4 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 07/25/2020

On a recent 2500 mile trip on 3 separate occasions while on interstate hiways and passing a vehicle the emergency braking system engaged automatically with warning lights and buzzers going off. This occurred with no other vehicles anywhere around for a quarter mile or more. On one occasion it occurred while driving in the right lane and with no vehicles in sight. Lexus special tech inspected the vehicle and had some calibrations performed but they will not tell me what they found in data captured by the vehicle computer or what actions they took and why they think the vehicle is safe to drive.

6 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 07/03/2020

Car was pdi and delivered on 06/14/20 with an open recall 20la01 that was likely to be a life-threatning issue. Even after pdi was performed, the breaks were disfunctional, so had to take the vehicle for service on 06/19/20. Lexus found that rotors required resurfacing to fix the breaks and at the same time completed the open recall 20la01. However on 07/03/20, the car stalled in the middle of a highway traffic putting the pax thru a life-threatning situation. Car has been finally towed to the service and I am verbally promised that the car has been fixed to not present any life threatning issues. Since it is just 15 days of purchase and vehicle been into the service review for 3 times with some life-threatning open issues, I am requesting Lexus to either refund or provide me a replacement.

7 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 04/15/2020

On April 15 2020, was entering a parking space in front of a sprouts supermarket at 12500 westheimer rd. , houston, texas 77077. The Lexus Rx350 (2018) failed to stop and crashed into a large building support column which did serious damage to the Lexus and to the column. This is an expensive car and came equipped with the emergency crash system. This feature did not work to stop the car from hitting the building. In the past it has stopped the car but only most often it does not work. . . No one was injured nor were any people on the parking area affected.

10 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 05/30/2019

My farm is 1/2 mile off weld county road 16 in keenesburg colorado. There is a gravel drive around the house to a short concrete driveway in front of the garage. When we drive onto the concrete portion, we are angled north east toward the garage door and have to back up a short distance to head the car east to enter the garage. We drive very slow through the yard as we have animals to watch out for and make a slow entry towards the concrete driveway. As she turned around the house toward the driveway the car seemed to be going faster than normal and she took her foot off the accelerator and eased on the brake but the car did not slow and she felt the accelerator was pulling her forward faster than she wanted. The brake pedal did not slow the car. The car angled across the concrete driveway, narrowly missing the corner of the garage and struck a tree on the north side of the house. The impact did not deploy the air bag and my wife had no injury. Her seat belt was fastened until she shut the car off and exited the car. I notified usaa my insurer and later spoke to several mechanics about repairs and the problem my wife encountered just prior to the accident. One mechanic told me of a report of a situation much like this and said to call Lexus and see if there had been a recall on this make of automobile. I called a Lexus dealer in firestone colorado. I gave the VIN number to him and he said his records showed this model year had been recalled for a problem with the accelerator but no records showed repairs were made. I told him I purchased this 2010 model car in 2016 as a used car and had no way of knowing if there had been a recall. I have not taken the car to be repaired but an adjuster did make a report yesterday (Thursday June 6). I have no results but the adjuster said the damage was extensive and he was a bit surprised the airbag did not deploy.

11 Service Brakes problem of the 2016 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 02/25/2019

We took a car for lease from Lexus. The first week, we realized the brakes weren't working well. We took the car to the shop and they said nothing was wrong. Then, a couple of months later it happened again and they said the same thing. Last week, after 2 years, I was driving and so was my daughter ( two different times ) and we couldn't break the car. The car drove right past the intersection on a red light. Thank god there was no pedestrians or vehicles at that second. We brought it to alexus and they tested the brakes and saw a problem with the brakes. The pressure was low and the metal was scraping. They asked for a large sum and said we never complained before.

12 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 02/15/2019

Pulled into hotel parking lot at 11:05am (perfect weather - parking lot empty) and ,after turning into the parking spot at a slow speed, the car suddenly accelerated and hit the side of the hotel. The building wasn't damaged, but the car had serious frontal damage. The hotel manager didn't call the police so there isn't a police report. The air bags did not go off. I feel there were several possible Lexus problems with this incident: the air bags did not go off even though there was over $17,000 in repairs (even the engine had to be removed),; the automatic braking system didn't engage; and the sudden acceleration of the car from a slow entry into the parking space. Currently the car is at a Lexus dealer waiting for the Lexus hired inspector to examine it. We have pictures and a complete list of repairs if requested. W e do not have a report yet from the Lexus inspection because it hasn't been inspected yet.

13 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 02/05/2019

Sometimes when I try to start the car, the brake pedal will not depress, I get a message that says “brake power low”, and the car won’t start. There is a recall on 2017 rxs for an improperly installed brake booster, but it doesn’t cover this VIN. From reading about similar complaints from other RX owners that are able to solve the problem by replacing the brake booster, I think that is the problem. Because of that, I think the recall does not cover all vehicles affected and should be expanded.

14 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 01/26/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2010 Lexus Rx350. While the contact's spouse was pulling into a parking space at 5 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle accelerated. The engine revved and the contact drove over a snow mound before crashing into a wall. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to bergstrom Lexus of appleton (3060 n victory ln, appleton, WI 54913, (920) 471-1895) where a third party specialist was sent to examine the vehicle. The findings would be reported to the contact at a later date. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact stated that the crash was in relation to NHTSA campaign number: 12v3005000 (vehicle speed control). The failure mileage was 115,000.

16 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 10/27/2018

The pre-collision system was unexpectedly activated for no apparent reason. Travelling on the interstate in light traffic on a clear, sunny afternoon, the car brakes suddenly activated, seat belts clinched with no warning sound. This has happened twice in the last year (coincidentally, it occurred at the same area on the interstate). The car was taken, both times, after the incident for inspection at the dealer. The service department was not able to replicate the issue or find any problems. For me, this is a serious safety concern. Sudden unexpected severe braking could result in a major rear-end collision.

Both wheels are not stopping at the same time. The car has a slight jump forward when you expect to be totally stopped. The car has new front and back brakes.

19 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 05/17/2018

The transmission on this vehicle is bad! the dealer keeps saying it's normal in the learning phase, but there is no way all of this sputtering and hesitation is normal for any vehicle, let alone a luxury one. The tachometer jumps, jerks and sputters as well if you watch it. The pre-collision break system is also severely flawed. It has braked so hard that it screetched and no one was even around me!!!!! this clearly almost gave me a heart attack three times now. It has happened twice when slowly backing out of a parking spot, and one time while driving down the street at a normal rate of speed and no one was around me at all.

20 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 04/28/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2017 Lexus Rx350. While driving 140 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to stop the vehicle. In addition, the pre-collision warning indicator illuminated. As a result, the contact rear ended another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to service king collision repair of katy (21333 katy fwy, katy, TX 77450, (281) 675-8000) where the body damage was repaired. The vehicle was also taken to westside Lexus (12000 katy fwy, houston, TX 77079, (281) 558-3030) where the contact was informed that the vehicle did not have a failure and the crash was his fault. 23 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 11/17/2017

I purchased the new car in September 2017. On November 17, 2017, at approximately 1,500 miles, after the car was sitting in the garage for 2 days, it would not start--the message on the console stated "brake power low stop in a safe place. " the car was towed to the dealer where the brake power booster was replaced. On February 3, 2018, at approximately, 2,893 miles the same event occurred after the car sat in the garage for two days and the car was towed to the dealer again. The service consultant stated "there seems to be an issue with pressure in the brake system". The service consultant stated Lexus is aware of the issue, but a fix has not been found. The consultant stated the workaround is to depress the brake pedal as hard as you can, wait for the ignition key symbol to show on the console and then press the ignition key. On February 16, 2018, I received a text from the dealership that there was a software upgrade out for the low brake pressure. I returned the car to the dealer. On 2/21/2018, I received a text from the dealer stating the car is ready for pickup. The workorder simply stated "technician performed TSB# l-sb-0004-18". The service consultant would not explain what the TSB was fixing or how it remedied the problem. I contacted Lexus customer service and they said the TSB upgraded the meter control logic unit. Ongoing problem: if the car sits for more than 1 day, the brake pedal must be depressed with much force before the car is able to start. This indicates the brake booster is still losing pressure. Concern: if the brake booster loses pressure while sitting in the garage for more than a day, will it fail on the highway while driving. Losing brake pressure is not a good thing under any circumstances, and is totally unexpected on a "luxury" SUV. Please investigate this Lexus brake power issue. Thank you.

24 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 11/08/2017

As I was trying to park my vehicle, it accelerated and hit a building then went backwards. I managed to keep the car from reversing into the street but the brakes did not work and car did not slow down. It hit the building a second time. I put the car in park and it stopped. None of the airbags inflated and the car was totaled. Toyota took no blame for the accident and I'm left without a vehicle. This car is in a group of recalled cars, Lexus does not have records of ever recalling this truck.

25 Service Brakes problem of the 2016 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 11/06/2017

Was making a left turn on to a bridge, the car pulled the right a little, I pulled to the left a little to straightened it back up applying the brakes, the car would not stop. There was a line of cars at the red light, I continued applying the brakes, the car would not stop and was picking up speed. I pulled to the left to avoid all the cars. Car still would not stop inspite of pressing my foot hard on the brake. The car continued moving went across a large street, still turning the car to the left to avoid other cars. The car went on to a gas station lot. I continued turning to avoid the gas pumps, still my foot on the brake. The car kept going and stopped when it hit a pole on the gas station lot. The air bags never deployed. The brakes would not work. The car went out of control.

26 Service Brakes problem of the 2008 Lexus RX350

27 Service Brakes problem of the 2009 Lexus RX350

Takata recall - my air bag never deployed on impact. As I was braking to park outside my garage door, the car suddenly accelerated extremely fast. My Lexus went through the garage door and I was braking but my SUV didn't stop until it hit things in the garage that stopped me. I even plowed into a piece of equipment that went out the back wall of the garage.

28 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 09/24/2017

In order to start the car, the brake must be pressed. However, if the car sits without use for several days, the brake pedal cannot be pressed down and the car will not start. A warning light indicates that "brake power is low, stop in a safe place". Attached is a picture of the warning light. The car can generally be subsequently started by either waiting several minutes or exerting a lot of pressure on the brake pedal, and the warning light disappears. I've had many conversations with Lexus service and Lexus corporate office. They've said that this condition exists with "every 2016-2018 RX 350" and is not unique to my car. They've also said this condition cannot be repaired, despite the fact that the warning light indicates it is dangerous to drive the car. Lexus confirmed that despite the fact the condition occurs after the car has sat for a period of time, it is not a battery issue and likely occurs because of pressure lost in the brake system. Although I question Lexus' statements that this condition exists with every car, it is disconcerting that they cannot or will not fix a condition that may be dangerous to continue driving, as indicated by the car's warning light. This condition occurs regularly.

29 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 07/11/2017

July 11th 2017 at around 220pm pst, the Lexus Rx350 2012, experience a very dangerous failure. Earlier that week I noticed issue with the battery, where it would take one or more pushes to the start button for the car to turn on. But on this date, I had just parked the car on a road with an slight incline, I did not enable the emergency break the car was turned off and the keys with me. I had dropped off a friend and helped her take a few things inside the house. After returning to the car, I tried multiple attempts to turn on the car (3 or 4) and on the last attempt the car roll down the hill instead of turning on . I was un-able to apply the breaks and in a state of shock did not apply the emergency break. The car roll across a road, down a bank and came inches to hitting a home. After the car was towed up the bank it was found the car was in good shape but the battery was dead. I was in a state of shock and my entire body tensed and I was suffering from a severe headache. We called in the California highway patrol 1722 east main street el cal jon 92021 date: 7/11/17 - 14:40 ncic number: 9680 officer id number 21588 there after we called contacted Lexus to determine if all recall service had been applied, which they answered your car does not apply to an earlier recall . Was referring to the following recall. Based on the name seem quite applicable February 12, 2014 NHTSA campaign number: 14v054000 brake actuator assembly may disable esc and abs I requested for a independent evaluation, but they told me (Lexus)would not pay for it if their were issues and I must take it to a Lexus service department. I complied and we took the car (it was towed over). They held the car for five days and concluded the car had a bad battery. They state the car was in neutral when it was parked. We are fearful of another accident result in greater damage and harm.
