Lexus LS460 owners have reported 13 problems related to vehicle speed control (under the vehicle speed control category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I am experiencing an anti lock brakes actuator failure. Upon starting the vehicle it gives the warning "stop the vehicle and contact a dealer". The extended warranty is limited by mileage and years. Being a key safety component in vehicle operation, I am requesting this issue be converted into a recall.

The vehicle almost caused my elderly parents to get into an accident. The power to the vehicle is lost. The gas pedal would not accelerate and the steering wheel pulled the vehicle to one direction. The car was in motion when the light came on "check vsc" system. Lexus has had a problem with the fuel injectors and sensors before on these vehicles. On ours a recall was said to be needed for the sensor but instead the sensor was just wiped and cleaned and a cover on it was changed. Currently vehicle does not move more then 3mph and occasionally vehicle also shuts off. All lights are lit up on car.

Driving in las vegas on paradise rd (north), somewhere around e desert inn rd intersection. My speed was about 30-35 mph. There were steel plates on the road. Pre-crash system of my Lexus suddenly activated without any reason (maximum break strenght, seat belts also tightened) and completely stopped the car. It was extremely scarry. I did some research on the internet and it looks similar to a known issue with 2013-2015 Lexus ES/Toyota avalon (resolved by a recall).

I was backing out of a parking space and stopped with the brake on to proceed forward out of the lot. I put the car from reverse into drive and it simply took off at an extraoridnarily high speed. I had not yet even put my foot on the accelerator. The car barreled into a tree that was 20-25 feet in front of it and crashed. The air bags deployed and the whole front end was destroyed. The car was towed to a collision service where it was examined and found to have an erratic throttle.

In oct of 2011 brakes would seem to lock up for no apparent reason. . . I took Lexus to dealer and they could not establish any reason. . . . This would happen, several times, again and after stopping would clear up and drive normally. The last time it stopped dead while driving in city traffic at around 30 mph several dash lights came on such as; abs, vsc, check brakes, brake malfunction. I was able to get car to go again and took it to torrence Lexus for their inspection. . . They are working on now. . . . My wife will not drive the car for fear of the brakes locking up at high speeds. . . . I'm getting to that point myself.

On September 2, 2010, while driving my Lexus Ls460, I was sitting in traffic at a complete stop with my foot on the brake. Suddenly the car began revving at a very high rate. Luckily, I was able to keep my foot firmly down on the brake & shift the car into neutral so that it didn't "jump" forward and hit the truck that was stopped ahead of me. I immediately contacted the Lexus dealership that I purchased my car from and was put on the line w/ the general manager of the service department. He told me that I must have had my foot on the gas pedal. I told him that this was impossible since I was at a stop directly behind a stopped truck. He said that the black boxes of all the cars that had previously complained of this problem had been checked and that it had all been found to be driver error. It is without a doubt that I was not pushing the accelerator when this happened, my foot was on the brake pedal, or I would have smashed into the truck that was less than 3 feet ahead of me. I attempted to send a letter to the department of transportation on that date but it was returned to me due to not having an agency or room number. I am simply trying to make both Lexus and others aware of what occurred.
The speed control in my 2007 Lexus Ls460 fails to disconnect when light pressure (tap) is applied to brakes at any speed. A slight deceleration is noticed, however, the speed control does not disconnect as on every other vehicle I have owned. My dealership has looked at the problem and Lexus corporate sent a special technician to investigate my concern. I was told that this is the way the Lexus speed control works.
