Lexus GS300 owners have reported 3 problems related to brake master cylinder (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I purchased a vehicle off the streets and had no clue on how the system works when purchasing a salvaged vehicle that had been in a auction after a wreckless accident. Had a master cylinder malfunction that got fixed by not a Lexus professional mechanic due to budget reasons. Received a check for around $20. 00 for the recall on the gas pedal getting stuck around 3 yrs. Ago. No longer have posseion of my license # plate or vehicle. I think VIN # was a scam.

The contact owns a 1998 Lexus Gs300. The contact stated that while attempting to apply the brakes, the vehicle did not slow down and crashed into a wall. There were no injuries. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer who stated that the master cylinder failed. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The current and failure mileages were approximately 111,000.
In late 2000 my fiance` and I purchased a brand new Lexus from david mcdermott Lexus in east haven CT. The car ran flawlessly for several years with no major issues. Over the last year or so the dash lights come on and the car makes a loud beeping sound. I brought the car back to the dealer who then informed me that the car has a defective brake master cylinder and that it would cost $2000 dollars to repair. In doing some research online I have found out that this a common problem with 98-02 Gs300 models the very same car I own. I then made a call to Lexus customer service to inquire as to why their almost $50k car has a defective brake master cylinder especially since the car only has 80,000 mile and this is not even a moving part. Lexus promised to get back to me within 2 business day to see what if anything they could do for me. I was informed on 5/13 that they respectfully decline to help me as the vehicle is out of warranty. Regardless of the fact that Lexus does not value their customer's from their lack of action I strongly believe that this defect on a large number of these car demands an investigation. My certified mechanic himself a master certified Lexus technician also informed me that if this system fails it will lead to a serious accident as the entire braking and vehicle dynamic system is combined on this one unit. At this time I am no longer driving the car for fear of endangering the lives of my family
and friends. I will park the vehicle until such time when I can afford to repair. I am not writing this complaint out of spite or malice I would just like other consumers who own this particular year and model car to be aware of the potential danger inherent in this car. I would kindly appreciate you looking into this matter for me so as to avoid any unnecessary accidents or deaths from this vehicle. Sincerely
concerned consumer.
