Rear taillights would not work and headlights would not go off at times door ajar would come on and all doors were closed at times heated seats would work and sometimes not took to shop and had wiring diagnostics done and found out needed new headlight switch put in it shorted out burning wires under dash garage had to order new headlight switch put it in and it did not work ordered 3rd one and same situation still did not work am being told by Ford and garage that there is a backorder on part because of known problems with the headlight switch control that is being made and will be at least a month tell parts are available. If I would not have been outside in car when the smoking started under my dash by the headlight switch the car would have burned to the ground but luckily it was just the wiring harness that was hurt this is a dangerous situation property damage was to my 99 Lincoln Navigator with wires burning.

The contact owns a 2000 Lincoln Navigator. While driving the passenger smelled a burning odor. Upon further inspection he noticed that the wiring harness, main terminal, compressor and the alternator had melted. Prior to the failure, he heard a peculiar noise. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer nor has he notified the manufacturer. The current and failure mileages were approximately 169,000.

Vehicle caught fire under hood by fuse box/firewall and wiring harness to motor. Fire marshall stated electrical short in wiring harness. Vehicle was a total loss of the fire. My wife and my 7 year old daughter were in vehicle when ignited with no notice. I never received a notice about vehicle speed control recall and recall was never performed as a result of that. Fire occurred in area of speed control cable.

On Saturday July 23, 2005, my 1998 Lincoln Navigator caught on fire from underneath the hood. At the moment it is at the repair shop, but it is said that there is no repair, it is burned completely. Thank god there was no injuries, but in hearing about the cruise control deactivation fires. I was concerned that my vehicle could of had this type of accident.

Consumer noticed smoke coming from underneath vehicle, shut off engine and smoke stopped. Continued to drive home, pulled into driveway, and vehicle's brakes were not working.
While parked an electrical short in the front wiring harness, caused vehicle to catch on fire. Vehicle was destroyed by fire.
