The brake light switch assembly failed. The car's brake light will not go off. Other drivers do not know if you are braking. The dealer can not fix it until next week, meanwhile, it is dangerous to drive. This brake switch assembly is under recall for 2014 Mkz and 2015 Mkz. It looks to be the same assembly on the 2016 Mkz. There was no warning. The brake lights come on while parked in the driveway and won't go off.

1) every used miz I test drove had a super hard jerk out of first gear including the one I purchased, I was told it was fine, went to another dealership and was told the transmission clutch was gone, repaired under warranty. 2) gas tank door spring failed, saw its a common problem with Ford Lincoln vehicles, dealer replaced entire door housing sleeve, not covered under warranty, had to be installed twice after coming out after incorrectly installed. 3) front headlights lens spider web cracking. When purchased I saw small stress cracks at top by hood 3 to 7 months later entire lens/globe housing look like shattered glass but still in tacted, not covered under warranty, now passenger light starting to look the same. Only had the car 13 months. Dealer service rep ask do I drive car alot or drive in the rain, I was shocked. 4) rear trunk tail light across entire back end full of moisture. Not covered under warranty. Every since 2007 this seem to be a common problem with every car I had to poor designed product that consumer have to pay for and shouldn't. It will cost thousands of dollars to replace.

Rear lift gate assembly center led strip is filled with water. This causes an electrical short condition that results in the reverse lights to be on at all times when driving. Vehicle will not pass MA inspection and has been cited for this infraction. No damage to lift gate, either a part or manufacturing defect.

In under 4 years/50k miles battery has been changed 4 times. Every time the cause is a bad battery and not a draw. There is an underlying issue with the Mkz electrical architecture. Dealer says this is a common problem.

I, as well as my mechanic, want to know why Lincoln gets out of taking care of their defective taillight issue on vehicles that have salvage titles? it would be one thing if the lights were damaged or destroyed in the accident - but if a car has been back on the road for years, yet meets the other criteria - why should I have to pay for taillights that went out at 60,000 miles? it's a safety issue. This isn't a window switch, it's something I can be ticketed for or can cause an accident. Please explain to me why this safety issue is optional for the Lincoln company. Mine has been out for a year, I lost my job due to health issues several years ago, have no money to deal with it - and you have made it so Lincoln doesn't have to. I have talked to them locally, their corporate number - and my mechanic had me contact the state patrol person who deals with dealers. Nobody cares.

Toned for a reported car fire, in the parking lot of shaw's supermarket, 625 meadow st. . E-6 responded with lights and siren to the scene. Upon arrival lpd capt. Tyler was on-scene directing fire to the effected vehicle. The driver was standing outside the vehicle, no smoke was showing. There appeared to be a burned area on the left side door rocker panel, front tip of the Lincoln illuminated rocker panel. The vehicle was parked at the time of the incident and the driver had just returned to the vehicle from shopping, when she opened the driver's side door and the compartment had smoke in it. The fuse boxes were checked and no fuses had been fused. The right side was checked for and heat and damage. The led Lincoln panel was removed and the wire ends were taped. It appeared that some moisture had made it's way through the gasket and migrated towards the power terminal of the led strip. Possible corrosion on the wire contacts could have been a contributing factor in this incident. I will be contacting the nhsta to leave an inquiry.

Chrome wheels did not use nickel undercoat and chrome peeled off causing air leaks and differential would moan from uneven tire pressure; bought 4 new after market wheels for $775 and solved problem. Front driving lights allowed water to penetrate from vent in wheel well causing to fill up with water and shorted out connectors. Covered vent holes. Rewired connector and water proofed the lighting assemblies but they are still very hazy from water damage. Dealer wanted $1,200 to replace them and said it is common. After market replacements cost $350 to $500 each; problem still not resolved and make an otherwise very pretty car look like cheep crap. Very nice car; stupid Ford problems.
