Tl the contact owns a 2008 Lincoln Mkx. The contact stated he had a leaking fuel tank which was repaired under an unknown recall in 2015. The dealer brad manning Ford inc (901 s 4th st, dekalb, IL 60115 815-756-6325) claims to have replaced the gas tank at that time, however, the contact thinks they choose the cheapest option to just paint over the issue and thus the fuel tank leaks now right at the seams. The contact was now concerned for his safety because of the leak in his fuel tank. The manufacturer Lincoln referred the contact to Ford. The Ford representative stated that the warranty was expired and there was nothing they could do to help. An independent mechanic confirmed the diagnosis before the contact took the vehicle to the dealer. The replacement cost would be around $2,000. The failure mileage was 125,550.

Our car was identified as Ford/Lincoln safety recall 14s22 involving corrosion of the fuel tank. South hills Lincoln made a poor decision to treat tank with anti-corrosive in late September 2016 versus replace the fuel tank. Our fuel tank commenced leaking on 8/23 and is unsafe to drive. As dealer was paid by Ford in 2016 Ford has indicated that they are not going to pay dealer 2x for same recall. Work done is beyond 12 month warranty for recall repair. I have had to rent a car because my Mkx is unsafe to drive leaking fuel. Tank is $2,770 plus labor. As recall has no expiration date, Ford/south hills Lincoln need to fix safety problem. Help!.

The contact owns a 2007 Lincoln Mkx. While the vehicle was parked, a strong fuel odor was present and fuel was on the ground where the fuel tank was located. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank was leaking and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v682000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was previously taken to a dealer for the recall, but no remedy was performed. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was unknown.
I have a gas leak around my gas tank seal smell gas after every fill up and you can see gas on the tank when you look under car Ford says that there is no recall I had a Ford edge that did the same thing.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 Lincoln Mkx. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v384000 (air bags) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. The dealer (tuttle-click Ford Lincoln, 43 auto center dr, irvine, CA 92618, (949) 472-5200) did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was included in a manufacturer service campaign (14r02) for the fuel tank seam leaks (07-08 edge-mkx - non corrosion st-prov). The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Have been smelling fuel for a couple of weeks outside the car. Found what appears to be a fuel leak coming from fuel tank. Called Lincoln about the recall, they said it didn't affect my vehicle. I think it did, seeing how it has the same problem, and it's a salt/corrosion issue. I've lived in nebraska almost all my life, we use salt in the winter season. Regardless where it is built, I'm sure they are getting their parts from the same supplier. Lincoln is in the wrong, they should be taking care of the issue. This is a $2,000 repair that not everyone can afford to pay for. This is bs, and the last time I will buy a Lincoln/Ford product, if this is how they take care of their customers.
The contact owns a 2007 Lincoln Mkx. The contact stated that while parked, a strong odor of fuel emitted outside of the vehicle. Most recent, fuel leaked onto the ground continuously. The failure became progressively worse. The vehicle was inspected under NHTSA campaign number: 14v682000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the dealer failed to perform a repair or replace the defective fuel tank as mentioned in the recall. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the fuel tank seams were corroded which caused the fuel to leak. The manufacturer declined to repair the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. The VIN was unavailable.
The gas tank has corroded so I have gas leaking under my vehicle. The maintenance man told me I could not drive it due to danger of a spark and fire risk. The 2007 and 2008's have this same problem which are recalled so why aren't the 2009's as well. It is the same faulty gas tank.

Unable to pump gas normally. Tank spits fuel back out or shuts down pump and the smell of gas coming from the car after refueling at times when driving.
2/3/2015 I took my 2007 Lincoln Mkx in for gas tank recall. On November 25,2015 I picked my car up from the dealer. The dealer stated a new tank was installed. November 27th I filled my tank with gas and went approximately 15 miles before my car shut down while proceeding to stop at a red light. I turned the ignition and started the car and drove 1 mile further to my destination at a mall. My family exited the car and noticed a perfuse gas smell coming from the right side towards the rear. My husband looked under the car and noticed gas leaking. Either the recalled tank was not replaced by the dealer or the new tank is already leaking. The leak is coming from the seam of the fuel tank. While this is the short story it does not mention the all the damage occurred to my car by sitting for 10 months and being exposed to the harsh elements of the sun, rain, snow and the fact someone ran into it while in the dealers procession. My headlights are faded, paint faded, brakes squeal, dead battery and flat tires. Let's not forget it still leaks gas.
I purchased my 2007 Lincoln Mkx on 12/01/2014 on 12/13/2014 I filled my gas tank drove home I went inside for about 5 minutes when I came out to load my car for a trip I smelled a strong gas odor. Upon further inspection I found that my car had leaked gas all over my driveway. The leak was due to a recalled gas tank. Lincoln has since had my car. That was December this is March. I talked to Lincoln this month and they are telling me my car will not be fixed until October. That will be 10 months im paying for a product I cannot use.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Lincoln Mkx. The contact stated that she had taken the vehicle to the dealer for another service and the mechanic had noticed that there was a leak present around the fuel tanks seam. The mechanic stated that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and they informed the contact that the vehicle had not been included in any recalls. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000. Sw.
Vehicle is leaking fuel. Took it to the dealership for repair to find out due to a manufacturing error one of the welds rusted thus creating a hole in the top of the fuel tank. Was told this is a very common problem with this vehicle and its twin, the Ford edge. Was instructed that the repair cost would be 1800. 00 and although it is a common problem due to a manufacturing error, it is not under recall with Ford/Lincoln. We contacted Lincoln directly and they said they were aware of the problem but would not offer us any insight as to why this issue is not under recall or help with the repair costs if they agree it is a "common issue". Upon talking to other Ford edge and Lincoln Mkx owners online, this is a huge problem with these vehicles with 1000's of effected vehicles. This is an issue that is life threatening and could cause serious damage and bodily harm, if not death, if not corrected.
When the car was parked in the garage overnight, I would come out to the strong smell of gas, when I took it to my mechanic, he told me the tank was coming apart at a seam at the top. After searching the internet for similar problems, I found many situation like mine. This is an extremely dangerous and expensive problem that one never expects.
I smelled the strong smell of gas while the vehicle was parked. Took it to a Ford dealership and they found a leak in the fuel tank at the top of the tank. I was told the fuel tank would cost 1500. 00 and then 500. 00 for labor for a total of over 2000. 00. I feel like this should not have happened to a vehicle 7 years old. I have had many vehicles over the years and have never had a fuel tank leak this bad before. This is a serious safety issue.
My gas tank is leaking, Ford has been contacted and are unable to come up with a new gas tank. I am being told the earliest possible date to receive a tank (new or used) will be November 7, 2014 and that is no guarantee. The girl I spoke with at "Ford client services" mentioned that I should not be driving the car. I believe this problem is widespread due to the lack of availability of this part.
There is a gas leak in the tank of the car. Unfortunately there are no replacement tanks for this year and model.
Smelled fuel around vehicle about a week ago. After a couple days after smell started, fuel began to leak & drip onto ground. By next day I lost 1/2 tank of fuel onto the ground. Took to dealer they found seam on tank is corroded and leaking. Repair is $2000. Tank alone is $1500. If these tanks are this costly, they should last much longer than 6 - 7 years. This is an unsafe condition and overly costly. I am upset to find this is a common issue and is ignored by Ford as an issue. There is no reason for the cost to be so high on part unless Ford is controlling it. For just about any other vehicle, the typical cost for a tank is $100 to $500. There is no special design. It does not come with anything extra. No pump. No sensors. It is a bare tank. This should be looked into closely and fomoco held responsible and recalls should be sent on these very unsafe vehicles.
The contact owns a 2008 Lincoln Mkx. The contact smelled fuel inside the vehicle. While the vehicle was parked in the contact's garage, a fuel odor seeped into the residence. An independent mechanic found a leak in the bottom of the fuel tank. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 08v301000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 116,000.
Gas tank started leaking randomly at 80,000 miles. Vehicle has always been garage stored and maintained by the dealer. I have seen and heard of a lot of other people having the same issues with 07-10 Lincoln Mkx and Ford edge of the same year.
Strong smell of gas. Fuel tank is rotted on the seem. Ford says it is not covered.
I was goin down highway at 65, I smelled gas pulled over an gas was leaking on ground, took to Ford dealer, they said I neede a gas tank, I told them I had esp warranty, they fixed, but warranty said they would not pay , said rust was cause. Leak was at top of tank, not bottom where rust would be.
The takata recall is potentially life threatening and unfortunately Lincoln offers no solution to the customer and that is something that is not being taken seriously by the company . I have received letter after letter warning me that corrosion of the fuel tank is defective and directions to take the to a Lincoln dealer. I have been to the dealer over 3 times and everytime its a different excuse as to why nothing can be done. I smell gas fumes all the time and have seen visible rust on the fuel tank. I received letters saying I would be able to drive a temporary rental and as usual every rental is already out within 100 miles of me. I called Lincoln and asked if there are any near new york a metropolitan area and none what so ever can be found. So in ending I have a rolling death trap that can potentially ignite in flames or seriously injure if not kill anyone who sits in the passenger seat if I were to get into an accident. Please help however possible as this is a complete lack of attention from the company.

Could smell gas while parked and engine off. Had the car checked and found that the gas tank is leaking at the seam. There is no visible damage. The seam has failed.
The contact owns a 2007 Lincoln Mkx. The contact stated that while parked, she noticed a gasoline fuel odor. The contact inspected the vehicle and found fuel leaking from the fuel tank. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis where the technician stated that the fuel tank failed at the seam and would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 74,000.
The fuel system and tank leaked fuel in several places. The fuel line leaked fuel over the engine manifold. The fuel tank has a leak at the seam where upper and low tank halves joint. Both leaks presented a significant fire hazard. The fuel line leak was at the engine manifold. The fuel tank leak was next to the exhaust system.
Park my car after returning from work. A couple hours later my wife returned in her car and noticed the strong smell of gasoline in the garage. Upon further inspection, the weld seem on the gas tank has separated and leaking gas. There is a recall for this issue # 08s06 but the dealership has informed me that my manufacturing date does not match that of the recall. This to me seems suspicious.
The contact owns a 2012 Lincoln Mkx. The contact stated that when refueling the vehicle, the fuel tank could not be filled to capacity. There was no indication of a fuel leak or any issues with the fuel lines. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repairs. The manufacture was contacted and advised the contact that the issue was normal for the vehicle. There were no repairs made to the vehicle. The failure mileage was 600 and the current mileage was 1,500.
