Hybrid propulsion system - inverter failure how do we get our VIN on the recall list? our repair should be covered. Our issue is exactly the same problem encountered by the vehicles covered under the hybrid propulsion recall (2005-2008) and our 2006 vehicle is a year which is covered my wife was in a dangerous situation for 4 hours because of this faulty system which has a history of failing and has a known recall a vehicle which had no issues, within a few minutes, turned into a dangerous vehicle losing power on the turnpike, breaking down in the middle of the night, and is now inoperable and worthless, is unacceptable if Toyota and Lexus are reputable companies and stand behind their product, I would hope they stand up and accept responsibility for an obvious faulty hybrid system.

The system component that malfunctioned was the fuel tank overfill check valve, also referred to the rollover valve located in the top of the gas tank. The valve is suppose to prevent any fuel purging or fuel leaking during a rollover accident. Unfortunately, the valve can malfunction during normal refueling without the owner being aware. For a few years, I have been smelling fuel fumes during and after refueling. I would sometimes discover a pool of raw fuel under the gas tank and charcoal canister during/after refueling and up to 12 miles later. The vehicle started hesitating, missing and actually stalling after refueling. Three professional mechanics couldn't solve the problem. In an attempt to eliminate this safety issue, I replaced the gas tank, gas filler tube, fuel vapor purge valve and charcoal canister. I finally discovered a tube from the malfunctioning overfill valve was sending raw fuel directly to the charcoal canister, filling the charcoal canister and ultimately overflowing onto the ground outside of the vehicle. I decided to cut a hole in the vehicle floor under the rear seat and replace the fuel tank overfill check valve. The design of the replacement valve was different from the original and incorporated a float type check valve rather than just the simple diaphragm in the original. Maybe Toyota/Lexus quietly redesigned the valve, but all owners should be aware of the redesign and the vehicles should be recalled. Thousands of these vehicles are still on the road because people love them. These vehicles and the valves are aging and failing. Dangerous fire potential certainly exist. One previous owner did have this problem, I believe, and his vehicle burned to the ground. It's an extreme safety issue not just because of the hesitating/stalling in traffic after refueling, but mostly because of the raw fuel leaking from the charcoal canister under the vehicle right in the immediate vicinity of the hot exhaust and the gas tank.

Dealership inspection. Disclosure-satisfactory throughout the list actual inspector-visible leaks to the naked eye when looking under the car. I was misled in this purchase as there are problems with this vehicle that were not disclosed to me before purchase.

Pulling in to a parking slot at dental office, with my foot on the brake, the car suddenly revved and accelerated forward at a high speed. With my foot still on the brake, the car did not stop until hitting the rock wall side of the building.

I was slowly entering from i15 to h-78 west. Suddenly car began to rev and accelerate as if I was flooring gas pedal. I jabbed at pedal a couple times and hit brakes. . . It stopped within a few seconds. . . . Not sure if what I did had anything to do with it stopping. My gas pedal is not sticky and smoothly adjusts. My vehicle is in pristine condition and has had all maintenance. I was fortunate I had several car lengths clear. I am 100% certain I did not accidentally slip or push on pedal. While it was accelerating I even lifted foot completely off pedal and it still was going.

My 2004 Lexus Rx330 has repeatedly had acceleration problems when I have slowed and need to accelerate quickly due to traffic conditions. Today on the way to work I was trying to merge on to highway traffic and nearly got rear-ended because my vehicle didn't accelerate when I pressed the pedal as I was trying to merge in to the lane. There have been countless times in the 2 years I've owned this vehicle that I have experienced near collisons due to the sluggish or lack of acceleration when I depress the accelerator pedal. My husband won't even drive the vehicle due to this problem as he feels unsafe on the road in it. I have taken it to the dealer numerous times and they installed a computer update or patch twice with no resolution to the problem. The dealer's service manager said this is a common problem with the '04 Rx330 and that Lexus has said they are not going to do anything to remedy the problem although they did correct it in the 2005 model. Given the manufacturer is aware of a potential significant safety issue related to this they are for some reason not being held accountable or responsible for this dangerous situation. Consumer protection from negligent manufacturers is the government's responsibility, isn't it? what can be done to require Lexus to provide consumers with an acceptable solution to this significant vehicle safety issue?.
