general problems of the 2013 Lincoln MKS - part 2

The power steering goes in and out making it impossible to control when it happens. Very difficult to turn the wheel, issue # 2 temperature control goes from set temperature to full heat unassisted. You cannot turn the high temperature setting off. It is unbearable to drive in car with heat on full blast. Both of these issues can happen in motion or when stopped.

Every recall associated with the 2013 Lincoln Mks I have wrong with my vehicles. But when I call to have it serviced they tell me my VIN number is not included in any recalls, but yet my vehicle has all the recall problems.

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Lincoln Mks. The contact stated that while driving at 75 mph, the steering wheel ceased upon passing a semi truck and the steering wheel independently went into the off position. Due to the failure, the contact pushed the push start button since he assumed that the vehicle shutoff due to the failure. The contact had to use excessive force to steer the vehicle off to the side of the road. Once the vehicle was placed into park, the power steering fault warning message appeared on the instrument panel. The contact inspected the vehicle and found no issues upon inspecting the engine. Upon further investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA campaign number: 15v340000 (steering) which he linked to the failure. The contact left the vehicle on the side of the highway. The contact initially called david mcdavid plano Lincoln (3333 w plano pkwy, plano, TX 75075) where they acknowledge the recall and stated that they would repair the vehicle free of charge. The call dropped and upon calling the dealer back, the contact was transferred to randall reed's prestige Ford (3601 s shiloh rd, garland, TX 75041) where he was informed that there were no recall on the vehicle. The contact was then given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 104,229.

Certain Lincoln Mks 2013 have recalls on electric power steering and others do not. Unfortunately the one I own does not and my electric power steering has went out and saying power steering assist fault. I was on hwy 29 doing about 60 mph when all of a sudden the light comes on and my steering tightened on me.

I started the engine, I had no power steering, power steering fault lit up on the dash. Shut off car, restarted engine, power steering was restored. If this failure occurs while driving down the road, the car is near impossible to steer. I looked up recalls on this vehicle, there is one for cars produced 9 months before mine, but mine is not included in this recall. The symptoms are identical, I suspect this car should be subjected to the recall as well.

Car was parked when I started it up. I got a steering assist fault message. Guess it's a common problem with Ford's epas. They should be held accountable like takata because of the huge safety risk. According to Ford my VIN isn't part of the recall for the same model and year. Ridiculous.

Was parking car in driveway and when trying to back into space sterring wheel became extremely hard to maneuver.

Steering wheel makes a loud noise (squealing noise) while driving left or right very difficult to maneuver steering wheel.

I stopped to put gas in my car and when I finished I got back in my car and a warning light came on and it said electric power steering assist system shut down I could not steer my car than I got my manual out and it said shut car off for 10 seconds and I was able to steer again I'm just glad I was not driving.

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Lincoln Mks. While driving approximately 70 mph, the contact noticed grey smoke coming from the hood of the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the engine was on fire. The fire department extinguished the fire. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the failure was due to a fuel leak. In addition, while driving, the steering wheel seized without warning. The vehicle was taken back to an independent mechanic, but the cause of the failure was undetermined. The failure recurred. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to independent mechanic where they informed the contact that the body control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 84,000.

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Lincoln Mks. While driving unknown speeds, the steering wheel became extremely difficult to turn and the power steering fault warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to schumacher Lincoln of delray (2102 s federal hwy, delray beach, FL 33483, (561) 454-1800) where it was diagnosed that the power steering needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v340000 (steering). The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle should be included in the recall and it was extremely unsafe to drive. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that they would cover $1,800 of the repair cost. The failure mileage was 107,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Lincoln Mks. While driving 30 mph, the advanced service indicator illuminated and the steering wheel became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (tindol Ford, 1901 e. Franklin blvd, gastonia, nc 28054) where it was diagnosed that the power steering control module needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was not repaired due to a blockage to the power steering module. The vehicle was previously repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 15v340000 (steering). The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 161,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Lincoln Mks. On several occasions, while driving various speeds, the steering wheel locked without warning. The service advance track and power steering assist fault indicators illuminated. As a result, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. I was on my way home from a trip out of state when I was driving I can feel that it was something wrong with the steering wheel it was kind of stiff. As I continued to drive it got worse to the point to where it had a mind of its on and the light came on saying loss of power wheel steering. I then got off on an exit thinking I needed power steering fluid stop at an orileys store and bought some to come to the fact that my car doesn't take power steering fluid its electrical. I still had and hour to go before I made it to my one of my destination, it was a hard drive because then the steering wheel basically locked up.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the strep bearings needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 17,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Lincoln Mks. While driving 10 mph, the steering wheel lost power and made a growling noise at every turn. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the steering was erratic and that the power steering control (psc) module needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was repaired.
