1 Wiper problem of the 2007 Lexus GS

Failure Date: 04/06/2024

The anti-reflective coating on the rear view mirror on the inside of the car is coming through the mirror causing black spots that obscure vision out the back of the car. This issue affects all 2006-2011 Lexus Gs models. All oem replacements online have this happen to some degree. I bought this car a couple months ago, this was an issue from the day I bought it and most likely started many years prior in my specific model.

2 Wiper problem of the 2013 Lexus GS

Failure Date: 03/30/2022

2013 Lexus Gs 350 stuck wiper blades; danger level extremely high - may affect 2013-2015 and 2016-2020 Gs models when using the wipes in either automatic mode or manual speed selection they can become stuck in the rain in the up position blocking the windshield's view. This is extremely dangerous. Deemed a major flaw, the wiper blades can get stuck in any position while wiping. This occurs when the wiper blades are used and it is raining. This is very hard to replicate with windshield wiper fluid. To remedy the malfunction to survive in a life or death moment of limited visibility, the driver must quickly push the wiper lever activator up and down to reset it and or pushing in the automatic rain sensing function button. Also, when stopped at a stoplight and resuming acceleration, the rain sensor does not pick up rain at low, medium, or heavy rain and does not engage the wipers. Again, the user must re-engage the wiper system by turning it on and off again multiple times while driving over and over again, multiple times during a trip. The car should not be driven on highways at high speed during when raining or above 20 mph.

3 Wiper problem of the 2013 Lexus GS

Failure Date: 10/04/2020

Windshield wipers get stuck in the up position and do not work. Malfunctioning wipers, no error code with no fix. Very dangerous under extreme weather condtions where wipers are needed. Not what is expected from a Toyota product. I demand this be fixed as I've had much older cars with no issues of wipers malfunction. I could crash, die or injury someone because of this failure. The car has only 41,900 miles on it and the wipers are barely used. This should not be happening! it is not because I did something to the wipers either. I have never gone through an automatic car wash and even if I did they should be able to sustain that. This is a Lexus, where is the perfection?.

4 Wiper problem of the 2006 Lexus GS

Failure Date: 06/04/2020

The backing on the glass of the rear-view mirror has disintegrated encumbering visibility and diminishing the mirror's purpose and function. Lexus has a fix for this problem by replacing the glass but the dealers are not making it available. Instead, the dealers are forcing us to purchase a new mirror at a cost of $1400 plus tax and the cost of installation. Mirrors are a basic component of all vehicles and proper visibility while driving is a must. I don't think it is unreasonable to believe that the mirrors should last the entire life of the vehicle, especially on a luxury vehicle. Lexus should be replacing the glass at no cost.

5 Wiper problem of the 2007 Lexus GS

Failure Date: 02/15/2020

Auto dimming glass has started to deteriate causing black streaks and impairing visibility. This is don't a surface level scratch, this is underneath the glass and a faulty product.

6 Wiper problem of the 2006 Lexus GS

Failure Date: 08/04/2019

My rearview mirror is complete deteriorated to a point that it can no longer see any object in the mirror. It has become a safety issue the replacement mirror will cost more than $1800 from Lexus it is a safety device not like radio or power window. We bought a Lexus not pinto. What a disappointment!.

7 Wiper problem of the 2006 Lexus GS

Failure Date: 04/01/2018

Inside rearview mirror has progressively developed black markings over past several years throughout the mirror obstructing my rearview vision in both daylight and after dark. Very well documented by other Lexus owners. Lexus has not and is not planning on any recalls but this is a clear safety risk and has caused several close encounters as I had my vision obstructed and nearly caused several traffic accident due to obstructed view. Have presented this concern to Lexus numerous times but without acknowledgement that this is a safety concern but the replacement mirror is $1000. I am the sole owner since purchased new in 2005, garaged home and work, extremely well maintained at Lexus dealership since new and with each service, it is discussed but without support for replacement. Clearly is manufacturer defect in production and increasing safety concern.

8 Wiper problem of the 2006 Lexus GS

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

Interior rearview mirror developed black markings throughout mirror making it almost impossible to visualize rearview traffic. The response from Lexus is that the glass itself or the materials behind the glass are breaking down resulting in the functional loss of the rearview mirror which now has become dangerous for driving. Has been progressively getting worse over past several years. Lexus is aware of this defect and occurs in a number of their older models but is not accepting responsibility for repairing or replacing mirror which costs the consumer almost $2000 for a new replacement which is financially unobtainable for many owners.

9 Wiper problem of the 2007 Lexus GS

Failure Date: 10/06/2016

Rear view mirror is being discolored with black spots.

10 Wiper problem of the 2007 Lexus GS

Failure Date: 07/04/2016

Inner rear view mirror discoloration including black streaks and spots make it impossible to safely observe behind vehicle. Lexus has an internal "secret" safety tsib l-sb-0043-16 but refuses to acknowledge it or perform a repair, claiming it is not the subject of a official recall. This is a known issue for many Lexus owners and is widespread across numerous Lexus models over the years of 2006 through 2009 and includes Gs300, Gs350, Gs430, Gs450h and Gs460. I called the "Lexus guest experience center" at their 800 number and they were evasive and combative with absolutely one goal in mind: no safety issue will be covered without being forced into coverage through a recall even though the service bulletin clearly covers the VIN of my 2007 Gs350 and clearly identifies the defective mirror. Searches across the internet show many complaints by owners of Lexus refusing to fix this defective mirror. Https://repairpal. 13 Wiper problem of the 2006 Lexus GS

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

The rearview mirror on our vehicle started to show strange scratches on it which have started to spread over time. It has been almost a year now and you can barely see out of it because of the strange scratches. Went to Lexus and they stated it is over $1,800 dollars to repair it even though it is simply a defect part. Had full warranty but they would not replace it because it is a mirror defect.

14 Wiper problem of the 2006 Lexus GS

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

Over several years the rearview mirror has become discolored with rust colored spots and streaks which make impairs visibility. This was discussed with the dealer multiple times and most recently corporate; while they acknowledge the issue they refuse to issue a recall or replace the part. It is a safety issue and the problem is well documented among owners of Gs and is vehicles.

15 Wiper problem of the 2006 Lexus GS

Failure Date: 12/31/2011

Rear view mirror reflection is degrading and causing poor visibility, therefore affecting safety and resale value of vehicle. Lexus issued a TSB 0186-09 but no recall. It is a $2000 repair. We have owned 5 Lexus vehicles, 3 purchased new, and only the 2006 Gs 300, purchased new, is exhibiting this issue. This is an issue that has been reported by others.
