Failure Date: 06/27/2017

The contact owns a 2007 Lexus is 350. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle vibrated significantly. The contact managed to pull the vehicle over before it stalled. Also, the check engine, battery, and vsc warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer (Lexus of pleasanton, 4345 rosewood dr, pleasanton, CA, 94588) where it was diagnosed that the engine valve springs failed and a piece of the valve spring fractured. The valve spring fell into the cylinder head and damaged the short block where the pistons were connected, along with an oil leak to the spark plugs. The valve spring and short block needed to be replaced and the cylinders resurfaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was serviced per NHTSA campaign number: 10v309000 (engine) for the engine valve springs in July of 2017 by the dealer (Lexus of concord, 2001 market st, concord, CA,94520); however, the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 1709051152, which was an extension from a different case number. The contact was awaiting a call back from the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

4 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2006 Lexus IS350

Failure Date: 10/24/2013

My vehicle, and doing research there are numerous other Lexus models and years all experiencing oil loss from the timing chain cover gasket causing oil loss that could pose a potential risk to the engine from oil loss and affect drivability and safety. Lexus has not provided a recall on this known issue. They request $3500 to fix the leak with a new gasket. This has the potential to eventually lock up the engine if enough oil leaks out and could cause an accident.
