1 Structure problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2015

2008 Lexus Is250 (VIN [xxx]). Received a recall on dashboard. Crown Lexus in ontario California approved the replacement of dashboard as well as all doors in October (?) 2015. I have been calling the dealer multiple times, but still unknown when the parts will come in. I have called Lexus directly on estimate time to ship out parts, but they never provided any answer. I am hoping to sell the car, but resale value would be affected by this not to mention the glare causes safety concern. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

3 Structure problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2014

I would like to file a complaint concerning the dash in my Lexus. The dash is melting and creating a glare onto the windshield. I have spoken with several Lexus dealers and they are aware of the problem, but the manufacture has not had a recall at this time. The cost from the Lexus dealer is around $2500. 00. After much research on the internet, this is not just a few cars with the problem.

4 Structure problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

It was 90 degrees out and my dashboard was so gooey like sticky I was on my way to work and had a glare half the size of my windshield very dangerous could barely see on a sunny day. Door panels melt also leaving particles in your fingernails gotta clean my kids nails everyday and make sure they wash there hands everytime opening the door cause kids will be kids and sticks fingers in there mouths im very nervous about these particles falling off and melting we are breathing in whatever hazardous material is used to make the dash . The glare is very dangerous they need to recall these dashboards im scared everytime I get in my car this is very dangerous sometimes you cant see people crossing the street . This needs to be recalled I got tons of pictures of the glare and the sticky dash its my whole dashboard and my door panels its all melting I took it to Lexus for major concern they denied me any help.

5 Structure problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2013

I currently own a 2008 is-250 with less than 6,000 mile on the odometer. I took my car in to the dealership for several unusual problems. The seals around the wind shield were dry rotted and had fallen out all the way around the windshield. The dash board was also sticky and had a number of cracks. The top of my windshield was also 'DE-laminated" and needed to be replaced. Lexus did step up to the plate and replaced the windshield and dash board free of charge even though my vehicle was out of warranty. However, my car has the extended factory warranty on it still to this day. I had to pay $490. 00 plus dollars out of pocket for parts and labor to get them to replace the molding around both sides of my windshield that had rotted away. While my vehicle was being repaired, I pointed out to the service manager the fact that the door panels were also "melting" and if you poke it, it leaves an indentation in the material and it was clearly a defect as the car is garage kept and should not have these problems. The door panels also get a white film on them when the car sits. I believe it is important to keep in mind, this car has less than 6,000 miles. I think Lexus/Toyota needs to replace the door panels on my car free of charge as the problem is a "defect" in workmanship and not an end user caused issue. I love my Lexus and would not hesitate to purchase another one but this is an issue that should be addressed and repaired at the manufacturers expense since I in no way caused the issues I am experiencing.

6 Structure problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2013

The contact owns a 2008 Lexus is 250. The contact stated that a glare was present on the driver side windshield that obstructed the view of the driver. The cause of the glare was due to the dashboard melting on the driver side. The dealer stated that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 70,000.

7 Structure problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2013

I have noticed over the past 2 years my dash slowly getting shinier and more sticky to the touch. I have tried using quality car plastic/vinyl cleaners to resolve the issue but to no avail. In fact, the dash is so sticky that using a cloth to clean it causes fibers to adhere to the dash. The safety concern is that the shine is producing glare on the inside of the windshield which in turn makes it more difficult to see while driving (especially on sunny days when the sun is high). After doing some research online, it appears that this is a very common issue (especially for those living in warmer climates such as myself) and needs to be resolved for the safety of all drivers experiencing the issue.

8 Structure problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2013

I called in to northside Lexus dealership service department. I explained to them that my dashboard and all my leather on my doors are starting to melt and get sticky. If you hit it with a finger nail, the leather would easily come off. [xxx] which was my service representative told me it's probably what I put on the surfaces to clean it. My response was definitely not. I had used no chemicals at all just a cool water because I didn't want my interior fading on down the line. I reported this in 2011 & 2012. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

9 Structure problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

My whole interior is melting in my car. Large wet spots on dash that make visibility nearly impossible when the sun is shining in the car on the dash board. The cars door panels also have the same issue, which black residue gets on the skin and clothing after brushing up against it. The car is a safety and health hazard and the local Lexus dealership as well as the corporate office will not step in and own up to their defective interior. I have told them multiple times that this is a safety issue and they have no concern and tell me they deny any assistance because I am out of warranty. Please help!.

10 Structure problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2012

The cars interior melted and has become not only a nuisance but has become a safety issue. The melting of the dashboard creates a bright reflection in the windshield whole driving making it difficult to see. Furthermore, the melting of the plastic gives off a chemical odor that may be hazardous. Lastly, this is concerning because it may even affect the functioning of my airbags. Lexus decision to put out a tsis after most people's warranties become void is irresponsible and morally corrupt. Enough people have complained about this safety issue that something needs to be done. There are now class actin lawsuits and thousands of others who signed petitions and complained online, although not through this site but that should not matter. Please do not allow Lexus to get away with this.

11 Structure problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

The dashboard of my 2008 Lexus Is250 melts away everyday as well as the the drivers and passenger side door panels. The melted dashboard causes a glare directly in the viewing sight of the driver especially on really hot and sunny days here in south florida. This causes driving vision to be impaired. The door panels and dashboard leave prints on your hands and fingers when they are touched.

12 Structure problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2012

I purchased my leased Lexus on 12/10/2011. Shortly thereafter, the dashboard started to melt. I have an extend warranty but it does not cover dashboards. I cannot put a cover over the window as the cover sticks to the dashboard. I have been to the Lexus dealership where I purchased it in west palm beach, FL but they will only pay for the part. I would have to pay for labor at a cost of almost $800. 00. I feel that this is considered a defect. I have owned many cars in my lifetime, many less expense than this one and this has never happened to me. When the sun hits the shiny dash, it is difficult to see out the window. I understand that it is happening to many cars and I feel that it is a recall item as it is dangerous to the driver and other cars/pedestrians.

13 Structure problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2010

I have been complaining to the Lexus dealership, and then to corporate Lexus for several years about my dashboard and doors disintegrating, melting away. I have 47,893 miles on the car which is garaged the majority of the day/nights. I have had my car serviced and maintained solely at germaine Lexus of naples. This has been a huge consumer issue per the internet, as well as confirmed by the customer service rep I spoke to at Lexus. B Lexus has repeatedly offered to pay for half. . . . . Which I find ridiculous. I have a 2000 isuzu rodeo with 125,000 miles, that has never been recalled, the dash, sunroof, and electronics still work. . . . Unlike my "luxury" Lexus. This should be a warranty item, it is not - rather, should not be a replaceable part like brakes, clutch, seat motor, etc. This is the dashboard in places that one is unable to access with any body part! thank you, I hope that there will be some resolve on this. It is definitely a wider spread issue than Lexus cares to admit out loud! [xxx], another sdisgruntled Lexus owner. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

14 Structure problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

Melting dashboard. The material used to create the dashboard has been turning soft, gooey, and shiny over the years. The shine is extremely dangerous in that it obstructs and distracts the view of the driver. A recall should be alerted to resolve this issue.
