When depressing the remote or manually opening the rear lift gate sometimes the rear lift gate (door) will start to close automatically and it can only be stopped by pressing the remote or button on lift gate or applying large amount of pressure to hold door open. Twice a person has been in the line of fire and had to jump out of way when placing an item in the rear of the car. On another time the lift gate hit a person in the head when they did not get out of the way fast enough. The Lexus dealer has checked the auto closure system and replaced battery in remote and find nothing wrong. The problem still continues once in a while. This is very dangerous and a person could get pinned in the lift gate.

7 Body problem of the 2005 Lexus RX330

Failure Date: 05/15/2014

My dashboard began to show signs of cracking about a year ago. It started to crack around the radio/audio components and spread quickly like a spider web. Lexus agreed to replace the dashboard at no charge, but not the labor costs. While replacing it, they advised me that the power steering rack and pinion had severe fluid leakage on right side, boot deteriorated. The cost of this repair was $1,856. 00. There was also an issue with the left front cv axle inboard joint boot, an additional $412. 00. In reading all the complaints on this website and on the internet, it appears that the dashboard and the rack and pinion are a common problems that Lexus is aware of. A service representative also told me that the RX 350 has a significant problem with the rack and pinion, but Lexus is not willing to do anything about it. I am hoping that this brings light to these issues and something is done about this.

8 Body problem of the 2004 Lexus RX330

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

My dashboard has been recalled and mine is split and keeps getting larger especially where the passenger airbag is located. Lexus told me in July 2015 that the "dashboards will be released at the end of this month. " that did not happen. The response that I received as to whether my airbags were takata, Lexus responded, "unfortunately we do not have data on the manufacturer. . . . But can assure you that . . . The airbags. . . Are not under any recall at this time. " I am suppose to feel good driving my car with that statement? they have always known every part in my car by VIN #. I am also driving around with the headlights' excessive moisture after they finally could replace those. Alluding me that I would be able to get the dashboard fixed at the end of July, I held off get that repaired until I could do all three. Now, I believe that the headlights' repair will be at my expense. When is NHTSA. Dot. Gov going to enforce the recalls? I & many others are driving death vehicles!!! are my children going to have to sue both you & Lexus for neglect? I, & numerous others, thought that we were paying you to protect us. When are you going to protect us instead of just recording our issues?.

10 Body problem of the 2004 Lexus RX330

Failure Date: 08/18/2013

I was driving southbound on the 405 in los angeles. I was beginning to change lanes and was looking into my driver's side rear view mirror when I observed the molding come off of the left rear quarter panel window and strike the hood and windshield of the car behind me. It occurred to me how dangerous this could have been if a motorcyclist had been following me. It could have easily hit him or her directly in the face. In researching the internet for a price on the molding, I have since learned a large number of Rx330 owners have had this issue. Additionally, I have learned that Lexus does not sell the molding separately. Instead, they sell the entire window assembly, and I have seen postings of some owners paying as much as $400. 00 to have a dealer replace the window. This item should not be regularly launching itself off of these vehicles endangering others on the roadway. Lexus should be retrofitting these vehicles with improved mounting for this molding instead of charging owners for the company's mistake. With the number of these vehicles on the road, it seems it is only a matter of time before someone following one of these vehicles is injured or worse.

13 Body problem of the 2011 Lexus RX330

Failure Date: 02/26/2013

My wife was stopped at a light. There were two lanes. One going straight and the other turning right. She was turning right. When the light turned green, both her and the car going straight advanced. A car coming from another direction, swerved past the car going straight and hit my wife on the left side front, and then pushed her into a traffic pole in the median of the street she was turning into. My wife's car was totaled as a result. The airbags never deployed and she suffered a fractured sternum, in great pain. When I went to the bodyshop where the car was taken, I saw another RX 330, same amount of damage and it to, did not have a deployed air bag. The explanation I received from the dealer was, that at the first impact to the front side (at the headlight), that impact damaged the sensors to the airbags, and when it then struck head on, the sensors were not functioning to deploy the air bag. : if the sensors were compromised, why would they not deploy. . . Isn't that the purpose of air bags???.

14 Body problem of the 2005 Lexus RX330

Failure Date: 09/12/2012

We are experiencing severe cracking and softening of the dashboard material. This has happened even though we have garaged the vehicle since purchasing. We also have a 2005 Toyota camry which has no dashboard issues and it has been left outside consistently since purchased new in 2005. We feel that the cracking and softening of the dashboard presents a chemical health risk.

15 Body problem of the 2006 Lexus RX330

Failure Date: 07/21/2012

At approximately 4 in afternoon, I had come to a complete stop in front of my townhouse. My foot was still on the brake from stopping (I was just about to put it in park and take out key and unfasten seat belt) when it lurched forward and started to accelerate. I tried to steer and pump the brakes but nothing worked. It was totally out of my control. The car lunged forward going over the side walk and into my front porch, directly hitting my wrought iron bannister. The distance from the parking place to the bannister is about 10 feet. The car acceleration stopped on impact. I immediately called my insurance CO and I called the police and filled out a police report. I live across from our community swimming pool. Children are constantly walking on sidewalk in front of my house on way to pool. Neighbors walk by my house to walk their dogs as well. Someone could have easily been injured or killed. I have not driven the car since the event. Lexus USA and the dealership will not address the problem with me. I bought the car. . Used. . Only 6 months ago. My car was damaged in the front, and my wrought iron bannister was destroyed. My main concern is the fact that the car displayed unintended acceleration and is not safe for anyone to drive.

17 Body problem of the 2005 Lexus RX330

Failure Date: 12/03/2011

My 6 year old Lexus window molding flew off on both quarter size back windows in the last month. This is a hazard as it went flying off in the highway, one day and not even a month later, the other one flew off and almost hit a pedestrian. They said I will need to replace the entire window for the molding. This sounds like the window could possibly fly off as well if the molding isnt something you can just clip back on. There are several websites of this complaint, but Lexus is not willing to do anything. I have a message from Lexus headquarters stating since out of warranty they will not replace. I feel this is very dangerous and cheap of Lexus. . Read more...

18 Body problem of the 2006 Lexus RX330

Failure Date: 11/19/2010

While driving at highway speed the left rear quarter window molding came flying off my Lexus 2006 RX-330. Made a flapping noise previous to coming off. Checked on the web @ clublexus . Com and found this to be a problem with a lot of other RX owners. If you are in warranty, no problem, but out of warranty like I am. Problem is that Lexus does not sell just the molding, you have to buy the entire window. The molding is on double stick tape onto the window rubber seal. Lexus p/n 62730-48230.

19 Body problem of the 2004 Lexus RX330

Failure Date: 03/14/2010

At freeway speed of 65 mph a loud pop was heard from the right rear "c" pillar area. Upon examination it was observed that the plastic molding around the "c" pillar glass and framing had popped out and was dangling on one edge. Pulled the vehicle over at a safe spot and observed the molding had popped clean from it's frame as if someone had neatly pushed it out from the inside. If this piece had completely left it's place, it may have hit another vehicle in the windshield that was behind or adjacent to me.
