3 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2003 Lincoln Aviator

Failure Date: 05/16/2012

Tlthe contact owns a 2003 Lincoln Aviator. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the front driver and passenger side air bags unexpectedly deployed without impact to the vehicle. The contact and a passenger seated in the front passenger seat sustained minor injuries to the head and neck. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where the vehicle was currently being diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 168,000.

4 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2003 Lincoln Aviator

Failure Date: 07/31/2010

While driving down the freeway in our 2003 Lincoln Aviator, the two side curtain airbags deployed. The vehicle was brought to the nearest dealer and there was no visible damage to the front, sides, or rear of the vehicle that would explain the airbag deploying for no reason.

Failure Date: 02/24/2010

The contact owns a 2004 Lincoln Aviator. The contact stated as she was reversing, miles per hour was unknown ,the driver side air bag deployed. It continued to rupture as she put the gear shift in park and jumped out of the vehicle. No one was injured. The vehicle was driven to the dealer after the air bags were taped. They inform her it will cost $1000 to repair the damage. The Ford manufacturer was called and stated they will give an answer within the next 15 days on their decision regarding the repairs. The vehicle was still at the dealership at the time of the complaint. There was only routine maintenance performed on the vehicle but no repair done on the air bags. The failure mileage was 70,000.

6 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2004 Lincoln Aviator

Failure Date: 08/14/2007

The contact owns a 2004 Lincoln Aviator. The driver side air bag deployed right before backing out of a parking space. The contact's son sustained injuries to his hand and legs. The vehicle was taken to south point Lincoln Mercury. The dealer stated that the air bag deployed due to a previous front end crash several years earlier.
