2 Headlights problem of the 2011 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 12/18/2017

Left headlamp stopped working. Replaced headlamp and it will still not illuminate. Dealer said it was an electrical wiring issue into the ballast. Cost to repair is $2,200. 00. Lincoln concierge refused to assist. This is a safety issue because the oncoming drivers perceive the right headlight as being the left headlight in the dark causing them to veer into our lane. This is obviously a design flaw that has a serious safety concern.

3 Headlights problem of the 2010 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 11/07/2017

Driving at night headlights started to flicker and then went out. 1st left side then right side. Solder connecting headlight assembly to electrical wiring dissolved. Per Ford dealership the solder is dissolving because the electrical circuitry in the headlight assembly overheated causing the solder connection to fail. This happened three times. The first two time the dealership re-soldered the connection. The third time they had to replace the headlight assembly with a new er headlight assembly with updated internal circuitry from my conversation with the Ford dealership this had happen in the higher end models of the Lincolns that are a few years old. Why did I have to wait for it to happen three times before they told me it is an internal design defect of the headlight assembly. The cost of the replacement assembly for both sides is around $2,300. I got caught with this twice late at night, I originally thought it was the headlight bulbs. Fortunately, I was still relatively close to home, and not halfway into my 180 trip I was starting out on. This happened around 4 in the morning when I was driving on a rural highway without street lights. Not very pleasant driving without headlights.

4 Headlights problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 08/20/2015

Led adaptive headlights are said to move in coordination with the steering angle when headlights are activated but do not. Even when set to automatic mode, headlights will only illuminate in the direction in which the vehicle is pointing partially blinding drivers in the oncoming traffic. Additionally the manual states on vehicle startup we should see the lamps track to a "predetermined position" then center. Mine does not do this. I also made sure to drive above 5mph and turned my wheel for very sharp into shallow turns. The manual also shows a whole sub menu just for the adaptive lighting. I also do not have this menu. Lastly there is supposed to be a digital speedometer in addition to the analog speedometer in the settings menu, there is not one. The owners manual clearly states that in order to activate this feature you must go to settings menu under trip1 trip 2 and select the feature. Its not there and make looking down at the very tiny numbers on the analog speedometer difficult during driving and takes your attention away from the road.
