2004 Lexus GX 400. Consumer writes in regards to replacement dashboard not available to replace curtain-shield airbag module and cracked dashboard. The consumer stated, a year passed and the air bag and dashboard were not replaced. Updated 03/22/2017.

There has been a problem for years with certain Toyota and Lexus vehicles dashboards cracking. This is not only a cosmetic issue but a safety issue (passenger side airbag) as well and even Toyota repair manuals say to replace the dash if there are any cracks yet dealers are not addressing the problem and are making owners pay thousands of dollars for a new dash when clearly there's a defect in the materials used to make the dash. I have a 2006 Lexus Gx470 that the dashboard is cracking everywhere. It's just not my Lexus that have this problem. Everyone I know that have this SUV have the same problem. Lexus is not doing anything to fix this problem. It is the manufacturer defect that needs to be fix. Everyday I see more crack shows up in different places. I believe one day this dashboard is going to come apart. It isn't very safe for anybody.
