I have been facing transmission issues that require the vehicle to shift up to move even at low speeds, with the transmission shifting either hard or smoothly, and often unnecessarily to a higher gear. This issue is rare but occurs frequently. I think this is a factory defect because I have been seeing lots of youtube videos where they mention that the transition in these cars feels jerky, sluggish, etc.
Car parked in driveway; started engine, shifted into gear, and before I even accelerated, the engine roared and the car lunged forward. Lexus traveled approximmately 50 feet and crashed into the neighbor's concrete wall across the street. I was injured (broken ribs, etc. ) and the car was totaled. When reporting accident to insurance company (usaa) I asked representative to have car inspected due to accident circumstances. I do not know if they did an inspection as I was in hospital and at home recuperating. No prior issue of this type.
On July 29th at approximately 8:30pm, I got into my car after exiting the meijer store and noticed the car making strange noises and was hard to get in gear. I park so I don’t have to back up, so I put the car in drive and it went fast in reverse, when it went forward, it went crazy and I ran into a tree island and busted 2 tires and finally stopped. Fortunately this happened in a mostly vacant parking lot. This car has a lot of horsepower and those horses went crazy. I answered a question on how fast I was going? I answered 50mph, I went from 0 to 50 in a parking lot with my foot on the brake!.
The contact owns a 2008 Lexus Gs450 hybrid. The contact stated that after his vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle, the check engine light was illuminated and the vehicle was not able to start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the failure was not related to the collision but that the hybrid transmission cooling pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
Transmission needs to be replaced. Not shifting out of third and jerking.
Transmission problem shifting from 1 to 3 and don't shift up more than that ,mechanic asked to change the transmission cause its major problem for this car . Too many people complaining about that .
Acceleration pedal problem. Car fails to respond to acceleration pedal sometimes while in motion. Car can stop moving in traffic or during turns (especially left turns). This is very dangerous and life threatening. Although pedal sensor was changed given the error code, the car still show the same issue. Lexus must take responsibility for dangerous design as it lacks a fail safe mechanism to their drive by wire. Failure in acceleration is as dangerous as failure in braking.
