Other Fuel System Problems of Lexus RX350

After driving normally we smelled gas in the car and noticed fuel going low fast . I pulled from the freeway and tried to fill gas and noticed the gas was leaking from a hole in the exposed area of a corner on the tank. My family were able to safely jump out of the car and 911 was called. There were no warning sign on dashboard. I don’t drive off road or over any objects that I am aware as there is no light or heavy damage underneath except fuel tank . This is am sure is due to small debris hitting the exposed tank causing the tear although I did t recall . The tank is left underneath exposed and need to be investigated for manufacture defect . I called Lexus to report it and they were not receptive saying I did an extreme off road driving to cause this damage which is not true , . If a stone hits the tank to cause the hole and leak the gas , it’s a scary situation for everyone. Lexus doesn’t believe in my story. The gas tank is left exposed and that’s where it cracked. ’ I drove almost 75 miles on a brand new Lexus RX 350 with fuel leaking which was scary. I hope you look into this immediately. Lexus is not very helpful and wants me to keep quite. The liquid you see in the picture in gas station was leaking fuel. Driving on highway, my vehicle stalled when I hit gas pedal, then it resumed normal speed. This has happen many times, but seems to be more noticeable now. I don't feel safe driving this vehicle.

When flooring the accelerator it hesitates and bucks.

Recall for fuel delivery pipe -replacement because of potential leak, causing a fire.

Car was pdi and delivered on 06/14/20 with an open recall 20la01 that was likely to be a life-threatning issue. Even after pdi was performed, the breaks were disfunctional, so had to take the vehicle for service on 06/19/20. Lexus found that rotors required resurfacing to fix the breaks and at the same time completed the open recall 20la01. However on 07/03/20, the car stalled in the middle of a highway traffic putting the pax thru a life-threatning situation. Car has been finally towed to the service and I am verbally promised that the car has been fixed to not present any life threatning issues. Since it is just 15 days of purchase and vehicle been into the service review for 3 times with some life-threatning open issues, I am requesting Lexus to either refund or provide me a replacement.

When initially entering my VIN: 2t2bk1ba9fc321902 , results came up as a 2015 RX 330 which is incorrect. Mine is an RX 350. This left me unsure whether or not the information which followed was correct????.

The cfei (certified fire & explosion investigator) fire lieutenant/investigator with the city of ft. Lauderdale's fire dept, who also responded to my 911 call, had pointed out and explained to me the intensity of flame, heat and burn pattern in the engine and stated that this was caused by a mechanical engine malfunction. What happened: I had just driven my 2012 Lexus Rx350 a short distance on the highway when I pulled into a 7-11 parking lot not far from the gas pumps and put the car in park. With the engine still running, I opened my drivers side window to talk to a friend when I immediately smelled something burning. I filed a report with Lexus the very next day and received a letter 3 weeks later. Their last paragraph says "we understand that you reported this to geico as well. If their investigation has revealed any evidence of product liability, we will gladly review that information. " I called out to him as he was walking from his vehicle towards my car and yelled out to him that something smelled like it was burning. � he then told me to release the hood because he noticed smoke coming from the engine. He slightly raised the hood, saw a flame, slammed the hood shut, then he yelled out to me "get out of the car now your engine is on fire". � I jumped out, called 911, then started taking photos with my phone while watching as my vehicle became engulfed in flames and smoke. � first I heard the tires blow out then I heard the windshield blow out. My friend saw the flames when he lifted the hood and said he observed that the fire was burning in the center of the motor at the fuel manifold. The fire dept arrived about 5-7 minutes later and proceeded to try to put out the fire. � the car is a total loss!.

Water pump noise.

When stepping on the gas petal one of three things happen. 1. Normal acceleration which you expect after 60 years of driving and which we obtain from a 2014 Lexus Rx350 that we own. 2. Hesitation of between 1 and 5 seconds before acceleration begins. 3 excessive acceleration ( surg of acceleration much more than expected). This excess acceleration may happen after the hesitation or there could be "normal" acceleration after the hesitation and happens when accelerating after being stopped. . The hesitation and excess acceleration can be from a stopped position ie stop sign or traffic light or while moving and normal speeds. There seems to be a consistent hesitation at the 60 to 65 mph when attempting to accelerate on highway. At 70 mph everything seems to work as expected. The surging and hesitating seems to be at lower speeds and and when making turns in city streets and moving up or down hills and in parking lots when moving out of parking spaces, but it happens at all speeds up to 65 mph. The cars has accelerated with out depressing the accelerator - this could have been a delayed acceleration after pressing the accelerator a half block before. This happened with a Lexus representative was in the car with me - I was driving so he could not tell if that actually happened or if I accelerated. Starting in early 2019 we have told Lexus when the car was serviced( twice yearly that the car behaved in this manner. Each time that have told us they did not re-create the described behavior and the car was performing as designed.

The vehicle experiences a dangerous acceleration delay at certain speeds. This is not a minor delay, but one that is large enough to cause an accident. When pulling onto an interstate ramp or passing another vehicle, this problem becomes a huge safety concern. You never really know when it will happen, so there is no confidence in the reaction of the vehicle. I currently have 2000 miles on this and it has been a problem since day one. It seems to be getting worse.

From the first week I purchased this new 2017 Lexus Rx350, I noticed that rapid acceleration is not possible. There is a momentary hesitation after deeply and rapidly depressing the accelerator. This is mostly noticed when aggressively pulling into a traffic lane say, from a side street or parking lot, or when attempting to pass another vehicle. When the accelerator is rapidly pressed to the floor, the rpm's nearly red-lines but the vehicle doesn't accelerate for nearly a second, which seems a dangerously long time when you're in traffic. This is not only aggravating, seeing I paid so much for what is advertised as and supposed to be a highly rated car but is dangerous this car can not accelerate as rapidly as it should. I made the dealer aware of the problem and he said it is a known issue with some of the cars and it is fixable but can't until it is approved by some government agency. The car is less than 6 months old with less than 6,000 miles and I feel it is not safe and don't want it anymore unless it can be fixed very soon.

Takata recall. Started car in the morning drove it to work didn't smell anything it was about 34miles all highway. Parked the car ( the car was not in motion at the time)went out in 15 min and the whole front end was on fire. Called fire department by the time they got here it was to late. This was on private property con edison of new york. The car only had 32,000 mile and was only maintained by Lexus all servive records they have now its going to cost me 18,0000 for upgrade or another car when this car was in mint condition don't have any repair records they were stored in the car. Lexus has all the car records. The car went in December for state inspection and oil change nothing was brought to our attention.

When accelerating hear a loud groaning noise and feel a hesitation in the gas accelerator pedal. Have brought to the dealer 3 times, as it seems to be getting worse. Dealer acknowledges their is an issue, but says will not fix because their is no recall. They said will notify us if/when Lexus has a remedy. Apparently this is happening on 2016 & 2017 models. I am worried that my car is just going to lose power when accelerating as it seems to be getting worse and louder groaning noise. This happens first thing in the morning when the car is cold and accelerating between 0 to 20 mph.

Purchased new car March, 2017. Faulty acceleration occurs from start to 40mph. This happens on side streets and interstates. Does not matter where you are driving. Rain or shine, this is a daily occurance. Went to Lexus in charlotte, n. C. For the 5th time regarding this problem. My 10,000 mile inspection was due and they said that it is a software problem and not sure when it will be fixed. Did not offer any other suggestions. I started to see Lexus regarding this problem after 1 month of owning car. Worried about my safety and my passengers regarding this issue with the acceleration. Lack of response from Lexus is very disappointing especially the amount of money I spent on my car.

Acceleration from stop is bumpy and sometimes cuts out while turning on a city street.

Faulty acceleration occurs when taking off from a stop. Around 2. 5 rpm, a loud grinding noise occurs as well as a stall / lag in the acceleration of vehicle. Dangerous when accelerating from a stop light and pulling into intersection, vehicle stalls and then sometimes surges forward. Complained to dealer since day 1 of purchase. It seems to be getting worse and worse. I have continually been told that Lexus has not developed a solution as of yet. So no solution. . . . This is a $60k vehicle and it is very dangerous when traveling between 0 and 35ish.

The failure mileage was 3000. Jft.
