The vehicle was taken to a tire center, where they cut the lug nuts off. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was concerned that in the event of a blowout, the tire would not be able to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

The contact owns a 2014 Lincoln Mkz. The contact stated while having the front passenger’s side tire changed due to a flat, the lug nuts were difficult to remove. The contact stated that extra effort and energy was needed to remove the lug nuts to replace the tire. The dealer was contacted and stated that the failure was a known issue. The contact was informed that there was no recall on the VIN for the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was 78,000.

I went to the dealer for a tire rotation and could not do it because they said I had swollen lug nuts , they are not covered on my extended warranty.
