Starter Problems of Lexus LS

I own a 2006 Lexus Ls430, which I've had since new. It only has about 70k miles on it and has been maintained solely at Lexus dealership where vehicle was purchased in raleigh nc. Today while reversing down a steep drive my vehicle suddenly lost power and cut off. I lost all hydraulic brake assistance and steering assist. I was moving at about 8 mph at time of failure. No malfunction indicators appeared on the dash before or after this. My vehicle had at least 10 gallons of fuel in the tank as it indicates about ⅝ full. I was able to restart the vehicle after stopping and the car ran fine on my way home. I am scheduling an appointment with dealership for inspection but this was scary and I'm just concerned if the same thing happened at highway speeds if it could be fatal like the gm ignition recall. My vehicle is equipped with keyless ignition so no keys were in the starter that could have switched ignition off.

The contact owns a 1997 Lexus Ls. When the contact attempted to start the vehicle, it would not start and a clicking sound was heard. She attempted to start the vehicle a third time and was successful. She drove the vehicle to her destination and when she parked the vehicle, the engine would not turn off. The contact smelled a burning odor coming from the engine. Five minutes later, the vehicle shut off. She inspected the vehicle under the hood and noticed burnt wires. The vehicle was towed to a local repair shop and the mechanic stated that there was an electrical short circuit with the starter motor, which caused the under hood fire. The manufacturer and dealer stated that her VIN was not included in any recalls; therefore, they were not liable for the repairs. The current and failure mileages were 80,000.

Vehicle has trouble starting. I own a 1998 Ls400 that has trouble starting. The ignition has to be turned several times(20) to get the starter to turn. The NHTSA campaign 98v016000 regarding the 1995-1997 Ls400 for starter assembly due to faulty assembly for the magnetic switch would apply to the 1998 I would assume(since the 1998 were assembled in 1997). Please advise.
