3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2012

I parked my car in a parking spot to do some errands and, before I could put the car in park and turn the car off, the car shot forward and went through some shrubs, across a walkway, and finally ran straight into a brick wall of one of the stores I was going to. Several bricks fell off the building and , needless to say, I was as shaken up as the building. Since there is a wide walkway between the shrubs and the building, if anyone had been going to or from the store, that person or persons would,in all likelihood, have been killed. There were several witnesses who saw my car pull into the space, come to a stop, and then fly across the shrubs, sidewalk and into the building. My foot never touched the accelerator at the time of the incident and, according to the company that repaired the car, there was no need to adjust/replace the floormat or the accelerator or the brakes.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2010

At approx. 8:05 am on Thursday, December 2nd I was stopped behind a school bus that was picking up children at the intersection (1-2) min wait) I gave the car enough gas to make the right hand turn onto crockers lake blvd. Which is only approx. 150-200 ft in length. I estimate the speed was between 10-15 mph when I began braking to make the left hand turn into the citation club apartments when I noticed the vehicle was not slowing. I pressed the brake pedal harder and the car continued to pull against the brakes. As I approached the end of crookers lake blvd I had both feet on the brakes and the car was slowing, however the engine was "screaming" and the tachometer was approaching to "red-line". I managed to make the left hand turn and as the car slowed I shifted it into park to stop it. The engine was screaming so I turned the ignition to off position. I attempted to restart the vehicle and it immediately red-lined again; I immediately turned off the car. Updated 03/11/11.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2008

Unexpected acceleration it has happened with two different drivers. Once when in "park" and once while on the highway. No damage or injuries occurred.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2008

I drive a 2007 Lexus RX 350 which was purchased and I have noticed that periodically it surges forward when my foot is on the brakes. It happens a lot even in slow traffic. I first noticed it when backing out of my driveway a few times. At that time I got so frightened that I had to check if I made a mistake and pressed the brakes instead, but my foot was definitely in the brakes. I travel on an expressway to get to work in the mornings and quite a few times I notice the surge, but usually I am driving slowly. In general I'm not a fast driver. I mentioned it to the servicer of my car, they drive it and indicates that they did not find a problem. It does not happen all the time, only periodically. It is very frightening because it is so unpredictable.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Lexus Rx350. While driving between 35-40 mph she experienced unintended vehicle acceleration. Consequently she rear-ended the proceeding vehicle. Both drivers of each vehicle received bruises from the impact. A police report was available. The vehicle received $13,000 worth of damages. A representative from the manufacturer was sent to inspect her vehicle. The inspector could not locate a defect in her vehicle. The failure mileage was 12,179.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2007

2007 Lexus Rx350. Response time from gas pedal action to car responding is slow (about 2-3 sec. ) I never know when the car is going to start/stop moving. The start delay is constant. Acceleration reduction is also 2-3 sec. And infrequent. The most recent prolonged acceleration event is documented in your approximate incident date spaces. If I need to try to get out of another drivers path and step on the gas in order to "move", the rear end squeals and control is sacrificed. Two different Lexus dealers have seemed unconcerned and have not even documented my complaints.
