Two problems related to transmission not go into gear have been reported for the 2013 Lincoln MKZ. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2013 Lincoln MKZ based on all problems reported for the 2013 MKZ.
While stationary after turning on the vehicle there is a hard shift in gears from park to drive. While vehicle is in motion on the city street there is a hard shift around 35 mph to 55 mph. While driving on the city street after 5 miles the vehicle start sputtering and not shifting gears properly then there isn't any acceleration from a traffic light stop and go. And then it picks back up and drive high rpm sound. Or high rev sounds. In addition the gas cap unit is faulty I replaced it before and now it appears it has to be replaced again because it won't close properly. A p0171 code maf sensor came up along with transmission codes for the 5th and 4th gear ratio according to the diagnostics reported from the ob reading and some additional codes that I can't even describe. For the most part the vehicle stalls while driving city and highway which makes it very dangerous to drive.
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Lincoln Mkz. The contact was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 15v250000 (steering) and 13v594000 (power train). The contact stated that while traveling approximately 30 mph upon leaving a stop sign on a rural road during poor weather conditions and upon decelerating, the wind shield wipers were going at a slow rate of speed when the function button was pressed for them to be on a high rate of speed. The windshield wipers function failed to work properly when activated with no warning. The brake pedal went to the floor repeatedly when applied and the contact had a sudden loss of power steering. The contact had to apply force to turn the steering wheel and the vehicle went straight. The vehicle was placed in neutral to try and reduce the speed because of the failure but it would not change gears and continued at a rate of 35 mph. The speedometer also failed to read properly when the failure was happening. The brake pedal also continued to go to the floor as the contact tried to slow the vehicle down to coast it over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who was not able to replicate and diagnose the failure. The failure was reported to the manufacturer and they were to provide a follow up response to determine if the vehicle could be further tested and diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.
