Upon starting the car the car shook and got a vsc and engine check light. Called the dealer right away and they said they would have to charge 100 to see what happened. Come to find. Out after the fact there was a voluntary notice put out by Lexus on this issue which they have extended warranties for. This has already happened twice to me while driving and both times Lexus will not fix it under warranty claiming it does not happen when they take it in. They will not fix the problem unless it occurs while their testing even though the notification indicating the issue is coming up. They have also claimed it is safe to drive although it does not seem safe to have a car randomly stall at any point of time. My research has shown that this is a common problem for consumers with this car. It is also understood that the fix would require a considerable amount of time to fix by Lexus ( they would need to keep the car for a month). The cost associated with this is likely why they are hesitant to fix.

I have a 2006 Lexus Is250. I noticed "rough" starts and idle. This was at or around 65k miles. I assumed it was related to super cold weather or "bad" gas (after the car sat unused for 2-3 days+) at around 84k miles during warm weather - I experienced both a rough start and stalling at a stop sign. I took the vehicle into my local dealership where it has been meticulously maintained. They did an extended diagnostic (kept the car over a long weekend) and advised my car was not "firing" 65-85% of the time and that it was caused by the valve springs. This is a $5,000 repair. Lexus claimed because the issue was outside the 70k mike warranty they would pay for the "parts" of roughly $4,000 as "goodwill" but I would be responsible for the labor at $945. I did a search for recalls and learned that the exact issue is under recall for other models inclusive of the is350 v6 - which the company regularly refers to as my car's "sibling" and has shared previous recalls with. I've contacted Lexus directly and they have advised the offer is final. They have refused my request to speak with the manufacturing rep. I believe this "stall" issue is a significant safety concern (per the recall noted) I've asked Lexus whether or not they have researched this issue on the v6 250 for which I've not received a response. I believe that Lexus would have used the exact same manufacturer for these value springs and or very similar design specifications. It is incomprehensible that given this specific diagnosis they would not resolve this immediately. I believe absent a NHTSA investigation Lexus will continue to hold customers hostage to pay for their safety although every indication is that this is a design/manufacturing defect for this model as well.

We have returned 2007 Lexus is 250 4 times to dealer for stalling while on highway. Dangerous scenario. Each time the service center stated the car was fixed only to get back on highway and again it stalls. The last two times the car would not go over 5 mph within 24 hours of when car was returned to us. The last three trips to Lexus have been within the last 2 weeks. I don't think Lexus has a grasp of why their cars are stalling.
