Dash is melting causing a glare making it hard to see. I was very upset when I purchased my Lexus Is350 and saw the dash starting to melt. Lexus is suppose to be a luxury car but I find it hard to be true with the lack of attention to detail when it comes to the dash and door panel melting. I am only 5'0 tall and no matter if I raise my seat up down back forward the melted dash makes a glare on the windshield making it very hard to almost impossible to see on sunny days. I drive 100 miles for work 5 days a week and I find myself often having to duck down near the steering wheel just so I can see out my windshield. This is a safety issue that needs to be dealt with and took care of completely. Toyota do you want to be the one to call my child when I wreck my car due to a "melting dash" causing a terrible glare making it hard to see and drive??.

I am absolutely disappointed that after seven years the dashboard and door panels of my Is350 have melted! these parts became sticky, glossy, and extremely unsafe. I have done my best to keep my car looking new. I thought when I bought this car I was buying quality and high end material. I've only ever used a soft rag to clean the interior, so this makes me upset and unhappy with the quality and lack of support. I thought that by having the platinum service agreement and Lexus knowing about this problem, theywould have done something to remedy this issue. It's such an ugly feeling to know you've purchased an expensive, luxury car and this happens. Then, I have to pay for it! this is a huge concern for quality and safety.
25% of my 2008 Lexus is 350 dash is melting. The shine from the dash reflects off the windshield producing a significant glare. This issue could potentially cause an accident. The material used for the dash and door panels are defective and not up to par for Lexus or any other luxury auto maker. Contacted Lexus customer care directly and they realize there's an issue based on the pics I sent them. They offered me 25% parts and labor. There is no recall at this point. I bought the car last year, July 2013. It wasn't evident that the dash was melting until summer, this year. I bought a sun shield and tinted the windows to limit the melting dash. The sum shield sticks to the dash now.
The manufacturer needs to recall the dashboard in these vehicles, they become very shiny and sticky in the heat and causes extreme glare while driving. I am worried about how the vehicle safety will be affected by such a sticky surface covering the air bags. Lexus dealership was of no help, this needs to be a recall!.
Melting dashboard. Melted material is causing glare on windshield that is in direct eyesight. Occasionally impairs road view.
Dashboard and door panels are melting, getting sticky and reflecting the light from the outside. .
Dashboard has developed a sticky, shiny appearance. Dealership has acknowledged that these models have this problem but will not cover under warranty. The shiny appearance makes it difficult to see out the windshield in strong sunlight. I feel this is very unsafe. Will the airbag deploy properly with a sticky surface?.
Dashboard has become sticky and shiny in appearance. Brought to dealer for repair, was told it is not covered under any warranty. I voiced concern over airbag failures due to the stick dashboard. It is also not safe to drive in sunny conditions.
2006 Lexus is 350. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle dashboard and door panels were tacky. The consumer stated, when he touched the dashboard and door panels, it felt like glue.
Dashboard is melting causing difficulty to see out of windshield!.
There is an sticky, melting and gloss areas on the dash due to poor quality materials that reflect a glare on the windshield while driving. I called Lexus and the rep. Told that's my car and my problem, many other people are experiencing this issue and Lexus USA not recalling this dash panels.
Recall on defective materials. Sticky melting dashboard and inside panels deteriorating with every touch. The dealer wants to charge me the cost of labor to replace their defective dashboard and panels. The melting/sticky dashboard can be hazard interfering with visibility in the future.
My interior is melted and has stained and ruined new expensive clothing . Its also reflecting sun from dashboard to windshield making it hard to see on sunny days. Its horrible because the rest of my car is in great shape and well kept condition.
The dashboard and other interior panels seem to be melting away. Particularly the dash. It is real sticky in the heat and sun which causes a glaring in the windshield when driving. I believe this is a hazard. I have called Lexus and they will not accept responsibility or acknowledge there is a problem even when others have complained, through research on the internet. Even with sunglasses on the glaring of the " liquid" look on the dash reflecting to the windshield is a hazard.
Dash is melting, sticky,.
Lexus has produced cars with defective interiors that only last a few years. For an expensive luxury car that is supposed to represent quality this is unacceptable. Cars that cost half the price do not have this problem after 10 even 20 years. If you just got into your china-made Toyota camry only to notice that your door panel has inexplicably melted, it's probably not your fault and the problem is going to be fixed for free. As I am told by employees of Lexus, the corporate office of Lexus is well aware of the problem with the material used in the cars Lexus produced in 2007. As the car sits in the sun the door panels start to melt. This makes no sense for a luxury car to have this type of problem. I am requesting that the door panels be changed under my extended warranty even though this should not fall under any warranty repair due to the fact this is a factory defect.
Dashboard material has 'melted' and causes a significant glare in the sun. This makes it unsafe to drive. This has been reported to Lexus. Upper portions of door panels which are the same material as the dashboard have also failed but this is not a safety issue.
The dashboards and door panels seems like it's melting apart. At the touch of it, it feels sticky and call fall off.
I have a 2007 car with 77,000 miles on it. In July of 2011, I noticed that the dashboard was getting sticky and shiny and had the start of a small crack in it. Over the next few years, the crack got huge and spread. At this point I can actually peel parts of the dash off by hand. The plastic on the dash looks like it is melting, it is shiny and sticky to the touch. Another issue I have with my car is the rubber gaskets in all the windows are melting. The seal hasn't been compromised yet but it leaves nasty streaks on the windows when I go to roll them down. I never have clean windows. I do live in florida and it gets super hot here but the other cars (non-Lexus) that we own do not have either of these problems. I really loved my Lexus when we purchased it, but I am super disappointed in it now, and the fact that because it is no longer under warranty, they won't cover it being repaired. I'm not even sure it;s worth it at this point. Unfortunately, I will never buy another Lexus ever again.
The dash is sticky and reflex in the windshield. Lexus will not do anything for me. I also had my nav system touch screen fail. No Lexus help.
The dashboard and door panels are all cracking and the black rubber material is very soft and sticky and it marks and chips away easily.
Door panels to interior gooey sticky and marked. Chunks and gouges from normal wear. Noticed months after purchased. Had to have dashboard replaced because of gauges dealership put on the car from repair of a faulty airbag. Have seen numerous complaints about interior. Poor quality interior from a luxury car.
2006 Lexus Is350. Dashboards and door panels are sticky and melting. As a result dashboard causes a shiny unwanted reflective glare which reduces visibility while driving, potentially causing a safety issue increasing the chance or risk of a crash or accident. Furthermore, the door panels are so sticky and soft, one cannot touch them without scratching, ripping or damaging them. Door panels also produce a reflective blinding glare off them, also purposing a safety hazard. Materials used in the manufacturing of the interior trim is very poor causing unwanted damage and safety issues. A recall should be issued to replace these defective interior trim decor on known defective date and models which are out of warranty. Problems start to arise soon after warranty expires. I have made a complaint with the Lexus dealership after the many recalls they have had on my car. My biggest concern is my melting dashboard and the hazardous glare and film it omits on my windshield. It has proven to be very dangerous as I work and live in florida. As a mother of two teenage daughters trying to teach them to drive in my car has proven very difficult and dangerous, let alone my daily driving. I have asked that Toyota/Lexus steps up as this is not a cosmetic fault but a dangerous and an accident waiting to happen. And I don't want it to be my family! as in medical terms, they need to think of a preventative measure. I know I am not alone on this battle and want to see the manufacturer step up and make this one of the many recalls they have had on my vehicle as well as the others suffering with this same dangerous situation. Tired of putting my family and myself at jeopardy!.
Brand new Lexus is 350 had heavy dash board rattling complaint on the first week! vehicle was given to Lexus and they held vehicle for few days and returned vehicle. Complaint recurred second time after a month and vehicle was again sent to Lexus. Lexus held vehicle for over a week and gave back. Complaint occurred third time and vehicle is still at Lexus service station. Heavy dash rattling noise distracts driver and diverts driver concentration. This could lead to serious road accidents ! this complaint has to be investigated to avoid future mishaps !!!.
2006 Lexus is 350. Consumer writes in regards to warranty enhancement notice -dashboard, front and rear interior door panels cracks/sticky/melting and front passenger airbag inflator recall notice causes are similar due to temperature or humidity. Updated 05/1/2017.
