1 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2005 Lexus RX330

Failure Date: 08/22/2016

The contact owns a 2005 Lexus Rx330. While driving various speeds with the air conditioner activated, water leaked from the air vents into the front driver and passenger side carpet. As a result, there was moisture build up that caused mold and mildew. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 67,000. The VIN was unavailable.

2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2005 Lexus RX330

Failure Date: 06/29/2015

My wife (who is not the primary driver of this vehicle) was entering a perpendicular parking space in front of a business located just off the street. The business was once a house and has now put 3 parking spaces in front of the building just over the sidewalk. The entrance is up a driveway and just beyond the sidewalk and into the parking spaces. As she was going up the driveway and turn slightly to the right to enter a parking space, the car hesitated and then accelerated, she applied the brakes and left a 5 foot skid mark before crashing into the front of the business. The car has done this before especially when turning and applying a little gas, it will hesitate and then suddenly accelerate, but never continuing after applying the brake. We have discussed this previously with the Lexus dealer and they say there is no problem with the vehicle and that computers that control the engine and transmission constantly adjust to the primary driver may create this issue, but it is not a problem as far as they are concerned.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2006 Lexus RX330

Failure Date: 02/20/2014

Backing car out of garage and accelerator automatically increased high speed. I was unable to stop. Car hit garage door and damaged the garage door, wall, front driver side quarter panel, front bumper. Approx $3600 car damage and $1500 garage damage. Fortunate that no other damage or injuries occurred. This never happened before and was very unexpected. I am now afraid that this may happen again under unexpected circumstances with more severe consequences.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2004 Lexus RX330

Failure Date: 10/15/2009

Driving conservatively through a pharmacy parking lot; abruptly took a right hand turn into an available parking space ( habitually prefer a left-handed parking entry); engine roared, tires squealed and auto jumped over the concrete parking barrier/ over the curb/ and proceeded to strike near the door entrance and a support wall. Airbags did not deploy.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2004 Lexus RX330

Failure Date: 12/24/2005

My friend (26 year old male) was driving my 2004 Lexus Rx330 at around 9am on christmas eve morning. Witnesses state that he was traveling south on a residential street and crossed a busy 6-lane divided roadway at 80 mph. He continued on the residential street at which time he left the roadway and vaulted across an embankment hitting a block wall. He was killed instantly. Pima county sheriff and medical examiner investigated and could find no reason for the excessive speed or the collision. No drugs or alcohol were found in his system and he had no medical problems. I have no doubt now that I have read other reports that something was mechanically wrong with the Lexus and that caused this fatal accident; updated 003/30/10 updated 06/30/10.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2004 Lexus RX330

Failure Date: 04/10/2005

2004 Lexus RX-330 awd. Vehicle hesitates when attempting to accelerate. There is a delay, especially when going from a dead stop such as pulling out into traffic. Also, if you attempt to quickly speed up as when merging or an evasive maneuver, the engine lags. Will also happen when turning a corner, then accelerating. I have been told by Lexus that this is a known problem with the "throttle by wire" and "intelligent transmission". I currently pull the ecu fuse monthly to reset the processors and that appears to help for a while. That is the "fix" suggested by the Lexus RX-330 forums. Now that 2006 models are coming, I know this is no longer on the Lexus engineers' minds, but there are those of us that feel this is a safety issue as you never know if the car will respond reliably, especially when pulling into traffic, creating a real hazard.
