This safety issue was discovered yesterday. The passenger-side rear door will not unlock, either by manual attempt to raise the knob or by using the control buttons on the fob nor at the driver's station. The window in that door also no longer responds to attempts to raise or lower it. Both my rear seat passengers had to enter using the driver's-side rear door. This creates a serious potential safety hazard by preventing rear-seat passengers exiting the vehicle near their closest door in an emergency. The car will be taken to a local dealership to resolve this safety and convenience issue upon my return from an extended trip. I had no warning of any impending component failure. That door lock and window worked well days ago.

My 07 Lincoln only has around 80,000 miles on it and has water leaks causing water to pool in the floor boards thereby causing the potential for rust, electrical issues and the hazards that could result therefrom. A quick online search will reveal to you that these leaks are incredibly common and very well known among Lincoln owners and dealers alike (very, very common problem due to manufacturer defects) but Ford refuses to do anything about it. Given how widespread this problem is it seems that the right thing to do would be for Ford to issue a recall and repair these things. Problem appears to affect 99'-11 models. Thank you.
Tl-the contact owns a 1999 Lincoln towncar. The contact stated that while driving the contact felt the brakes were not working properly. . The contact made a right hand turn and crashed into a parked truck. . The contact did not have an injury that required transport to a hospital and no police report was filed. The crash happened right at the independent mechanic's shop. The independent mechanic fixed the brakes with a fluid leak from the brake line as the cause of the malfunction. The contact felt there also was an issue of the front end of the vehicle being out of alignment that caused the vehicle to drift to one side. The issue recurred with the front end still being out of alignment with a scraping sound. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer griffin Ford: new Ford 511 7th st w, tifton, GA 31794 (229) 382-1300 but received no assistance from the dealer . The contact went to another unknown dealer who diagnosed the issue with the brakes but stated that the front end was not damaged. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was unrepaired. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 200,000. Tf.

Tl the contact owns a 2003 Lincoln Town Car. The contact stated that the front end of the vehicle was scraped. The vehicle was taken to pompano Ford (2741 n federal hwy, pompano beach, FL 33064, (954) 773-9486) for repairs. When the contact retrieved the vehicle, he noticed that the entire floorboard was flooded with water. The dealer believed the water was due to the air conditioning unit flooding or the wipers pushing water inside the vehicle. The dealer then stated that there was a pan in the engine compartment that was supposed to drain water out into the street. The dealer tried to blame the insurance company that directed the contact to the dealer to have the scrape repaired. The dealer gave the contact a bill for $880 and did not clear out the water. The dealer informed the contact that the insurance company would pay for the repairs. The dealer returned the vehicle to the contact still full of water and gave him a statement listing the charges for which they expected the insurance company to pay. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 81,000.

"takata recall". I was driving my 2003 Lincoln towncar on the interstate with my 3 children in the car on our way home from alabama to indiana when my sunroof shattered and exploded. Pieces of glass started flying off the top of my car and my kids became scared. All of the windows were closed as well as the sunroof. Luckily I had the sunroof visor closed as well or pieces of glass would have flown back in my car potentially harming one of my children. I still have not been able to get it replaced and I'm hoping to get some assistance in figuring things out.
Takata recall: steering wheel has smoked before lightly, interior lights have stayed on,steering wheel has done a 360 turn, corrosion on the side panel and panel(chrome) has fallen off. I'm not sure how late a recall time frame is but my car happens to be very old now so I'm wondering if this is the case I have pictures from what the car looked like and up to now also my car is now at 366. - miles so this may not even be something to be turned in, this state has also done so much damage from the potholes. .
I came from work at around 0600 am on 9/4/15 in my 2004 Lincoln Town Car and park it in my apartment. At around 0330 of the same day I decided to go pick my child from school . Whent I statrted my car and put it in reverse tryng to back up from the parking lot, the car suddenly accelerated at a speed of about 60 ml/hr to hit tow cars park in the parking lot and dragging one of the to a tree which finally stopped the car. If that tree did not stop the car the damage would have been worse because all my efforts to stop the car failed. The car was just uncontrollable with unprecedented speed . It was as if the car had a mind of it self. I was just lucky because my wife and kids were in another car very close to the car that was dragged. If they have came out of the car , they would have been dragged too. Thank god their is no fatalities. I have diven all types of vehicle ,including tractor trailer over the road and domestic and have never seen such phenomenon.
When I opened the front passenger door, the interior handle stuck out when I pulled it and remained so. I could ont open the door. He dealer put a bolt in it to fix it but then it cracked around the bolt and I had to replace the door panel. Two years later (5/6/2017), the driver side door did the same thing. Handle stuck in up position and could not open the door. Am searching for a replacement because Town Car is discontinued and Lincoln said they cannot help me. This is a dangerous situation. I understand that this exact issue is a recall for the navigator but not Town Car. Being unable to open a door is extremely dangerous and apparently a known issue by Lincoln. I was told by the dealer (Lincoln margate florida) that other customers had to buy replacement parts for this issue.

2004 Lincoln Town Car cartier. Riding down road 35 mph accelerating. Windows were all up, sunroof closed. Never had any problems prior. Wife touched sunroof button to open sunroof while windows still closed, and bam! the sunroof exploded; luckily did not shatter onto us but cracked in large pieces. Scared us both but I kept control of the car until could pull over. No cars in the area around us. Not aware of any debris. A windshiled replacement company told us there is a high incidence of sunroofs exploding for no reason. My thoughts are that the sudden pulling back of the sunroof cover caused a big difference in air pressure causing the sunroof glass to break. This is a serious problem needing attn. Usuallly I have my windows opened slightly before opening sunroof. . No prior problems. On that day, my wife was happy as we left a business and opened the sunroof before the windows. . And then bam! never expected something like this on a Lincoln Town Car. But, the auto glass CO said it is a common problem with sunroofts. Have not yet had it fixed, wondering if it's worth using another sunroof that might break. My car still operates good otherwise.
2004 Lincoln leaks on passenger side under glovebox area, during moderate to hard rain, seems to be much worse while standing still. Passenger carpet floods and vehicle must have 'shop vac' treatment to get all the water out of the car and carpet. Leaves the carpet stained and musty smelling. Now I must put a large trash sack under the passenger windshield wiper blade so if it rains the car won't flood. Lincoln says they are sorry but do not know what the problem is as they can see nothing wrong. I showed them pictures and Lincoln was unimpresses. You can identify my car in the parking lot with by watching for the trashcan liner on the hood. Still ongoing problem. Thanks Lincoln.
Seat passenger side airbag lumbar bulged out. Air condition motor making whining noise. Body rust.
Driver was parking Lincoln Town Car. Stepped on brake while putting car into park position. Car suddenly accelerated over concrete parking stop and slammed into an entrance to shopping center sign that was in front of the parking space. The car ended up with the front of the car against the sign and the rear wheels of the car up against the parking stop.
I was driving the Lincoln Town Car when I began to smell what appeared to be gas or some fluid coming into the vehicle. I stopped the car and parked in a driveway and inspected the bottom of the car where there was no leak but a strong odor of gas or some fluid. I then started the car and put into reverse and with my foot applied to the brake backing up in reverse there was a loud pop in the engine and the car shut off followed by smoke and then fire. The car then set on fire and burned for about 20 minutes before the fire fighters arrived to put the car out. It was totaled.

2000 Lincoln Town Car. When pulling into a parking place, the car kept going forward, over the 4' retaining wall, and into an industrial building approximately 6' away. The car was totaled, and there was damage to the building. Fortunately, the building stopped the car. Part of the damage happened when the tow truck pulled the car out of the building. Driver was only slightly hurt on the lower arms which hit against the steering wheel.

Water accumulates on floor front and rear. Passenger sidethe car can be in motion or stationary during rain or going through car wash. We had a 2001 towncar with the exact same problem. After googling this issue I find there are many autos with this problem. What we spend for these autos this should have been resolved by manufacturer years ago!.
Tl- the contact owns a 2004 Lincoln Town Car. The contact stated that he noticed water leaking into the vehicle from under the glove compartment. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. I was stopped and entering a turn. There was no ice on the pavement. As I turned left the car accelerated and the brakes became unresponsive. The car spun and hit a fire hydrant. This car at other times as suddenly accelerated, but I was always able to apply the brakes and it calmed down in a few seconds.
My family and I own 4 Lincoln Town Cars. Years of them are 2001, 2003, 2006, 2008 and everytime it rains a lot of water gets into to front right passenger side. I'm guessing the frame isn't welding correctly or all the way. Also my friend said he's 2003 licoln Town Car accumulates water too when it rains a lot. Please check into this issue to see what the real problem is, which the water might cause electrical issue or other safety hazards of the frame isn't welded correctly.
The contact owns a 2007 Lincoln Town Car. The contact stated that there was a water leak in the vehicle. Manufacturing / design defect in vehicle inside door panel causing panel to fail and inside door latch handle to become inoperable. This resutls in driver being unable to open door from inside vehicle. Driver is trapped and in danger in an emergency. Company no longer produces replacement parts or repair parts. This design continues in current models and will multiply exposure as vehicles age.
I have a 2003, Lincoln towncar and when it rains, the passenger side floor board gets soaking wet, I can have it under the car port and it still gets wet. I do not have any holes in the car. I had the same problem with my 1999 Lincoln towncar and they changed by wind sheild four or five times and it did not solve the problem in the 1999 the passenger side floor board would wetter than the back, with the 2003 the back floor board is wetter than the front, I almost think it is coming from something under the seat.
The contact owns a 2001 Lincoln Town Car. The contact stated that the front driver’s side door handle did not properly secure the door when locked. The contact also stated that while driving 20 mph on a curve, the front driver’s door opened. The spring on the handle was faulty and caused the door to open while driving. The vehicle was not taken to have the failur diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 80,000.
The contact owns a 1998 Lincoln Town Car. Since early February of 2009, water builds up in the door of the vehicle after it rains or the vehicle is washed. In addition, the interior of the vehicle becomes wet everytime it rains. The contact feels that this is a manufacturer defect and would like someone to look into the issue. The current and failure mileages were 117,000.
When coming to a stop and pushing brake pedal ,accelerator pedal is too close to break pedal causing it to be pushed causing engine to accelerate creating a dangerous situation on my 2006 Lincoln Town Car.
Last year I first noticed that after a hard rain the rear drivers passenger door would have water sloshing around in it. Now the rear passenger side floor board is almost constantly wet. Rain and carwashes make the problem worse but even a big puddle can soak it again.
The contact owns a 1999 Lincoln Town Car. The contact discovered the interior front drivers and passenger side floors drenched with water on several occasions. The floor was so saturated that towels must be used to absorb the water. The vehicle was garage kept and hand washed only by the contact. The current and failure mileage were 68654.
During every rain water runs down the inside of the firewall on the passenger's side, behind the glove box, soaks the front carpet, and stands as much as 1 1/2" deep in the rear floor. Both carpets were very moldy. I have taken the car to dealers, body shops, and windshield glass experts, and nobody can fix it. If I run a small stream of water from the hose on the lower right corner of the windshield it will show up on the inside of the car within a minute. I have been trying to solve this problem for at least 3 years.
