I went into small tree, drove over another car, car flipped on side, then flipped over on roof and into another parked car. Engine overtook the brakes. I am original owner with car extremely well maintained by Lexus. I have never heard or felt this car like this before.

Took vehicle on road at 35 to 40 mph, took foot off gas and vehicle kept accelerating at a modest pace to above 50. Glanced at floormat (not touching accelerator), put car in neutral. Engine revved to high rpm than came back to normal. Put back in gear and drove short distance home.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2000 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 06/27/2014

With little/no warning, automatic transmission (2wd) failed. All gears (p,r,n,d,2,1) worked like neutral gear. If this would've occurred a few minutes earlier, my children and I (located at a sharp turn over a steep hill) could've been seriously injured or killed. Apparently, this is a common problem in Lexus Rx300's from year 1999-2002. How many early transmission failures does it take to have a recall?.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2002 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 12/20/2013

My wife was driving in freeway (highway 101 in bay area, CA) around 8:00pm. The car was at a speed of ~60 miles/hr. The car started accelerating independently. My wife exited 101 immediately and found that she could not get the car to fully stop even though she applied the brake fully. The car was still idling full throttle after my wife put the car in park. Then my wife shut off the engine. I had the car towed to Lexus dealer service. The dealer's advisor told me he has not seen this kind of case before and he has to talk to his manager; unfortunately his manager is not available and he will have his manager call me.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 1999 Lexus RX300

My wife was driving her Lexus 300 RX to a grocery store when car stopped to react on the accelator pedal, then suddenly, the Lexus very strongly accelerated - this also happend before - and its very scary. Case # 480283.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2003 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 05/15/2011

The vehicle suddenly lost transmission on the road and was rolling freely. The gears does not work anymore and the vehicle rolls as if its in neutral. When search the internet I looked at lot of the customers complaining about exact same thing, about this vehicle having transmission issues especially for Rx300. No wonder Toyota has this many recalls and surprised that their premium brand has the same issues with safety. I am glad that this did not happen on a highway.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2002 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 12/31/2010

In attempting to park my vehicle at a store parking lot, at very low speed (<1 mph) with my foot on or hovering over the brake pedal, my car lunged forward, jumped the 'stopper' and ran into a handicap parking pole. The car engine continued to race/accerlerate until I removed the key from the ignition. The store surveillance system caught the accident on tape. Had it not been for the upright concrete pole, my vehicle very well would have caused injury to others. Fortunately, neither my passenger nor I were injured. My insurance company found no damage to my brakes; and resulting damage to the front end has been repaired. However, since the accident, I have had my front brakes replaced. I am considerably more cognizant of slight accelleration of the vehicle without my assistance!!.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2000 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 10/24/2009

My parents own a 2000 Lexus Rx300. On the way back from a wedding, the car started to accelerate and my dad could not stop the car. He had to go over through a gas station parking lot to avoid cars stopped at a light. He said the engine kept revving high and the car kept accelerating. He was able to stop the car by running the wheels along the curb. After my dad and my mom were safe, he called me. I rushed over to the car and checked it out. No check engine lights and no other known issues. I called aaa for a tow. I started the car and everything seemed to be okay so I moved it into the parking lot away from the street. I let the car sit for awhile and made sure there was nothing wrong with it. I also checked the floor mats just in case something was stuck but nothing was. They ended up driving home that night. We had to service the brakes because they were all worn from the ordeal.

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2000 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 09/19/2009

I experienced and had an accident due to the revving engine issue with Toyota/Lexus. I have a 2000 (used) Lexus SUV and was pulling into a parking space in the lot of a business when the accident happened. I did not have my foot on the gas as I was allowing the car to "creep" into position but had it hovering and/or touching the brake pedal. All of a sudden the engine revved and starting speeding forward, again without my foot on the gas pedal. It happened suddenly and quickly and I immediately hit a sign at the front of the parking space. This set off the air bags, jamming me back in the seat and pulling the seat back. I could not longer reach the pedals but I was stunned by the seat belt explosion. The car went over the sign (flattened it), over a low cement barricade, and into the side of the business. I was not seriously injured due to the air bags but the front of the car was badly damaged. I've never received an type of recall notice and nothing has been done to repair the defect. I'm driving a very scary time bomb.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2002 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 05/26/2009

I owned a 2002 Lexus Rx300, which was totaled in may of 2009 due to a sticking accelerator. After I started it in my garage, the very second, I engaged the drive gear, with my foot securely planted on the brake, my vehicle took off like a rocket. It crashed thru my garage door, proceeded about 20 feet across my driving pad, crashed thru a brick retaining wall and did not stop until it hit my neighbors house next door. My vehicle was totaled and collision resulted in massive damage to my home and my neighbors home. Toyota inspected my vehicle and advised that my incident was not the result of a manufacturing defect and that they were unable to determine the cause. My vehicle had 61,000 miles and was in mint condition, at the time of the crash. I reported this incident to NHTSA on 6/1/09. There has been no mention of later model Lexus in any of the conversations. Id like for someone to address my issue as well. Thank you.

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2001 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

The gas pedal on my 2001 Lexus RX 300 sometimes sticks. I was not too concerned until the recall of other Toyota products for the same problem. For the most part, the pedal sticks in the idle position so it has not been a problem.
