop but a lot of times im almost at thr brink of hitting something so I have to manually brake. I also texted this to my Lexus assistant manager in Lexus glendale California branch and had it inspected by them but they’ve sit my car in the dealership and at the end of the day told me that its normal. Is it normal to hit a car next to you when youre expecting your car to stop automatically and it does not stop? why do I have this feature and it doesnt work? I hope you can help me becaus ethis car is very expensive and yet it does not guarantee safety!.

5 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 02/05/2021

Sudden unintended acceleration with braking problems. Three episodes. The first episode was a complaint to the dealer with documentation in the car's service record. The second of which was worked-up for one week by the dealer with no answers. The third episode occurred going down a parking ramp and resulted in loss of control of the car and injuries to both fenders. The car's "black box" was not activated during the last episode. The car accelerated right after it had begun moving forward. During the other episodes, the acceleration occurred right after being started. During the third and most serious episode, the car was moving down the car ramp in a parking garage, from the eighth floor to the sixth floor. After starting down the ramp, the car accelerated and could not be stopped by braking, shifting to neutral and park or by pressing the off button switch. When the sixth floor was reached, the car was driven down one of the exit lanes where finally it was able to be stopped by usual braking maneuvers. In the "black box" study, there was no record of any abnormal activity, either acceleration or braking. Police were notified and essentially documented the events but made no other comments. During the third episode, the car was moving at a rapid rate of speed, probably at about 50 miles per hour but this cannot be documented. Repair of the vehicle cost about $6000.

6 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 02/18/2020

I was at a stoplight and there were a couple vehicles in front of me. The light was red. I was a car length and a half away from the vehicle directly in front of me. As soon as the light turned green, I saw the vehicles in front of the vehicle directly in front of me proceed to move forward, and the driver in front of me took his foot off of his brakes, so I thought he was moving forward as well. So then I decided to accelerate to about 5-10 mph. By the time I realized the vehicle in front of me wasn't moving forward, my car hit his trail-hitch" (not his back bumper) and the front of my car was damaged, but I could drive it from the scene of the accident. The brake assist of my 2018 Lexus Es350 did not engage. I think the brake assist function on my vehicle was faulty and it should've been recalled and fixed, as it would've stopped me from getting into a car accident in the first place had it engaged and worked properly.

11 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 06/09/2017

Monday, June 5th,I bought the Lexus Es350 at 6502 5th Ave in brooklyn. It hasn't been a week yet, and on Friday the 9th, the accident happened. I was driving from staten island to flushing to pick up my friend to go back to my home. Along the 495 highway, we were driving around 45-50 mph and suddenly a warning popped up on the abs system saying that the "breaker is on. " we became really nervous so we wanted to check out why that message came on. There was a car about 100 meters in front of us, so I stepped on the breaks, but I was not able to step down on it. The brake is completely locked and had no way to slow it down and within two seconds we hit the car in front, and our car was totaled. Fortunately, nobody had to go to the hospital. After we got home I felt dizzy and ears were ringing. Fortunately, I felt better after a couple days. We also tried contacting different lawyers, but none of them would take our case because there were no reports of me being injured or any other doctor reports. This is ridiculous because it's basically saying that only if someone got hurt and was brought to the hospital would there be a serious case. Is this really how America handles serious car accidents? we hope that Lexus can be fair and have someone inspect the black box to see if it was the car itself that had an issue. We also wish that they will give us a sincere apology, respect, and just a fair answer to this problem.

13 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 11/05/2016

Three major issues with this car, and lots of minor ones. 1. The brakes did not engage while slowing down in traffic. Hitting the brakes caused the car to lurch forward. 2. The electrical system seemed to turn off and all internal/external lights went off at night and I was unable to see the road. 3. The car slips and the systems to counteract slipping did not engage. There are issues with the navigation, the enform system and many other issues. Repeated attempts to resolve the problem with Lexus have met with no success. Regards, brian povlsen.

15 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 02/28/2016

I was pulling into my garage slowly, braking to stop, when the can accelerated. I could hear the engine rev and I pressed hard on the brake and put the car in park. The car traveled about 4 feet before it came to a stop. I reported to Lexus who turned over to 'legal' and I have been waiting for a week for an investigator to contact me to look at the car, after which they say it will be another 30 days for a finding. The paperwork I filled out termed this as 'unintended acceleration". This is the second time this has happened with this car, which I purchased new and have had for a little over a year.

Failure Date: 03/28/2015

While entering my garage, my car suddenly accelerated and smashed into the rear wall destroying a cabinet and refridgerator and went through the wall. I couldn't stop the car as evidenced by brake skid marks on the garage floor. Lexus later inspected the car and claimed they could find no defect. Fortunately my wife and I were only shaken up from the deployment of the airbags. The car was totaled. My home and auto insurance covered part of the damage and Lexus has disavowed any responsibility, but they never inspected the damage to our home or the evidence that I was trying to stop the car almost from the instant it entered the garage. I can provide pictures by email, but I can't seem to retrieve them for this document. T.

27 Service Brakes problem of the 2009 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 03/12/2010

I own a Lexus ES 350, 2009 and received a recall notice for the ?mat? problem. I needed other maintenance done and brought it over to the Lexus dealer. My service manager said to be on the safe side he would have the recall work on the accelerator/brake situation fixed. I thanked him. It turned out that two days later I did receive the second letter so I was glad it was fixed. About two weeks later on March 12, 2010 the car was started by me and put in reverse. The emergency break engaged by itself. The break was tapped and the break disengaged. This happened once in the morning. The car was then fine until that same evening when my husband was backing the car out of a friend?s driveway onto a busy street. Again the emergency break self engaged. And there was oncoming traffic. It was an unpleasant situation. My husband and I when we park have not used emergency brakes for about 10 years. We know it was not on either time. We also know we did not step on it as we started the car and backed out. Though nothing came of this, it did pose a potential accident.

28 Service Brakes problem of the 2008 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 02/16/2010

Vehicle: 2008 Lexus 350 sedan. Failure: brakes do not work when there is snow on the ground. Abs braking system pumps but the car does not slow down. I suspect that snow gets into the brakes and prevents them from gripping the wheels. The car is not skidding; it just doesn't slow down. Once the condition starts, it doesn't matter whether there is any snow on the road. Even when the road is clear of snow, the brakes just pump and do not slow or stop the car in a reasonable distance. This condition is true regardless of the speed of the car when the brakes are applied -- any where from 2 mph to 40 mph. The car is leased from Toyota motor credit corp. They will not terminate the lease early. I have spoken to the dealer where I leased the car; they told me that I should go to the dealer who currently services the car. (we moved from NJ where I leased the car to mass and now use a dealer in latham, NY). The new dealer now says that the problem is that the tires are worn and that is why the abs system doesn't work in the snow. There are 22,000 miles on the tires and over 5/32 inch of tread. The car was just serviced (on January 25, 2010) by the Lexus dealer in latham, who, at that time, did not say that there was any problem with the tires, and I firmly believe that there is no such problem. The dealer says that it will tow the car to the dealership for evaluation but will not give me a loaner. My wife and I are retirees and cannot be without a car as we live in the country and must get to doctors, market, etc. By car. Please help me terminate the lease.

29 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 02/10/2010

Power brakes on my Lexus Es350 . When stopped the power brake pedal will go all the way to the floor board when continuous pressure is applied to the brake pedal . Due to the fact the electronics attached to the brake system require continuous pumping of the brakes to maintain a firm feeling when moving and stopped . Also when the motor is off the brake pedal does not work but the emergency brake does the Lexus mechanic told me this was normal not to worry . I took the car to a very competent auto mechanic and he suggested I report this to the NHTSA . I live in santee where the police officer and his family died driving a vehicle similar to mine . I find myself driving my truck more often now.

30 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 02/04/2010

I bought a Lexus ES 350 2007 model (manufactured by Toyota) in November 2006 and from the very beginning I have been complaining to the dealerships about how the abs brakes are very slow to respond to application and how they don't engage as hard as they should. On multiple occasions the dealership tested these and reported back that they are in conformity with "Toyota standards" for ES 350 even though the other Lexus models like RX or is have much more responsive brakes (I know this because the dealership gives us loaner cars during servicing). The dealer also confirmed that it was only the ES 350 model brakes that were so unresponsive. This time, when I was given a 2010 ES 350 loaner, I felt that the brakes on that were much much better and when I inquired from the dealer he told me that because of the multiple complaints that Toyota had received on the ES 350 2007-2009 models, they have changed the brakes on the ES 2010 model to make them more responsive. When I inquired about repairing or replacing the brakes on 2007-2009 models to make the similar to the new 2010 model brakes, he said that Toyota was not doing that, again because they still are appropriate by "Toyota standards". On many occasions when I have had to apply brakes in an emergency, I have felt very unsafe and wanted better brakes but was reconciled due to the promise of the "Toyota standard". But given the problems now found in the abs brakes of prius and other car models, I request you to please ask Toyota to make the 2007-2009 model ES car brakes compliant with the new brakes they put in the 2010 onwards ES models to avoid accidents due to unresponsive brakes.

32 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 01/31/2010

1. As I approached a red light, I wanted to move my foot from the gas pedal to the brake. The top of my sneaker got caught in the underside of the brake preventing me from being able to stop the car. I was able to free my foot by pulling it sideways and back to the gas pedal causing me to momentarily hit the gas pedal and moving the car forward toward the intersection. Since I had begun to slow down for the traffic light and there was no car in front of me, no accident took place. 2. Jan 31-a few days later the same thing happened. I called Lexus of aventura 3. Feb 2 they came & picked up the car. I told them to put in writing what they found and what they did to correct it. Their representative told me that when he test drove the car his foot got stuck in the same way as mine & that it happened to 3 other vehicles tested. Further, he offered to compensate me for my inconvenience by a) filling our tank up with gas, b) giving us 10,000 miles service @ no charge as well as an interior cleaning and detailing. In our phone conversations during the next few days, he increased his offers and told me that the floor mat had been replaced in my car. I asked that all repairs & offers be put in writing. Feb 5 I contacted Lexus of America & on Feb 8 a representative of Lexus southern contacted me. We have been exchanging phone calls & letters since then.
