Vehicle Speed Control Problems of Lincoln Mark

The truck's transmission shutters, so the whole truck vibrates. This is a huge safety issue. It causes the truck to slow down and overdrive does not kick in. So you have to slow down and force the truck to shift. This is a 5. 4 triton motor. I did change the plugs and coil packs. This job is not cheap. If you look at the Ford forums I am one of thousands. If you shut the over drive off problem is fixed but you can't drive over 55 without toasting the motor and using a huge amount of fuel. It appears this happens very frequently. I picked up my truck from dealership for recall and warrenty issues. Drove an hour and a half, parked my car. Returned home that hour and a half, came to a complete stop at a traffic light,close to home. While I was stopped the truck accellerated, now with both feet on the brake, I still hit the car ahead of me. Fortunetly due to my quick reaction, the damage was only to my bumper. None to the other car. I called the dealership and asked them if when they had the dashboard all appart for 2 days, could they have done something? of course they said no. They told me that my foot was probally on both the accellerator and brake at the same time? I looked at it and they are not that close together. Also I was already at a complete stop when it happend. I am to scared to get close to any car now. I have only drove the car as needed, for fear it might happen again. It's been 2 days now, it has not happend again. Yet. I have been with this truck since it was new, this never happend before.

Racing flare-up rpm's and acceleration upon braking intermittingly. Truck accelerates at any time at a high speed supposedly cannot be duplicated upon testing at dealership. Ford denied until TSB was found at the Ford corporation dated June 2008. Upon 2nd visit to mechanic performed rpm flare-up fix on truck to this TSB. Truck still has the same problem since 2008 mechanic still cannot duplicate. Cannot get resolution problem very dangerous to pedestians and ourselves. Unable to drive unless we have to use this vehicle - retirement car ?.
