Power steering went without any warning has recall on other mkz of that year but not mine. I put it reverse and had no power steering lucky I was not driving when it went out.
Stationary, started,no power steering. Stated poer steering assist fault.
While driving the front tires abruptly pull left or right, regardless of steering wheel position (straight or turning), speed (25mph or 65mph), or road conditions (smooth or bumpy). Also, received random alerts to keep hands on the steering wheel when my hands had never left the steering wheel. The alerts stopped but the steering/wheel position issue remains.

Takata recall. My defective airbags have never been remedied. Offer of temporary rental car never done. Dealership sas they don't have any available to them. I can't drive car. What am I supposed to do? need help.
The problem is, every time they replaced the part the new part was no good either and broke back down taking out our power steering out time and time again and increasing the risk of accident like the recall letter to Ford and Lincoln dealers sent by michael berardi said it would. I have a copy. The response as can be seen enclosed revisited day one when we called Lincoln about the recall, and they told us it wasn't under recall. You don't know your own recall and your calling it a warranty. Part one of the recall reprograms the power steering control module if it is throwing a code. Section 2 then kicks in, and if in the next 100,000 miles the module goes wrong it gets replaced at your cost for parts, labor, etc. Yet, not only was I told no go pay for it myself the first time, now after the 6th breakdown and my plea for help they answer as cluelessly as the first. They are also addressing a recall as a warranty. Nor could you even fill in my vehicle type where that went when you had all the info it's a Lincoln Mkz Hybrid.
I currently have a rental car because of the "takata recall", but the main issue is the traction control function. The adjustments made when traction control is on, during periods of rain have almost cause 3 collisions I think of. Its not like a loss of power steering, but an overcompensation. It feels ready to hydroplane when ever there is heavy rain. I have also replaced all four wheels and it makes no difference.
Power steering assist control module causing vehicle to lose steering ability while in motion; producing high risk of accident. While turning vehicle steering gave out almost causing a accident luckily no other car was oncoming. Faulty design recalls on most Lincoln that year for same problem. The 2013 Mkz Hybrid needs to be added to the recall. This should be a high priority before there is a fatality. Feel free to call me (305)610-0640 or email at gamemasterwil@aol. Com. I'm am very concern and would like update on this issue. Thank you. Tsgt william gonzalez usaf 434th mxs/mxmw, grissom arb.

I have advancetrac service warning, hill assist and abs disabled and the steering wheel being heavier than normal plus the transmission slipping while acceleration and braking. The problem usually happens at wet or cold weather. It started once a day but now at least 50 times a day. Many times that happens when I start the car and turning the steering wheel but it also keep happening during driving. I went to the Lincoln dealer at franklin, tennessee and they kept the car for 3 days and after that they did nothing and took $140 for diagnosis!!!!!!!! they give me the car back and told we can't get the problem so keep driving and record your notes for the problem.
I have been informed that the entire steering assembly and the electronic steering must be replaced due to a failure of the steering motor sensor. This repair is estimated to cost $2100. Other 2012 Lincoln Mkz Hybrids were recalled for this same fault, NHTSA id 15v340000, but my car does not seem to be covered. It seems to me that my car has the same problem and whatever correction or running change they made to the production line did not adequately fix the issue. I was driving the car when a warning light (yellow wrench) came on. I stopped the car, checked the manual and could find no reference to this warning light. It did not reappear when I restarted the car and never came back on.
I purchased a used 2013 Lincoln Mkz Hybrid on Nov 28 2016. On Dec 1 2016 I was driving on I 20 in birmingham al and the vehicle stalled on the freeway after I had engaged in a panic stop and veered the vehicle to the right. My vehicle froze in a position with the left rear of the vehicle in the traffic lane and the right front of the vehicle on the emergency lane. The vehicle was blocking traffic. It locked up in such a way that I could not get it unlocked. There were several error messages displaying to the effect of active headlamps fault transmission fault several others that I cannot recall. The vehicle was disabled in such a way that I could not do anything to get relief. With the vehicle blocking a lane of traffic I could not get it out of the way. Several volunteers came to my aid and offered to push it off the road but I could not put the vehicle in neutral. I could not restart the vehicle. I could not put it in park. I tried everything. I could not find a manual override. I called for a tow truck. A policeman showed up. At this point it had been 45 minutes. I got out of the car, spoke to the policeman, and then got back in the car. Then suddenly everything was normal. It started as though nothing happened. I ignored the event until it happened again in my apartment parking lot on 1/15/17. I took it into the shop at carmax. They noted several hybrid codes. They sent it to a local Ford dealership, town and country Ford in bessemer alabama, and now 1 month later Ford has not been able to figure out the problem. Now I realize I should have reported this as a safety issue back in December since it stalled in traffic with no way to put the vehicle in neutral to safely move it out of the way. Of course this was a frightening experience.
This happened to me once before in April of 2015, don't remember the date. However also on Friday may 15th, 2015, I was backing my Lincoln mkz 2012 hybrid out of the church parking lot and the steering wheel wouldn't turn. I dashboard warning light said power steering not functioning or something similar. It happened once before in April, and at that time, I was also parked, started up the car and it wouldn't steer. I stopped the car, started it up again and that time it corrected itself. I read a report on the internet about 508 cases being reported and under investigation so I thought I would also submit a complaint. Lucky for me on Friday may 15th, 2015 I was across the street from a local independent car repair service station. They called hudson Ford in hudson, wisconsin and the service department there said it was under warranty and to bring it up to their service department. I called at the end of the day and they said that they couldn't replicate the problem and therefore couldn't fix it. The independent service station where it first ended up, did a computer diagnostic on it and said it was the steering board, or chip. I am afraid to drive the car in the event the power steering goes out when I am driving. It could cause a horrible crash!! I sent the article I found on this issue to the hudson Ford dealership's service manager's email, and then talked to her about the article. She said she'd read it. At this point they still have my car. I pray they fix it.
Loss of power steering in the vehicle - power steering assist fault, while driving the vehicle. Pulled the vehicle over and after 5 times of turning the vehicle off, and then restarting it, the alert would go away and the power steering would be active again. Has been an ongoing issue for the last 6 months, however it has been a daily issue for the last week.
While driving slowly (less than 30 mph), a chime sounded and two messages appeared on my dash-board, "power steering assist fault," and "service advancetrac. " simultaneously, power steering assist stopped working, requiring me to muscle the steering wheel around in order to maneuver out of harms way. In addition to the incident described above, the same thing (loss of power steering and those two messages) occurred several other times, at various speeds and conditions. I was always able to restore function by restarting the engine once or twice while parked.
While driving on two lane road approx. 50 mph, engine stopped, advance track light came on , lost steering and breaking, coasted to stop. Restarted and drove home. Carried to dealer , who replaced. Steering gear. Computer should show you warning but not shut vehicle down loosing breaking and steering. If there had been traffic or had been on busy road traveling int. Speed could have been life taking for my family and others on same road.
