2 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Lexus LS460

Failure Date: 11/18/2021

My 2013 Lexus Ls460 with ~50,000mi had its brake actuator failed (c1391 - leak in the accumulator). A month prior to code c1391 being triggered, the vehicle experienced inconsistent braking pressure with severe brake pedal modulation required to stop the vehicle. Traveling at speeds under 30 mph the vehicle would intermittently hesitate to stop. Moreover, a squawk noise was present when depressing the brake pedal. Code c1391 was triggered on 11/18/2021. Upon contacting Lexus dealers and national customer service (guest incident #211121-000001) to repair the part under warranty, Lexus denied warranty. Inquiry was also made for Lexus dealers and Lexus customer service as to the correct brake actuator part number required for replacement. Both Lexus dealers and national customer service provided the wrong/superseded replacement part number (I. E. , part 44050-50110). Below is the customer's research model Ls460 brake actuators: -per 2016 zlg warranty: 2007-2012 Ls460 came with part 44050-50090, 44050-50130 to be replaced by 04003-45450 actuator. -per 2016 lsb-0047-2013-2017 Ls460 came with part 44510-50070 and 44050-50110 to be replaced with the same model 44050-50110 actuator for brake squawk noise. -per 2019 lsb-0047-2007-2017 Ls460 came with part 44050-50110, 44050-50130, 44050-50150, 44050-50170, 44050-50090 to be replaced with 44050-50170 if repairs fail to remedy the brake squawk noise. It appears Lexus has attempted to revised the brake actuator various times to arrive at part 44050-50170, for which continues to fail. It also appears many superseded units are still being sold as replacements for failed actuators online through Lexus dealerships and Lexus authorized retailers. It must also be noted that a failing brake actuator (even prior to code c1391) will cause the brake booster pump to prematurely fail as the brake booster has to constantly pressurize the system causing it to overheat. Both repairs are urgent costing $3000-3500 each.

3 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Lexus LS460

Failure Date: 07/01/2021

The contact owns a 2007 Lexus Ls460. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, an abnormal tapping noise would emit from the brakes. As the failure persisted, the vehicle would drift upon depression of the brake pedal as "the pull over immediately, contact your local dealer," warning message and the abs warning light appeared on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle back to the independent mechanic where he purchased the vehicle but was offered no assistance. The contact then took the vehicle to a dealer where he was informed that the brake pads and rotors were aftermarket parts that caused the failure and needed to be replaced. The contact declined to the have the vehicle repaired; however, as the failure worsened, the contact had the vehicle towed back to the dealer where they diagnosed the vehicle with a defective lower control arm as well as the failure with the brake pads and rotors. The contact declined the repair again and had the vehicle towed to his sister's home. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000.

11 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Lexus LS460

Failure Date: 06/24/2019

Experiencing both the dreaded brake actuator assembly issue as well as the very common mark levinson amplifier issue, on model # 0w480. Was in conversation with Lexus customer satisfaction and they are completely unwilling to step in and do the right thing in assisting me with either, or both, problems. I've owned this vehicle for all of 2 months, and although I understand that I bought it used, as-is with higher mileage, I think that since there was a recent warranty enhancement program issued by Lexus on the brake actuator assembly, and also that the failed amplifier is a very, very well-known issue, where the amplifier all of a sudden one day cuts out and all sound is replaced by an incessant chirping noise that's only stopped by pulling the wiring harness on the amp or a fuse, that Lexus should do the right thing by its loyal customers and replace free of charge. But they will not, because exactly like every other company in the entire world, they simply do not care about the customer or their experience. Sorry, but this is the only way I am able to view my experience.

14 Service Brakes problem of the 2008 Lexus LS460

Failure Date: 01/03/2019

I purchased this car in 2018 and it had less than 75,000 miles on it. I've recently noticed that whenever I press the brake pedal, there is a clicking/popping sound. I'm unsure what it is. I know that it shouldn't be happening. I've read on this site that it maybe the brake actuator. Is there a recall for this problem since it's been brought to Lexus/Toyota attention?.

18 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Lexus LS460

Failure Date: 07/17/2018

I was driving home at 25mph (without my child) approaching an intersection, when the car in front of me makes a last minute lane change to turn at the intersection, I go to break and it doesn't break, the pedal reacts hard where it's always a soft compression, the dash lights up flashing the message "break malfunction" "check abs, check vsc, check brake system, not to drive vehicle due to system failure, contact deal immediately". I coast down the road and upon breaking again the whole car shakes making steering and especially turning very difficult. I take it 5mph the rest of the way and once home and parked, I try to restart the vehicle. When depressing the brake to activate the electric start, the break kicked back and the car would not start. I had the vehicle towed to the dealer it was purchased from. The dealer did confirm it was the break actuator assembly (l-sb-0178-09) that had been issued a special warranty (policy bulletin 16-01) with a 10 year term from purchase date. Unfortunately the issue had not been taken care of with the original owner and then became a problem 8 months after I made the purchase. . . Which is now out of the special warranty term. I am currently working to resolve the issue and hope Lexus will help cover the $2600 repair. More importantly I am hoping it becomes a recall because of the safety issue. I can't imagine what would of happened if I was on the freeway.

Failure Date: 11/24/2016

While braking gradually, with the brake pedal in a steady position, the car lurches/pulses, the tires makes loud skidding sound then the car comes to a hard stop as though it has slammed into something. This has happened on multiple occasions at low speeds, where it feels like im pressing the brake and letting go, and pressing again, but in reality, the brakes are being pressed at a constant pressure. This is different than the abs feeling, as the brake pedal does not travel beneath my foot, and the release and grabbing of the brakes seem very slow. It happen the first time with about 50,000 miles, going about 25-30 mph. Then with 86,000, going about 5-7 mph.
