While driving my 2022 Lexus Gx460, I experienced a sudden and unexpected loss of braking capability while stopped. After bringing the vehicle to a complete stop, the brake pedal pressure gradually decreased while my foot remained firmly on the brake. As pressure lessened, I applied additional force, but the brake pedal continued to travel downward until it reached the floor. At that point, the vehicle began to move forward at idle despite the brake pedal being fully depressed. I rolled towards the intersection (at a stop light). I took my foot off the brake and applied again. It stopped, and then this repeated. I then put the car in park while I waited for the light to turn green. My destination was only 1km away. When I got there, I turned off the car, and have since been unable to replicate the issue. I took it to a dealership (Lexus on the park) and they charged me for an investigation and told me the car is good to drive. I need Toyota/Lexus to be informed. Note that I am in canada but a friend advised for me to submit here. I posted my issue on a Lexus forum and a person named patrick said he had the same issue in September and was told by the dealership everything is fine. I've asked him to submit to NHTSA as well. His VIN is [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Notice brakes would not hold vehicle and begin to drift into intersection. Depress brake pedal more and it would stop then start to drift again, then placed into neutral as the brake pedal was almost to the floor. So as you were at a red light the brake pedal never moved but wasn't applying constant pressure to keep vehicle stationary then I'd have to apply more brake pedal and repeat. Ma aged to get to work safely and had it towed to rohrick Lexus and they kept it for two day having a mech take it home. They could not duplicate!.
At approximately 6,000 miles we drove this vehicle from chattanooga to nashville and back. The interstate has one steep grade. On the decent home the vehicle was violently shaking. It felt as if the car might not be able to stop or something had been broken. We had 30-45 minutes of driving to get home and considering having the vehicle towed. It continued to shake, less violently as we braked on the way home. It was terrifying. I took the car to Lexus and they told me that this can happen on steep grades. They wanted to turn the rotors and I insisted they be replaced due to being defective and causing this shaking at such low miles. They agreed. A month later, after having brand new rotors and pads, the same thing happened again. Again I immediately made an appointment and the vehicle was inspected. They told me this time there are hot spots all over these new rotors, from this one trip to nashville. They told me there was nothing else they could do. I opened a case with Lexus corporate and they just reached out. They spoke to the dealership and concluded that this happened because of normal driving conditions. They are saying this is normal! it’s not normal. I explained the many brands of vehicles we have had and driven this same interstate many times without issue. This is unsafe. People that drive in mountain areas should not need brake repair every few thousand miles. And what if someone is driving in a very mountain area like the rockies and one trip across the state could completely destroy these brakes? so scary. They need brakes to handle higher heat to protect families using this car. I am shocked this is not recalled already. I pray there is something to be done to get this fixed immediately. The uploaded file below is from the second time I brought it for the same issue. It was 5 weeks later. The incident for the second incident was just 4 weeks after the first one, but we had to wait for them to get us an appointment.

Brakes squeal when backing up in the mornings and occasionally going forward. Maunufacturer is aware of the problem, but until recently would only allow dealers to order 1 repair kit per week. Now the manufacturer is allowing 4 kits per week to be ordered. This problem appears to affect 2/3s of all vehicles sold. Repair parts are taking 4 to 6 months to get. The manufacturer is not being responsive.
The contact owns a 2016 Lexus Gx 460 . The contact stated while driving 10 mph attempting to make a right turn into his garage, the brake pedal was applied, however the vehicle failed to respond and crashed into wall in the garage. The vehicle was towed to an autobody repair facility by the insurance company where the vehicle body damages were repaired but the brake failure was not diagnosed. The contact stated that he inquired at the repair facility and was informed that there was no issue with the brakes. The contact stated that he drove home home with no issues however, the next day while leaving his driveway the brake pedal was depressed and failed to engage and the emergency brakes had to be applied in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where no failure cause could be determined and the dealer informed the contact to call Lexus customer service. The manufacturer was notified and a case was opened. The contact stated that a Lexus engineer retrieved the vehicle's edr however, they found no issues with the braking system. The failure mileage was 53,537.

I bought this 2023 Gx460 new in October 2023 from Lexus of towson in towson, MD. It currently has approximately 3100 miles on it. Since owning it I have noticed that when coming to a stop and sitting still with the vehicle in gear and the brake pedal engaged normally that the vehicle will start to move on it's own causing more pressure needing to be applied to keep the vehicle still. This initially caught me off guard several times. It is a repeatable problem. I can see that the engine rpm's are increasing by 100-300 by without throttle input which seems to trigger the need to apply more brake. I searched on forums and found other Toyota/Lexus, including Gx owners complaining about this. This is dangerous for obvious reasons.

I was traveling east bound on 161/16/37 near raccoon valley golf course in granville OH. I was near mm 104. It was approximately 8:13pm and the road conditions were clear. No other vehicles were in front of or behind me. I heard a screech, the wheel jerked out of my hand to the left, and the wipers came on. I tried to regain control and keep the vehicle on the road. The wheel kept tugging to the left and I was fighting to pull it right. At the same time, I was also pressing on the brake, but it went straight to the floor. I kept pumping on the breaks because I didn’t know if the abs was working. Then I hit the guard rail on the right side of my car and after I hit the guard rail, that time when I pressed the breaks, I was finally able to stop. I am unsure what system malfunctioned. There were no lights or warning messages. I did have the vehicle at Lexus for routine maintenance a couple weeks prior. The sheriff came to the scene and filled report 23-31830. I also called Lexus the next day and filled a request for an inspection to be completed. My insurance company is aware, but has advised I don’t file the claim until after the investigation is complete.

2010 Lexus Gx 460 driven by my wife. At approx 30 mph the brakes were applied hard to avoid a car changing lanes and the vehicle entered an immediate left skid without wheels skidding due to braking. The brake pressure was released when a it was apparent a collision would be avoided and the vehicle made a violent jerking return to straight travel. This occurred on dry pavement and easily could have led to a serious accident. No accident happened only due to my wife's driving skills. Appears the stability control did not work as advertised.
