2 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 06/21/2023

Entering I-294 express ramp, vehicle was not accelerating beyond 40mph. Then as I entered highway it shut down completely. I coasted to the right shoulder. The dash displayed a "low oil pressure" alert. So I did not attempt to restart the car. When I had it towed home, I checked the oil level and it was full. Nothing like this happened before. The vehicle is almost 12 years old with 167,000 miles. Had this happened in traffic on the expy, I could have been creamed by other cars or a truck. I am going to the dealer today to investigate but this seems like an anomaly where the engine shuts down because the computer thinks there is a catastrophic failure that is not really happening.

3 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 03/12/2022

We saw something leaking onto our driveway from inside the garage a couple weeks ago. I verified it was leaking from underneath the engine area of my car but didn't think anything else about it. A week later I went somewhere and was gone about an hour and came back and parked in the garage. I came back into the garage maybe a half hour later and it smelled like gas. I looked and noticed it dripping under the engine area again. I took my car to a shop (qualtech automotive 620 in austin, TX) and they called me today and said there was a fuel leak. They think it is by the rollover valve. I have not seen any pictures of this. They stated the only way to fix it is to replace the entire fuel tank. $$$$ there were no check engine lights or any other warnings to notify me of this issue. If I had not parked it in a garage and smelled the fuel smell, I might not have known about this for a while possibly. My SUV has 94,067 miles on it and has not had any collisions or anything like that recently that could have caused this fuel leak.

4 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 06/20/2021

The fuel system was faulty on my 2008 Mkx, my life as well as my family life was almost loss due to the fact that my Mkx caught on fire. Everytime I would put gas in my truck when I got back in the cabin I always smell gas. One time when I was on my way to work I walked outside and smelled gas and when I looked under my truck I could see the gas leaking out at an alarming rate, I put a pan under it and went to work to tell them I need some time off cause if someone walk by my car smoking they would blow up, I got it fix and it was the fuel system and cost me 800 dollars and at that time the mileage was around 117000. Yesterday on fathers day I watch my Mkx burn to the ground and me and my family almost didnt make it out. Lincoln knew about this problem since 2013 and have done nothing about it, to this day there are innocence people driving these Mkx and their life is in danger just like my family life was put in danger and they knew about the problem NHTSA campaign number 14v68200 (fuel system, gasoline) since 2013 here it is 2021 and I almost loss my family and they knew since 2013, 9 years later and I had the same problem and at the same mileage as these other complaints.

5 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 10/12/2020

When you hit the gas pedal you lose all acceleration. You have to drift to a complete stop, turn the car off and then restart it. Have almost been hit multiple times and once on the highway traveling about 50 mph. Thankfully traffic was not heavy and I was able to get my car stopped and restarted before the possibility of someone running into us. There was no shoulder to pull off on because of construction. It was terrifying. It happens randomly and there is no warning as to when. A vehicle in this condition is not safe to drive and Lincoln seems to not know what the problem is so they send people home in their defective vehicles because as they say they can't get the problem to duplicate so they told me that there is nothing wrong with my car and sent me home now twice. Trust me there is something wrong with my car and many others and it is a huge safety hazard!!!.

6 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 06/03/2020

Car was in motion at 65mph on a 4 lane freeway traveling in lane 2 or 3. It made a loud thud and the wrench icon appeared on the dashboard. At the same time, the gas pedal no longer provided acceleration and the only thing I could do was coast to a stop, while maneuvering the vehicle to the shoulder. After stopping I restarted the car and it functioned perfectly fine. The wrench light was no longer illuminated. Two months later it happened again while in a forward motion on city streets. . . Made a loud thud, the wrench icon appeared. I was at the west side of a 4 lane intersection and barely had enough power to coast through the intersection and pull over on the east side. After shutting the car off, it started up fine again. I am afraid to drive it now.

10 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 01/02/2019

The car shuts off without warning when you are driving. It has happened 6 times in the last 3 months. The power steering shuts off and the car comes to a complete stop before you are able to try to restart the car. This is a very serious safety issue when this happens on a busy highway and you are in the fast lane or making a left turn across oncoming traffic. I took the car to a local dealer (jerry's Ford of leesburg va) and it is not showing any maintenance codes for the issue and they said there is nothing they can do. I spoke to Ford (case# cas-17221031-z4l4r3) and they said to drive the car until the issue happens again and have it towed back to the dealer as restarting the car will clear the maintenance code. I told Ford this was unacceptable due to this being a very serious safety issue and I didn't think it was a good idea to put someone's life at risk to trouble shoot the problem with the car. Ford has no other options at this time. From research I have done online I can see other people have had this same exact issue. Nhtsa id numbers 11047965 and 11055106 seem to be the same issue.

Failure Date: 11/28/2018

I was driving down 4 lane divided highway in florida and this time of year there are many citrus hauling semis on the road in fact three or four directly behind me during this occurrence. My vehicle was driving then suddenly without warning started to lose power. Engine was still running but vehicle would not respond while traffic barreling down on me during noon traffic. Finally able to make it into dealership where we were told this vehicle had no recalls and they didn't have time to check. This had happened roughly six times in last six months vehicle has only 42000 miles on it I am unsure of what the proximate cause was please help.

When I contacted Lincoln I was told that it was the responsibility of the ntsb to issue a recall. After two weeks pasted I called to see if the part came in and I was told, it was on back order and they didn't know how long it would take to come in and that they would call me once it arrived. 22 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 11/22/2016

Problems with the electronic throttle body (etb). When driving, there is an extreme, sudden and dangerous loss of power. At the same time, Ford's infamous "wrench warning light' for this problem comes on and the car enters into the 'limp home mode'. This is the same problem that Ford / Lincoln is having in which the NHTSA had opened an investigation in Feb. 2013 after thousands of Ford / Lincoln owners complained of the same issue I am currently having, then closed it after Ford agreed to 'fix 1,600,000 cars that "limped home"'. My research shows that Ford claims that customer satisfaction program 16b23 has been issued. However, when I contacted Lincoln hq, they stated that since NHTSA has closed this investigation, they are not willing to include my VIN with this reported problem. This problem is getting worse as well. It has happened 5 times now and every time, I have to pull off to the side of the road and shut the vehicle off. I called the Lincoln dealership where the vehicle was purchased and the service manager was well aware of the problem and stated that he fixes these 'all the time' at $160. 00 for the part, and $400. 00 for the labor. Please reopen the NHTSA investigation / case to include my VIN in this 'recall' or whatever Ford wants to call it.

23 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 08/30/2016

I was driving in the center lane on the brooklyn queens expressway traveling home from astoria, queens to my home in brooklyn. Having passed the atlantic avenue exit at approximately 3:15 pm and pressing on the gas pedal, the car lost acceleration and no matter how much I pressed the gas pedal the car could only go about 10 miles an hour. The bqe at this point has no shoulder to pull over in. By some saving grace, I was able to glide off at the hamilton avenue exit. The Lincoln tow arrived at approximately 5:30pm. The dealership¿s service closed at 5:30 so I was towed home. The next morning, Wednesday, August 31 I called Lincoln for a tow to the dealership (dana Ford, staten island) that leased the car to me. The Lincoln service manager, anthony fallacaro, assisted me. He explained it was the throttle body and motor which were defective and many consumers have had problems. My mileage at this point was 2307 miles, quite low for eight months of ownership. However, Ford/Lincoln has not issued a recall. Yet, they had to make necessary adjustments to the new part because installing the same part would continue to cause problems. I called Lincoln on Wednesday, August 31 2016 and spoke to melissa and formally logged a complaint (cas - 10455614-d7z7n8). I expressed that this should not have happened to a new car, I lost confidence in driving this car and am stuck with it for the remainder of the lease.

24 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 07/16/2016

Traveling down interstate @ 70 mph, when vehicle went to "coast mode" . Service warning light appeared on dash, followed quickly by engine service light. Absolutely no response to the gas pedal. Parked on side of road, when placed in drive the car would move in idle mode only. 5700 miles on 4 month old Mkx. Throttle body assembly was required to be replaced.

25 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 07/13/2016

In July 2016 I bought a new Lincoln Mkx with the 2. 7 eco engine. From day one I noticed fiberglass particles on the rear glass , after 300 miles it was so bad I had to wash it every day , it was also in side all over the interior. I had it on my face as well as my family. I contacted Lincoln and they denied using fiberglass on their vehicles. Lincoln told me to take it to my dealer and I did after several visits they discovered it was coming from the exhaust and contacted Lincoln . In the meantime I started coughing and had severe throat iratation. I started to call Lincoln customer service but after a period of time was told to stop calling. The dealer did not seem to get any where with this problem. Lincoln advised me to keep the windows up, I requested a loaner vehicle till the problem was resolved and was told no because the vehicle ran and was operational they could not do this. After 2800 miles and 3 months of owner ship I was forced to trade it in and take a $18,000. 00 dollars loss. I went to the va hospital and was told to stay away from the Mkx after exams because fiberglass will cause these coughing and iratitaon problems, symptoms I documented this on utube under - [ 2016 Lincoln Mkx problems. ] being a vet and on disability the loss was great . I do feel sorry for the others that are experiencing this problem this has got to be the biggest loss I ever had on an automobile.

26 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 07/13/2016

My wife lost all power while driving down highway on July 13 2016. She was able to pull over in traffic to avoid major accident from this loss of power. Was able to start car after a few minutes. Check engine light was on. She called and I instructed her to go Ford immediately. Met her there and they made this a priority. Throttle body replaced and back to us the next day. Mileage was only 5264 when this happened. We love this car. There should be a recall ASAP.

27 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 07/10/2016

2016 Lincoln Mkx has stalled numerous times. We left home and had driven about a mile in our subdivision when I slowed for and stopped at stop sign. The engine shuddered and shook, engine revolutions slowed down. Sped up, slowed down and engine quit. The message, "full accessory power active¿ displayed on the dash and my wife got a pad and pencil and copied it down for me. This was the second time that has happened and evidently was the same message displayed when the engine quit while we were on vacation in new orleans. Checked the internet and found several instances to this happening due to a computer glitch. Ford has known about this problem for some time. Do we have to get killed before Ford corrects their faulty computers? to make matters worse, I had scheduled and appointment with my dealer, drove 31 miles, only to find out the service department had no knowledge of my appointment. Spoke with the service manager on 21 July and he told me he would send me an email by the end of the week. Well the end of the week is here and I've not heard anything yet. It is my understanding that the Mkx is a glorified Ford edge and that the stalling problems were on-going for several years.

28 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 06/27/2016

Total loss of power when approaching traffic light, numerous attempts to restart, finally started, check engine light came on as well as hill assist light (on a complete level surface at time) very close call on getting hit at intersection, unsafe situation. Once able to restart car had very limited power, was able to get car to dealership approx 1 mile away, service advisor immediately knew it was a "throttle body issue" and the part is on back order, appears there have been numerous occurrences w/this exact same problem, this is a very very serious safety concern I was fortunate to be in a area where traffic was not as heavy (still almost hit) but if this happened on highway or busier intersection the outcome might not have been as favorable.

29 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 05/19/2016

May 19 2016 I experienced the inability to accelerate. Turned off the car and retried. I went about a half mile when it happened again. The service said it was the throttle body. After 27 days I got my car back. . While Lincoln was helpful, I do believe this should be a recall. If that had happened when I was pulling in to busy fast traffic, it could be deadly. I was on side street, also on highway pulling into traffic turning left.

30 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 03/15/2016

Vehicle purchased February 2016. On March 15, 2016 (1,065 miles), driving vehicle approaching an intersection on a busy street to make a left turn onto a major highway on-ramp, vehicle lost power while in motion and appeared to enter "accessory mode". Was able to bring vehicle to stop (in the middle of the intersection), put it in park and restart the vehicle. Brought it immediately to Lincoln service department. Service department had vehicle for two days and could not diagnose or replicate the problem. Gave the vehicle back to me without attempting any repairs. On may 14, 2016 (2,838 miles), driving at low speed on back roads, vehicle lost power again while in motion and entered accessory mode. Brought it immediately to Lincoln service department. The service department could not replicate the issue, but found a TSB that they thought would apply to the issue. The technicians reprogrammed the software in the power control module and gave the vehicle back to me. On June 25, 2016 (3. 663 miles), driving at low speed on a main road, vehicle lost power again while in motion and entered accessory mode. Brought it immediately to Lincoln service department. The service department kept the vehicle for two weeks to attempt to replicate the problem. After speaking with Lincoln corporate engineers, the technicians replaced the throttle body, assuming that that was where the issue was originating. Lincoln refused to replace the vehicle and insisted that the throttle body was at the bottom of the issue. As of October 28, 2016, the vehicle has not lost power again.
