One problem related to engine rattling and whining sounds has been reported for the 2008 Lexus GS350. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Brief engine knock/rattle noise at cold startup per TSB its a minor problem. That is not the case. This is a camshaft gear assembly defect , safety related and Lexus is not fixing this problem when they know its there.
