The contact stated that while the vehicle was stopped, the contact smelled burning rubber and plastic as the vehicle began smoking from both the front driver and passenger side and caught fire. The fire department was not called and the contact extinguished the fire. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to bayway Lincoln 12333 gulf fwy, houston, TX 77034 where it was diagnosed that the fuel and brake lines had overheated and caught fire. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000. Np.

Failure Date: 11/01/2009

The contact owns a 2000 Lincoln Navigator. During brake application at 10 mph, the brake pedal fell to the floor-board. Consequently she crashed into another vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local repair facility, in which the mechanic attempted to make repairs. However, while in the shop the vehicle caught on fire while idling. The fire department extinguished the flames. The fire report states that fire was caused by brake booster failure. All the plastic components of the braking system and brake lines were destroyed. No repairs were made to the vehicle. The current and failure mileages were under 190,000. The VIN was not available.
