This car has had eight incidents in two years of coil packs failing. I have had multiple other problems with this car, ie (brakes, air conditioning electronics. . . )

We own a 2001 Lincoln Ls - v8. The engine has a coil on each spark plug. The coils are failing at the rate of one a month. When the coils fail the engine misfires and you have to fight with the car to keep it under control as it lurches on the highway. It is really severe in an uphill failure. I have never owned a car with coil failure. The mechanic tells me (and has coil parts to prove it) that this is a severe Ford problem. I called Ford and they deny any safety issue or wrong doing. I know it is a safety issue and the coils are failing before the recommended spark plug change period!! Ford needs to step up and replace these parts. They are defective and put the driver in an unsafe driving condition.
(1) vehicle emissions system indicator light appeared on display
(2) vehicle hesitates (jerks slightly) at speeds up to 60 mph, cars also kills randomly while the car is in motion
(3) I have not done any repairs yet ( I have been searching for recall information) I have viewed many forums online on defective coil packs on these vehicles.

My car was sluggish and losing power upon taking it in for servicing I had five of eight coil on plugs replaced by dealership, not more than one week after my car started the same symptoms and had an clicking noise in the engine. I was told buy the dealership that their diagnostic equipment was giving them false reading, one saying that the car was alright, and the other saying that it wasn't. They couldn't do anything for me. Please contact me with an answer on what I can do.

While driving the vehicle at any speed, the engine misfired and stalled when the vehicle reached a temperature. The problem was due to a faulty coil pack. The dealer had replaced the coil pack on six different occasions. Consumer will send original bill for repairs. 10/17/02 three coil packs were replaced (#'s 2-6-7) due to the engine missing, 3/19/03 the coil pack #3 due to missing, 10/09/03 the transmission valve body was replaced along with the fluid filter, and on 4/8/04 two coil packs #'s 1 and 4 were replaced due to engine missing.
When turning on signal light and hazard flashing warning light vehicle would shut down without warning. Dealer was aware of the problem. Mechanic could not duplicate the problem.
The car has shut down at highway speeds. No known cause. Have taken it to the dealership where purchased - could not duplicate, and could not find a cause. It has now happened twice at high speeds. No resolution has been provided.
Consumer states that the ignition key is extremely hot when taking it out after driving for 1-2 hours.
While driving vehicle will completely shutdown without warning, cause unknown. Please give any further details.
