After getting an oil change and battery software update, I headed home. Before arriving home the warning light to service power steering and traction control came on. Returned to dealer, they said the power steering needed to be calibrated. Left and before making it home power steering stopped working and warning lights returned. Dealer has stated the power steering gear needs to be replaced but because the milage is 224,000 and the car is over 10 years old Ford will not extend the warranty and it will cost $2,500 to repair.

The electronic steering failed. A steering warning light came on and within 3-5 seconds the electronic steering failed completely. Fortunately I was only traveling at a low speed or would have likely been in an accident. Cost to repair was over $2000 and the car had 100,180 miles on it at the time of the failure.

Unknown - when I'm driving at a lower speed, I will feel a bounce back in the brake or gas pedal and will receive 4 different alerts on my dashboard (hill start unavailable, service auto trac and a couple others). Once this happens, I loose power steering and it becomes difficult to turn my wheel. At times, this will happen when I am reversing and caused my car to go into neutral on it's own. When I tried to go into reverse or drive, it wouldn't switch. The emergency brakes wouldn't come off when the tow truck man tried to tow it. The dealership stated it was a fuse and fixed that after paying the amount due, but it still continues to happen.

While traveling at approximately 22 mph I entered a roundabout when the steering wheel pulled out of my hand and the car was no longer turning, but going straight towards another car that was waiting to enter the roundabout. The car no longer had power steering but I was able to steer past the waiting vehicle and into a curb where I stopped the vehicle off the road. There was no warning prior to the incident, with the traction control warning light coming on at the same time the power steering stopped working. The vehicle has been diagnosed by a reputable independent shop with a faulty steering gear at a cost of approximately $2,200 to repair. This is the same problem that has been addressed by recall 15s18 for the 2012 Lincoln Mkz hybrid, but Ford/Lincoln has refused responsibility for this repair based on date of manufacture of this specific VIN.
Owner of 2016 Mkz hybrid 65870 miles loss of electronic power steering and advance trac soon after replacement of bolt under recall 19r02 I heard friction/grinding when turning steering wheel. Oct 1, 2021 I contacted parks Lincoln of tampa for a diagnostic and they told me the steering rack assembly would need to be replaced. On November 6,2021 I lost physical steering ability. I had my car towed to dealership, needed to replace the steering gear box assembly, 2 tie rods, and an alignment for $4156. I researched the NHTSA website and noted in July 2015 that 393,623 were impacted by recall 15v340, Ford no 15s18. No recalls have existed for same issue for Mkz vehicles built after 2012. This is a safety recall issue for driver and all vehicles in its path.
While making a right turn into walmart parking lot, car was suddenly very difficult to turn. We almost hit the car in the lane next to us. We had to back up into the main road and risked a collision there as well just to pull into the parking lot. Like the power steering went out. Just a mile before that turn we made a turn and had no issue. Highway driving is okay, it is just difficult to steer in low speed city driving conditions. I had a mechanic look at it. He could not find anything wrong so we flushed the power steering with fresh fluid. It did not seam to help. He concluded that the electric assist is probably what failed. We looked this up, and it is a common problem with this model year Mkz and a recall has been out for this. But, for some reason my car does not pull up this recall.

Intermittent power steering failures at low speeds - appears to be random. No warning lights or indicators of problem.

The contact owned a 2016 Lincoln Mkz. The contact stated while exiting her employers parking lot, when the vehicle began to accelerate independent and she started to smell a burning smell. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated she was depressing the brake pedal to the floor and pressed the park button but the vehicle continued to accelerate and move forward. The contact also stated the steering wheel seized, when she crashed into a wooden guard rail, a metal fence and chain link fence. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained injuries on the middle of the sternum and her right breast was bruised from the seat belt. The contact did seek medical attention for her swollen feet from depressing the brake pedal forcefully. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The insurance company deemed the vehicle a total loss. The vehicle was towed to a towing lot. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 21,000. The VIN was not available.
Steering stopped working when we were leaving the driveway.

The contact owns a 2012 Lincoln Mkz. The contact stated that upon start of the vehicle, the power steering assist fault warning message would intermittently appear on the instrument panel; the contact would restart the vehicle and resume normal driving. Recently, the contact stated that both the traction control and the power steering warning lights would illuminate upon start of the vehicle and would remain illuminated despite an engine restart. The contact also mention that excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle while driving at various speeds. The contact had then taken the vehicle to a dealer where he was informed that his vehicle was out of warranty and that his VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v340000 (steering). The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and was referred to NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
I turned on my car and received a message from in the information panel stating, " power steering assist fault". Its extremely hard to turn my steering wheel. I drive easy on my car and the roads are smooth in my commutes.
The electronic steering stopped working and the traction control system light came on at the same time. I was traveling at less than 5 miles per hour and ran into my garage damaging the right front of my car. Local dealer without seeing the car said cost would be around $1800 to fix steering and stabilitrak. This was a 2012 Lincoln Mkz hybrid.
Steering on vehicle went out in mid March 2020 due to recall on Lincoln Mkz. Vehicle has been back to dealer three times for an extended amount of time twice with no rental vehicle. Need to use this car to go out of town after the dealer informed me the car sits and waits for a response form Lincoln hotline most of the time. Need to use this car to go out of town licoln advised they would not extend me any time of rental or reimbursement for this issue which is a recall that can not be repaired correctly and has left me with out my vehicle for multiple weeks. Lincoln case # cas26765805. The supervisor from Lincoln called me said she really was not familiar with my case and then told me the car went in for recall in Jan and I had to correct her. She had no real facts and the employee was better than the supervisor because she told me sorry charlie to many times ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.
I was driving my car and all of a sudden my power steering goes out traction control and park hill assist all flash. This is the second time it has happened traveling 70 mph . I was able to get off of the road but had a difficult time turning the wheel as it felt like it was almost locked. Please advise. Thanks.
Started my car to let it warm up, when I returned and went to leave the driveway it flashed service stabilitrac and service power steering. Tried to drive it and had no power steering. There is a recall on many of this same car for the same reason but none for my VIN #.
Driving at highway speed in the middle lane during heavy rain. Suddenly the steering became almost rigid. Fortunately we were able to get to the side of the road without incident. The car had recently been recalled and repaired regarding the bolts on the power steering assist module. Obviously there remains an inherent design flaw in the steering assist function, disabling steering capability that could have proven fatal. The steering module has been replaced but we have lost confidence in the vehicle.

The first time it happened was while driving when my wheel locked up and I was unable to turn it at all. It happened again after gas at a gas station, I was stationary but the steering wheel still locked up.
My traction control and advanced traction control lights are on and I have no power steering. There was a previous recall on this and the dealer said not for my VIN number. My electric power steering isn't working.
While driving the car send a fault code of service power steering and loss of power steering happens immediately. Took the car to the dealership they said they fixed the issue (replaced power steering motor and reprogrammed). Picked up the car and within 16 hours as I was making a turn the same issue happened. The car is currently still at the dealership with no solution to the problem. There seems to be a recall out for 2011 Mkz for this reason but for some reason my car VIN doesn't pull up that recall.
Warning then after driving longer (70 miles) it would not steer. Had to go get it reset. The fluid was fine.
Power steering assist fault. This has happened twice now. First incident was September 29th 2018, second was today August 23rd 2019. There was a recall previously but isn't one for my VIN number. Vehicle first time was in motion on city street, second time was stationary in driveway of home.
Aug 2, my husband & I were approaching a 4-way light near our neighborhood. We were slowing down to turn right at the intersection. As we began the turn, the tires locked & our car slide left across lanes that resulted in a crash. Both airbags deployed. I was thrown into the windshield, despite my seat-belt, busting it. Then, my airbag deployed. It was like my husband had no control of the vehicle. Both airbags deployed. Tires were still locked when tow-truck arrived. Other car involved did not have this issue. We do not have a hybrid, but wonder if the steering recall that started with 2012 Mkz hybrids & others could involve additional models like ours (recall 15v340000). What we experienced was not normal.
I inform Lincoln motor company on my Lincoln has been recalled, which is happening right now to a record number of americans, but it's even worse when you know that your car has been recalled and can't get the manufacturer to service it at a dealership. When you're told that there are no parts or no technicians to fix your car, what do you do? I was told it's not that bad and didn't need to be replacing right now. Had my car in to be service on recall 18s08, that is when the dealership didn't put the lug nuts back on my car, and the wheel fell off the car causing damage to the front end of the car. The lugs nuts swell, crack and delaminate to the point special tools are needed to remove the lug nuts. Had 3 blowout due to the wheel frame was bent, and was replace during the damage the dealership done to the car. Picture was provided to Lincoln motor company. I was notified by Lincoln about NHTSA 14v-597, and of the date still not repaired. Takata airbag inflators that could explode violently despite containing a chemical meant to lessen the risk of the shrapnel-shooting ruptures. But Ford is looking to avoid another costly recall. Can't find the natsa# my Lincoln now under investigation for brake failure. A significant defect can make my car unsafe to drive. I've been having the idiot light come on with lightning bolt words check your brakes. The message I got was they were going to close the case# because they have no remedy for me. They discover my warranty on the car is running out and don't want to be bother with the problem.
Takata recall.
I was backing out of a parking stall and turned the steering wheel sharply to the left and heard a breaking sound. When I put the car in drive, it would not move even though the engine was still running. I found that the front wheels were both pointed inwards (pigeon-toed) a severe amount. A flat-bed truck was called to take the car to the Ford dealer for repairs. The report from the Ford dealer is that an outer tie-rod end had broken completely through in what would be characterized as a brittle fracture. According to the dealer, there was a bright clean break not typical of a fatigue failure or a ductile failure.

Tl the contact owns a 2014 Lincoln Mkz. After restarting the engine, the steering wheel became very difficult to turn in either direction. The messages service advance trac" and "steer assist fault were displayed. The cause of the failure was not determined. Ourisman Ford/Lincoln (6129 richmond hwy, alexandria, va) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 53,316.
When I read about the steering wheel bolt recall in June 2018 I checked the condition of my steering wheel bolt and discovered it was loose and was the bad design that was being recalled. I waited for a recall notice that never came and when I checked with dealer in December 2018 they informed me that my car was not on the recall list. I have purchased a new bolt and will install myself. However, I am still quite concerned that someone may still be at risk of injury. It appears to me that the original notification by Ford lists the production dates that include my vehicle. I personally observed the loose steering bolt on my vehicle and bad design. For some reason, not all of the affected vehicle owners are being informed of a problem . I purchased this vehicle in March of 2017.
Electrical steering rack not working , had to replace. Mkz 2014.
I was driving down ogeechee road in my city and the traffic was slowing down. So I began to slow down and the steering wheel went out. I ran I to the back of another vehicle because of the steering wheel.
