The foot rails outside the vehicle either don't go up or don't go down. Also, there are several times that the foot rail goes down, and as I step on it, it closes with my foot still on it. Causing me to fall or get my foot stuck between the rail and the car. Fortunately, I didn't get hurt the 4 times that it happened. There is no consistency as to when it happens or any type of warning. The vehicle is scheduled to go in for additional service, but I wanted to file this complaint as it's an extremely dangerous hazard for occupants. Started around the end of June.

The rearview camera does not always come on when the vehicle is put in reverse. It appears to be the same issue as the newer Lincoln Navigators and other fords for which a recall was just issued. The recall number for Ford is 25s49. The recall needs to include the 2017 Navigator as well. You can not see behind the vehicle when the camera malfunctions the vehicle has not been to the dealer for the issue yet when the camera does not work there is a error message.

The contact owns a 2015 Lincoln Navigator. The contact received notifications of NHTSA campaign numbers: 25v091000 (visibility). The contact became aware that the remedy the manufacturer has for the recall repair is to cut the led wire and disable it permanently. The contact does not agree with the remedy and wants the recall part repaired.

Recall number 25s08 for side mirror lighting, the disconnect remedy is unacceptable. These side lights provide safety measures for exiting and entering the vehicle. As older adults seeing the fold out step in the dark is necessary. If these lights are disconnected due to the recommended remedy from Ford then there is a fall hazard for owners who don't see well at night. The steps could be missed resulting in a fall. We request the lights be replaced or repaired not disconnected. Recall documents mailed from Ford/Lincoln to my address March and June 2025.
Back-up camera quit working about 3 months ago, 2025. There is a recall for the 2018 cameras but this is a 2017. Please include the 2017 year in the recall list. This issue poses a safety hazard when backing. Driver can not see what is behind the vehicle or if it is in a dangerous position. Since this is a SUV sized car the side mirrors are not adequate to safely see what is behind the car when backing. We have had a few close calls but no injuries yet.
The vehicle is hard shifting creating a forceful lunge which is followed by characteristics of the vehicle being in neutral (starts to slow down and revs when I try to continue on the road). I have been told the transmission on these vehicles (10 shift transmission) is part of a class action lawsuit. Ford customer service told me to contact NHTSA. It is very unsafe because when the car lunges and hard shifts, it slows my vehicle without my control which could cause an accident around me.
Back camera sometimes becomes blurry while driving reverse.

The driver side second row window is now going down all by itself and has happened 3 times in 5 days. I cant roll it up until I turn off the car and turn it back on.
Panoramic sunroof exploded without anything striking it. Sound like a gun shot. No vehicles in front of us to have thrown any objects at it to strike it.
There are no warning indicators or messages. The power mirrors will randomly start adjusting or switching into a position where they start clicking because they're too far over. Even when you try to turn the mirror button off, or close the mirrors and reopen them, the mirror will continue to move. This problem has been continuous for over a year with no problems identified otherwise. This is a major safety concern as the mirrors are required to navigate and see passing traffic or obstacles.

Fire inside of the motor, behind the engine computer. Upon researching recalls for Lincoln Navigators I found these other recalls online for possibly the same fire issue: "Ford has issued a recall for some of its 2021 Ford expedition and Lincoln Navigator suvs due to a potential engine fire risk. Over 65,000 2021-year model vehicles manufactured between December 2020 and April 2021 have been affected. " "we've discovered a vehicle safety issue in some 2021 model-year Lincoln Navigator® vehicles built from July 30, 2020 to August 31, 2021. Some of these vehicles have experienced an under-hood fire, even while parked and off. ".

On June 28, 2023 I was driving my 2020 Lincoln Navigator black label and pull over due to smoke coming out from under my car. I turned the car off and went to open up the hook and seen black smoking pouring out of my car. I immediately called 911 and reported my car on fire. My car burned to the ground and Lincoln says there was not recalls. I have loss a significant amount of money on this car that I purchased only 1 year & 3 months ago and my insurance company is only paying me what the most current sales are. I hope something can be done since other Navigators has been recalled due to fires. I would greatly appreciate hearing your thoughts. Moonroof exploded and shattered while driving. Was on a 2 lane paved highway and no other cars were around.
I was driving about 40 miles per hour on an open road when I heard a very loud popping/explosion sound and falling glass. I immediately pulled over and found my panoramic sunroof had exploded and the glass was dropping into the cabin, most of it being caught by the interior sunroof screen. I immediately drove it to the Lincoln dealer where I bought it. They said they have never heard of such a thing as an exploding sunroof, and said it must have been a projectile hitting the top of my car; I find this highly improbable. Also, the pictures they took (attached to this report) are consistent with other pictures found online related to exploding sunroofs. The dealer also said that all glass is not warrantable, therefore, there was nothing they could do. I also called Ford motor company who originally said there might be something they can do to cover the cost. After discussing with the local Lincoln dealer, and internally, they wrote back that there was nothing they could do. They also declined to answer if this has been a recurring issue and our request to make a formal incident report to Ford. Although no one was hurt in this incident, had I been driving my children with the sunroof screen open (which we often to) at the time of this incident, they would have have tempered glass fall down on them, and potentially in their eyes.
Could not get the Lincoln way app to work, took vehicle to mark mcclarty Lincoln dealership and was told the tcu (the unit that controls the communications in the car) needed to be replaced and the cost including parts and labor is $1181, concerned that vehicle won't report critical information as is intended to maintain safety of vehicle.
On 2/3/2023 while driving, there was a loud explosion sound in the vehicle. We immediately pulled over to try to determine the source of the sound as there were no vehicles around us, nothing near us, or over us. We opened the sunroof cover and discovered the glass had shattered. We closed the cover, exited the vehicle to look at the sunroof from the outside. We immediately called the dealership as we just purchased this vehicle used on 1/19/2023. Two weeks owning the vehicle and the sunroof explodes. We are waiting on a call back from the dealer to determine our next steps. This is definitely a safety issue as the noise could cause an accident and if the sunroof cover had been opened, the shattered glass would have been all over our family.
I was travelling down an interstate highway in my vehicle when I noticed several momentary losses of engine power over the course of approximately five minutes. These moments became more frequent over the next two to three minutes, then the engine abruptly shut down with no power when pressing the accelerator and no warning lights. Only after I restarted my vehicle did I receive a powertrain fault message on the display and a check engine light. The abrupt loss of power with nearly zero warning while on an interstate highway endangered my vehicle and its occupants. Upon examination by a mechanic, it was determined that the throttle body on my vehicle had malfunctioned by sticking in the closed position. This was found by my mechanic to be a known technical service bulletin issue from Ford motor company. My mechanic replaced the throttle body, and there have been no issues since.

There are some major transmission issues with my vehicle. The gears do not change properly causing the SUV to stall on the highway while I was driving 65 mph. I took it to the mark ficken Ford Lincoln dealership for repair. They stated that the torque converter needed repair along with the 3rd gear and 5th gear clutch had issues. The thumping/grinding sound I've been hearing since I purchased the car from mark ficken. The dealership should cover the cost of these repairs. The vehicle has 110,000 miles on it. I purchased it pre-owned from the dealership.
Urgent safety recall. Informed of this urgent safety recall of fires on may 17 and there still has been no resolution by Lincoln to fix this urgent safety issue.
Back passenger door opened while driving. Locking mechanism will not keep door shut.
The contact owns a 2013 Lincoln Navigator. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, the rear wheels seized and the vehicle made a screeching sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed with wheel speed sensor failure. The contact was informed that the wheel speed sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the defect and directed the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

If the rear trunk gate is up and the vehicle is running the passenger compartment will fill with carbon monoxide very quickly. This usually will happen if loading luggage or items in the back of the vehicle while the engine runs. Certainly a risk if kids are left in the passenger compartment while the truck is being loaded when the engine is running.

The vehicle engaged in involuntary acceleration (in reverse) from stationary position right after shifting gears from parking p to reverse r and disengaging the parking brake. The brakes were being applied during this gear change. The car started moving in reverse as soon as the driver let off the brakes. The driver then reapplied the brakes but the vehicle accelerated instead of breaking. More pressure was applied to the brakes but that increased the speed instead of reducing it. The vehicle accelerated from 0 mph to approximately 50 mph and traveled about 100 feet in reverse. The driver was maneuvering the vehicle with the steering wheel while simultaneously applying pressure to the breaks. The driver managed to steer the vehicle up a small grassy hill of about 15 degrees in slope until the vehicle hit a residential concrete wall with the back of the vehicle. At the moment of impact, the vehicle bounced back and the acceleration disappeared with the engine still on. The vehicle then slowly rolled down the hill until it hit a parked car. At that moment, the car stopped and remained stationary. The engine was then turned off. The impact caused damage to the back of the vehicle and to the residential concrete wall. The driver's seat was also damaged. It became loose with the impact and was ejected backwards towards the back seat with the driver still on it. There were no physical injuries to the occupants other than whiplash. A firmware defect of the electronic throttle system is suspected.

Driving at about 25-30 mph on side street and my car surged out of control. . I attempted to control the speed with the brake. I was about 100-150 feet from a busy intersection (40 highway -the car surging really fast. I needed to make some quick decisions to protect a lot of people from being badly injured or killed. I had to leave the key on so that I could control the car away from 40 highway- so I turned into a little path to my right which led me into big trees or a thicket. I chose the thicket not knowing there was a terrain in the middle. Actually , the car was going so fast - I had very little control at this time. My car attempted to go up on one side flew about 20 feet through the air when it landed a small tree kept it from rolling over and came out on a hill again heading for the busy 40 highway. As luck would have it ,the hill was wet and muddy from rain and I pulled the steering wheel as hard as I could to my right turning the car up the hill - away from the traffic. The soft ground helped to put the car in a skid and flipped the back end around. As it was heading up the hill I quickly turned off the key and got the car stopped. When the towing company came to pick up the car -unsafe still surging. Took car to bob sights Ford . ( previously, they repaired the popping noice described in another 'nathsa' complaint. ) car was totaled. I tried to get them to hook the car up to the mechicanical module scanner for the safety of others. Instead they put it on the body scanner they use to locate all components when repairing a wrecked car (which I paid for) would not put the car on the mechnical scanner even though it was still surging when I finally released it to the insurance company. My biggest concern is the safety of others. I even talked to one of the owners of the dealership.

Kept closing and wouldnt stay open. So we used the glass window hatch upon arrival to my home it exploded and shot up into the air. The car was staionary in my driveway. I just turned it off my son went to the back of the car to get the groceries. I have video and photos it wont let me upload them.

Intermittent loss of power and/or an illuminated powertrain malfunction. Vehicle stalls due to faulty throttle body actuator. Ford/Lincoln is well aware of this issue and has issued a field service action bulletin for this condition (16b32). Https://Ford. Oemdtc. Com/2593/intermittent-loss-of-power-andor-an-illuminated-powertrain-malfunction-wrench-lamp-with-dtcs-p2111-p2112-andor-p2119-2015-2016-Ford-Lincoln the vehicle loses all power creating an extremely unsafe condition. Stalls when accelerating, losing all power forcing vehicle operator to stop - turn off engine and hope it accelerates upon restarting. This needs to be elevated to a Ford recall for impacted vehicles and all costs covered by Ford/Lincoln. Absolutely unacceptable. I have had my vehicle stall when pulling out from a stop sign into traffic, on the highway when attempting to accelerate to pass traffic and on city streets during normal driving. Each time this occurred there was a very significant chance for something really bad to happen. . . Not sure how I escaped driving this unsafe vehicle unscathed.
Was driving car shut off. . . Bought new battery instantly, then replaced crankshaft sensor because after car shutoff it wouldnt start back up. . .
