Lincoln MKX owners have reported 2 problems related to side/rear glass (under the visibility category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Lincoln MKX based on all problems reported for the MKX.
The vehicle was in our garage with the door closed and the rear hatch window shattered. The window is completely shattered with two softball sized holes where the glass was blown out onto the garage floor. No one was in the car nor the garage when this happened and there were no items in the car that could have caused the damage. We have not moved the vehicle hoping Lincoln would care enough to come and see what has happened. They told us they would not send anyone to view the window. The concern is that this is a safety issue that could possibly injure a passenger. This report is provide evidence of our experience.

There were no extraneous variables leading to the rear window explosion. The police were not able to find any contact entry or evidence of vandalism and indicated it was possibly defective glass. Dealership indicated that they would not investigate the possiblity of previous stress cracks or design defects, although they admitted that this class of vehicle has severe internal pressure fluctuations while a rear passenger window is open traveling at highway speeds, and this was experienced the day before. The glass shattered while the car was parked, with the temperature being between 65 & 70f, with nobody in it. There were no prior issues with the glass. The only issue with the vehicle prior to the glass was the pressure fluctuations.
